  1. 1. 15.8 BEARING AND SEALS http://part66.blogspot.com/
  2. 2. BEARING TYPE • Purpose is to take load axial and radial. • Reduce friction between shaft and casing. • Type : – Roller (axial) – Ball (axial and radial) – Tappered roller
  3. 3. Roller bearing Ball bearing Tappered roller bearing
  4. 4. ROLLER BEARING
  5. 5. BALL BEARING
  6. 6. SEAL TYPE • Purpose : – To prevent oil leakage from the bearing and system. • Type – Labyrinth seal – Carbon seal – Brush type – Ring type
  7. 7. LABYRINTH SEAL • The oil prevented from exiting by the air entering across the labyrinth seal Oil pressure area Air pressure area
  8. 8. CARBON SEAL • Using carbon and graphite. • Carbon surface is stationary with highly polish mating surface.
  9. 9. BRUSH SEAL • The seal act like labyrinth seal. • Leakage less than labyrinth • Not wear like carbon seal
  10. 10. PRINCIPLE OPERATION
