I think I have improved since my preliminary task of creating a school magazine.
I didn’t try to use a unique font for my school magazine, and I used a default font. I
also wasn't use to Photoshop at that time so I struggled a lot in trying to position the
pages. The puff on my school magazine doesn’t stand out as it should in comparison
to my music magazine. Although my school magazines followed most of the
conventions of a front cover page, I positioned the barcode on the left instead of the
right and I didn’t personalise the barcode as I did with my music magazine
As I am more aware of how to use Photoshop and the other software used to
produce my media product, I found it easier to use more intricate details in my
magazine and learnt how to use tools to make my magazine appear more
professional. I also used tutorials on YouTube so that I could learn how to do certain
things, which I hadn't don’t for my preliminary task.
I also think research aided in my progressions. For my music magazine, I looked at a
range of magazines such as ‘NME’ and ‘Kerrang’ so that I was more familiar with
indie magazines which helped me understand what I needed to do to create an indie
