Major land form of earth

  1. 1. LandformsNatural features of the landscape , naturalPhsical features of the Earth’s surface The 5 MAIN Landforms are: Valleys
  2. 2. 1. A plateau is a large highland area of fairly level land separated from surrou- nding land by steep slopes2. Some plateaus like the plateau of Tibet, lie between mountain ranges, Others are higher than surrounding land3. Plateaus are widespread, and together with enclosed basins they cover about 45 percent of the EARTH’s land surface.
  3. 3. 1. Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.2. Mountains are formed by volcanism, eroison, and disturbances or uplift in the earth’s crust3. Mountain ranges are important because they determine the climate and water flow of surrounding regions.
  4. 4. 1. The two largest landforms in America are the Costal Plains and the Interior Plains.2. Plains usually have good soil and are used for farming.3. Plains are generally lower than the land around them; they may be found along a coast or inland.
  5. 5. 1. A hill is land higher than the land around it but, it is lower than a mountain.2. Hills may be formed by a buildup of rock debris or sand deposited by glaciers and wind.3. Hills may be created by faults. Faults are a slight crack in the Earth which can cause earthquakes
