SOLVENT EXTRACTION – A SPECIALITYSolvent Extraction has been SERVOTECH speciality. Considerable attention has been bestowed on building variety of plantsto suit specific needs.DELUX CONTINUOUS EXTRACTION PLANTDelux extraction plant is continuous and fully automatic, intended for medium and large scale processing and modernDESOLVENTISER TOASTER has always been a standard equipment in the DELUX Plant. Indeed, we were the first tomanufacture a DT in this country and adopt it as standard equipment in our “DELUX” Plants. Better desolventisation andbiological value of meal is achieved by DT, apart from addition of more stable moisture.In tropical countries, where cooling water temperatures are likely to be rather high, the solvent recovery system assumes greatimportance. We were the first to recognize the limitations of the ROTARY ABSORBER and discard it in favour of the moremodern packed-column absorber which has been chosen by all manufacturers of repute elsewhere in the world. The TOWERABSORBER achieves better surface-to-volume ratio and permits higher rates of circulation of absorbing medium for betterrecovery of solvent. As a further refinement, we have recently introduced a FINAL CONDENSOR for the vent gases cooled withrefrigerated water which enables the recovery of about 50% of the solvent present in the vent gases before they enter theABSORPTION SYSTEM. The performance of the ABSORPTION SYSTEM is thereby enhanced and loss of solvent in the ventgases is reduced to the minimum. ENERGY SAVING DEVICES Foreseeing the escalating cost of energy and its implications on process cost, we were the first to take positive measure to reduce consumption of energy. A MODERN HEAT-EXCHANGER- EVAPORATOR was duly incorporated as standard equipment in all our extraction plants and the heat of the DT vapours is gainfully employed for pre-concentration of miscella entering the evaporation system. It was found that the DT vapours exiting the HEAT-EXCHANGER- EVAPORATOR still contains considerable heat which is now being utilized for heating the condensate from the surface condensers by direct contact. This enables maximum utilization of the heat from the DT vapours before they are diverted to the water cooled condensers. Nearly one third (1/3) of the steam consumed in the miscella evaporation section is accounted by steam ejectors employed to create vacuum. We were the first to discard the ejectors and opt for a vacuum pump which considerably reduced energy cost of the system and enhanced the efficiency of the surface condensers. The heat of the final oil leaving the stripping column is currently being used for heating the pre-concentrated miscella entering the evaporator system and a modern PLATE HEAT EXCHANGER is used for maximum efficiency of its transfer in the larger plants. All the pumps handling solvent/miscella in the extraction plant are provided with mechanical seal of superior quality now being manufactured in India with foreign collaboration. This will eliminate the wasteful leakage from the circulation pumps, thereby reducing the consumption of solvent. Thus, Solvent Extraction is indeed a Servotech speciality and over 155 Solvent Extraction Plants are in existence today in this country and abroad. However, during recent times there has been considerable interest in large sized Extraction Plants 500 to 1000 MTD Capacity it was felt this is the appropriate time for up-dating our Solvent Extraction Technology and bringing it in line with current practices prevailing in the advanced countries of the world.
OIL REFINING – INNOVATIVE AND MODERNUpdating technology is a continuing effort in SERVOTECH. TheIndustry expects new and useful innovation from SERVOTECH and theyhave not been disappointed so far.In the context of the ever widening gap between supply and demand ofedible oils in the country, any effort to reduce process losses will make asignificant contribution to bridge the gap. Till a quarter of century agorefineries were of batch type including Kettle Neutralisation. Centrifugalrefining caught up since the early sixtees.The quest for better refining brought non-caustic pretreatment system(Physical Refining) which enables distillative deacidification of allVegetable Oils except Crude Cottonseed Oil. The system offers thefollowing exclusive advantages which assumes national importance inthe context of vigorous effort now being made to bridge the oil gap. 1) Maximum recovery of refined oil from a given quantity of crude oil by virtue of reducing process loss to an irreducible minimum 1.1 times the Wesson Loss. 2) Makes it possible to economically process into refined oils high acidity crude oils now being diverted to technical uses on the grounds that their processing is not viable by conventional methods. 3) Recovery of edible grade oil from Commercial Rice Bran Oil is now brought within the realm of possibility. 4) Recovers distilled fatty acids as a by-product whose value is much higher than that of the parent oil, whereas conventional processes yield soap stock which hardly fetches half the value of the treated oil. 5) The energy requirements of the Distillative Deacidification system is a small fraction of what is required by other conventional systems. 6) Stainless Steel construction fully protects the quality of the finished products.
USP OF “SERVOTECH” CONTINOUS SOLVENT EXTRACTION PLANTNEW GENERATION DESOLVENTISER TOASTER• Specially designed false bottom is provided for effective use of live steam, below the double bottom, in 2nd and 3rd stage through which live steam is injected for thorough stripping of MARC.• For facilitating easy passage of vapours inside the DT, a vapour drum is provided in 2 or 3 stages as per design requirement. This will ensure quick flow of vapour to the top dome.• Moisture control of the material can be regulated at the desired level.• Well designed Flapper Indicator mechanism for proper level control of the material under desolventization.• D.T. is designed also for operation at low pressure of 4 Kg/Sq cm.• Last, but not least, DT still continues to be a SERVOTECH celebrity.DRY DUST CATCHER Built over the Desolventiser Toaster top dome to reduce the dust carry over along with the solvent vapour leaving the D.T.EXTRACTOR• SERVOTECH use Endless Woven Metallic Belt, made out from High Carbon Annealed Steel Wire in the extractor, which give 20 to 25% better PERCOLATION as compared to the conventional Extractor.• This belt is maintenance FREE (zero maintenance) and work LIFE TIME.• SERVOTECH extractor chain moves on MINIATURE RAIL (METER GAUGE RAILWAY TRACK) as against the flat used in the conventional extractor , Flats rail get damaged after some time but SERVOTECH rail work LIFE TIME.• SERVOTECH chain work on the same principle at which the train runs on the track carrying the tonnes of load with out derailing.
