    13. 13. What are phonetic words?<br />Letters have sounds that create words<br />Sounds are called phonemes so they are called phonetic words<br />
    14. 14. WE DO: (5min) close<br />Let’s read these words in unison:<br />the<br />they<br />is<br />was<br />Let’s tap the word was<br />Did you notice anything?<br />It does not follow the phonetic rules.<br />We call these words High Frequency Words.<br />They need to be memorized.<br />

SKYWRITING (3min) close<br />Write the word they on air while you spell it.<br />This strategy is called skywriting.<br />It’s very kinesthetic-tactile & is a strong memory source.<br />When you say the letters aloud at the same time, it adds more senses since you are hearing it and saying it at the same time.<br />Do it with a PARTNER<br />they, is, was, the<br />
