Its a product thatwill give you insight into what developers areinterested in, where theyre coming from, whattheyre reading, whos influential and more. Ifyou have a Developer Relations program, this isa quantitative complement to it. If you dont, youshould, and we can help with that too. 22

Were talking about codersand programmers from novice to wizard, yes,but also sysadmins. DBAs. Architects.Designers. Anyone with a hands on role inimplementation. As an analyst firm, RedMonkhas always published content for free. Thiscontent is consumed primarily by developers; inwatching where and how and how frequentlythis content is consumed, we learn a lot. The tool does notassume a background in statistics, computerscience or BI, so its available to everyone frompublic relations and marketing to competitiveintelligence to product design and strategy.Senior leadership is taking a keen interest aswell, and developer relations are another naturalaudience. 25
  26. 26. QUESTION: Is RedMonk Analytics strictlyRedMonk data?ANSWER: Yes and no. The bulk of the reports arecurrently driven by our own data. We are in theprocess, however, of incorporating various thirdparty developer centric data sources from blogsto other developer centric data sources. OurTwitter Top 50 – scored for us by Infochimps - isone example of how well be incorporatingoutside data in the future. 26
  27. 27. QUESTION: Is there a free version of RedMonkAnalytics?ANSWER: Sorry, but not at the present time. Weregularly incorporate data from RedMonkAnalytics into our free research and post dailyinsights from the tool to Twitter(@analyticsmonk), but full is access isrestricted to paying subscribers at present. 27
  28. 28. QUESTION: Whats on the roadmap?ANSWER: Very, very cool stuff. The next plannedreport will make available data on developerpreferences for operating system, browser,search engine and more. As more third partydata sources see the value of the product, theywant to get on board. So while we cant give youa schedule, we can tell you that well be veryactively adding new data in to the system forusers. The roadmap also includes moreextensive local storage and querying as well asmore sophisticated visualizations. 28
  29. 29. QUESTION: Whats in it for data partners?ANSWER: Most data partners are excited aboutusing RedMonk Analytics as a channel. If youhave a complex dataset and are in the businessof providing detailed analytics on it, great! Werenot in the business of providing deep divemining of your data: well take simplesummaries and lists and leave the rest to you.Additionally, all of our external data sources willbe attributed, not white-labeled, thus creatingsales opportunities for you. 29
  30. 30. QUESTION: What if I have a more detailedquestion than RedMonk Analytics can answer?ANSWER: Thats where RedMonk AnalyticsCustom comes in. To maximize usability, ourtool is oriented around the 80/20 rule; we try, inother words, to answer most questions ratherthan every question. Customers with moredetailed queries, however, can simply applyhours from their RedMonk subscription towardsa RedMonk Analytics Custom project. Ouranalysts will research your question and prepareyou an answer for a predetermined hourly cost. 30

QUESTION: Im a current RedMonk customer: amI already a subscriber?ANSWER: The product launched this fall, socontracts signed prior to that dont haveprovisions for RedMonk Analytics, meaning thatthe odds are that the answer is no. Its an easyadd-on process for current customers, however. 31
