  2. 2. Banned Book Week????? Celebrates free written expression and the ability to freely choose what one reads Annual event since 1982
  3. 3. Purpose of Banned Book Week Celebrate our right to access books without censorship Encourage readers not to take the freedom to read freely for granted Stimulate awareness of our right to read the materials of our choice

  5. 5. Participate in Banned Book Week  Read a Banned Book  Enter the daily contest  Participate in seminar poster contest  Enter bookmark contest
  6. 6. Daily Contest 3 daily questions--3 difficulty levels Submit answers each day to Ms. Lehman by the end of school For each correct response your name will be entered in a daily drawing and a grand drawing There will be a daily prize and a grand prize.

Bookmark Contest Entries forms will be available Monday, October 1st Students will design a bookmark to represent banned book week Drawings must be school appropriate Additional guidelines will be on the entry form The winning design will be printed, laminated, and made available for staff and students

  9. 9. Announcing WinnersDaily contest winners will be announced each morning during seminar. Grand Prize Winner, Bookmark Winner and Seminar Poster Winner will be announced Monday, October 8th during seminar
  10. 10. While not every book is intended for every reader, each of us has the right to decide for ourselves what to read, listen to or view. Celebrate your freedom to read!
