Rural Broadband Initiative• Final agreement to deliver the RBI accepted 20th April 2011.• Telecom to extend high-speed broadband services into rural New Zealand.• The six-year programme starts in July 2011 and runs through to end of June 2017.• More than 700 schools will be connected to 100 Mbps fibre, about 500 in the first year.• All RBI-funded infrastructure will be open access, i.e. available for competitors to build their own competing services.
