What’s New in
             KINGDOM Version 8.5 SP2

KINGDOM version 8.5 Service Pack 2 includes the following new features for KINGDOM
Core and KINGDOM Advanced.

KINGDOM Core and Advanced Features

   SQL Portability—Auto SSE Option
KINGDOM now provides a new method for working with SQL Server Express that
allows users to work with their projects in the newer database technologies and
retain the ease of portability they had with MS Access.
   KINGDOM Colored Inversion
KINGDOM Colored Inversion transforms seismic reflectivity data to relative
acoustic impedance data. It enables interpreters to pick true changes in
impedance that represent geology that matches well log data, not just picking
horizons based on processing reflections. KINGDOM Colored Inversion requires
   a separate license.
See Help > Tutorials > Colored Inversion for a walkthrough of Colored Inversion
   using the Sooner demo dataset.

KINGDOM Advanced Features

Introducing EarthPAK Advanced - a comprehensive production economics
   package that includes the following:
   - Multi-Layer Volumetrics
   - Multi-Segment Decline Curve Analysis
   - Display Bubble Maps of Forecast Production
   - Economic Analysis

Learn more about KINGDOM through these resources on the SMT Web site:

SQL Portability—Auto SSE Option

Available in KINGDOM Core and KINGDOM
Advanced
KINGDOM now provides a new method for working with SQL Server Express that allows
users to work with their projects in the newer database technologies and retain the ease of
portability they had with MS Access.
• KINGDOM 8.5 SP2, provides a new automated method for SQL Server Express project
     portability.
• The Auto SQL Server Express option will configure your projects so that you can use the
simple Windows Explorer drag and drop file approach that you have always used to move
     or copy your Access project.
• Not another tool! Just a different way of organizing your project.

Using the Auto SSE Feature
When you create a new project, or convert an existing MS Access project, you will be
prompted to choose the type of database you wish to use. Choose the entry for Auto SQL
Server Express.

2 KINGDOM 8.5 SP2
SQL Portability—Auto SSE Option

Figure 1 Create and Migrate Projects to Auto SSE

Auto SSE (cont’d)
If you have been using our earlier configuration of SSE, you can also easily migrate these
projects to the Auto SSE configuration.

Figure 2 Change from Manual SSE Configuration to Auto SSE

How is Auto SSE Different?
• The Auto SSE configuration stores the database files directly in the project directory
rather than on your C: drive.
• When the first user of a project opens it in KINGDOM, the project databases are
    automatically attached to SQL.

KINGDOM 8.5 SP2 3
SQL Portability—Auto SSE Option

• The project remains attached until the last user of a project closes KINGDOM.
• When no users are in the project, you can use simple Windows copy or drag and drop
commands to move your project to another computer or a USB drive, just like MS Access.
• These projects can be used in any version of KINGDOM later than 8.5 SP1.
• For use by older versions of KINGDOM, you may still use the existing SQL Management
Tools in KINGDOM to create a backward compatible portable project.
• Available in KINGDOM Core and KINGDOM Advanced.

4 KINGDOM 8.5 SP2
KINGDOM Colored Inversion

KINGDOM Colored Inversion
Colored Inversion transforms seismic reflectivity data to relative acoustic impedance data. It
enables interpreters to pick true changes in impedance that represent geology that matches
well log data, not just picking horizons based on processing reflections.
The software has been designed so that it can be used by any interpreter with seismic data
and one or more wells with a velocity log and a TD chart.
Colored Inversion is a proven technique that is fast and easy to apply to seismic data, yet
produces results that match more sophisticated and compute intensive techniques such as
sparse spike inversion. Colored Inversion:
• Matches seismic data to well log data within the seismic spectrum.
• Produces cleaner data with less noise and signal instability.
• Is designed for interpreters—quick, intuitive interface for easy set up and execution
    interface.
• Quickly converts seismic volumes to inversion volumes.
• Is fully integrated with KINGDOM interpretation modules.
• Provides a cost-effective technique to improve interpretation productivity and accuracy.

Figure 3 Colored Inversion Seismic Volumes

Colored Inversion seismic volumes represent relative acoustic impedance, matching the
seismic phase to the well data.
The data is more geologically meaningful, enabling the interpreter to focus on the layers and
lateral variations within the layers.

KINGDOM 8.5 SP2 5
KINGDOM Colored Inversion

Colored Inversion (cont’d)
Apply Colored Inversion to seismic data to work with impedance data that matches the well
acoustic log data, giving confidence that the picks are made on true changes in rock lithology.
The software is designed to be used by interpreters with seismic data and one or more wells
with a velocity (and ideally, density) logs.

The Colored Inversion data identifies contrasts in relative acoustic impedance not apparent in the
 original seismic data.

    KINGDOM Advanced
The introduction of EarthPAK Advanced allows you to calculate and analyze volumetric
reserves, forecast production profiles, and assess the economic viability of a project.

Multi-Layer Volumetrics
• Multi-layer volumetrics allows evaluation of multiple reservoirs simultaneously.

Figure 5 Structure Definition for Multi-Layer Volumetrics

• Below, Monte Carlo simulation analyzes the range of potential reserves based on the
uncertainty of the known volumetric components.
• Sensitivity analysis shows how variations in a single volumetric component affect the
     calculation.

Multi-Segment Decline Curve Analysis

Multi-Segment Decline Curve Analysis
• Multi-segment Decline Curve Analysis allows the incremental effect of a workover or
     recompletion to be analyzed.
• Manual decline curve segments model a proposed program with user-defined production
     and decline rates.

Figure 5 Structure Definition for Multi-Layer Volumetrics • Below, Monte Carlo simulation analyzes the range of potential reserves based on the uncertainty of the known volumetric components. • Sensitivity analysis shows how variations in a single volumetric component affect the calculation. 8 KINGDOM 8.5 SP2

  • 10. Multi-Segment Decline Curve Analysis Multi-Segment Decline Curve Analysis • Multi-segment Decline Curve Analysis allows the incremental effect of a workover or recompletion to be analyzed. • Manual decline curve segments model a proposed program with user-defined production and decline rates. • 11. Multi-Segment Decline Curve Analysis Multiple Segment Decline Curve Analysis (cont’d) Multiple wells can be combined into group wells for entity-based analysis. Group wells can be defined by available well subsets. Figure 8 Create Group Wells and Forecast Templates for Decline Curve Analysis • Forecasts can incorporate a combination of rate, volume, and time limits. • Forecast Templates allow forecasts to be run for many wells at a time. • 13. Economic Analysis Economic Analysis • The Economics component performs sophisticated economic analysis linked to production forecasts. • Multiple product streams can be accommodated for analysis. Figure 10 Accommodate Multiple Product Streams for Economic Analysis KINGDOM 8.5 SP2 13
  • 14. Economic Analysis Economic Analysis accommodates various categories of Capital and Operating Expenses. For each revenue stream, Revenue, Before Tax Cash Flow, and After Cash Tax Flow are calculated. 14 KINGDOM 8.5 SP2
