  2. 2. <ul><li>Juicing fruit and vegetables is an excellent way to give your body a jump-start of great nutrition. I highlighted a good many benefits in my previous article but wanted to develop in more detail these ideas. Juicing is ever more popular and we have all heard how excellent it can be, but some of the articles I have read seem to get a bit confusing. I don’t want to hear a lot of medical jargon about the complicated ways my body works, I want to know in easy terms; what it does and how that benefits me. I like things put simply so I shall try to do this below; </li></ul><ul><li>I want to set-out 3 good explanations as to why juicing benefits your whole body: </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>1. Juiced fruit and vegetables are more easily digested than food that hasn't been juiced meaning the natural benefit gets into your system more quickly. </li></ul><ul><li>2. When you juice, you are using more fruits and vegetables than you would actually eat if they were whole. This means there is a greater concentration of vitamin and mineral natural goodness in your body. </li></ul><ul><li>3. Detoxification – Simply put, all the packaged food we eat have a large number of different chemicals such as preservatives and colourings, which are not natural for the bodies system and can in time be harmful. Drinking juices helps to flush out the harmful chemicals </li></ul><ul><li>Just below are some of the many health benefits of juicing: </li></ul>
  4. 4. Getting a heart that beats with health: The healthy vitamins in Fruit and vegetables such as vitamins C and E which help your heart to run effectively and to stop it clotting. You may be aware of Cholesterol and Triglycerides but basically they are the fat content in your blood which can cause, amongst other things, heart disease. Blood that is healthy makes everything run smoothly (Cardiovascular system) and so is excellent for your vital organs and a healthy heart. Vitamin C is known to be found in most vegetables and fruits, obviously some have a greater concentration than others. Some may be surprising
  5. 5. here are the top ten: 1: Green & Red hot chillies 2: Guavas 3: Bell Peppers 4: Fresh Parsley & Thyme 5: Dark Leafy Greens (Kale, Mustard Greens, Garden Cress) 6: Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts 7: Kiwi Fruits (Chinese Gooseberries) 8: Papayas (aka: Lechoza, Mamão, Pawpaw) 9: Oranges, manadarins, tangerines etc 10: Strawberries
  6. 6. Vitamin E can be discovered in these fruit and vegetables; mango, blackberries, kiwi, asparagus and spinach. Potassium is excellent for the heart and liver because it counteracts the bad effect salt can have which appears so often in todays food. Fruit and veg bursting in Potassium are; broccoli, peas, tomatoes, citrus fruits, cantaloupe, bananas and apricots. A good reason why juicing fruit & veg is because you don't consume too many natural vitamins whereas taking supplements can be detrimental. Magnesium helps the heart work effectively and ensuring the heart beats constantly. All sorts of berries, passion fruit, guava, dates, Banana’s, avocadoes and many types of beans are rich in Magnesium. Not only does juicing supply a rich source of these vitally important to the body vitamins and minerals the strain on the vital organs is eased through weight loss.
  7. 7. Detoxification of the body The liver has a lot of important functions, such as cleaning the blood and removing toxins and unwanted chemicals. As I stated earlier these toxins are found in a lot of the food we eat and are so common nowadays and juiced fruit and vegetables aids the dilution of these toxins and helps the body to extract them. You may have heard of the following list of nutrients which are all helpful in detoxifying the body by strengthening your liver; antioxidants beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, and N-acetyl cysteine and niacin. You will discover a rich source of these nutrients in; Lemons, oranges and limes, Onions, carrots, artichoke, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, garlic, beet, turmeric, and oregano.

Alkalizing your body (vegetables): You will most often find that fruit is acidic, to allow for a balance of this it is beneficial to eat foods which are more alkali (such as vegetables) which is why it is preferable to mix up fruit and vegetables when preparing to juice. This can be quite a complex process and requires a little help. It would take a long time (too much for this article) to cover all the reasons why your bodies PH level should be less acidic so I have set forth just a few reasons; • Help the brain to work better • makes sure the levels of blood sugar are correct • Ensures Cholesterol is at the right level • Efficient heart function • Ensures you have a healthy circulation • Makes sure energy levels are normal • Ensures healthy bones and joints, • The immune system is healthy • Good digestion
  10. 10. Ensuring a healthy skin with good hair, eyes and nails: Certain vitamins and minerals are great for healthy skin and hair. Vitamins A, C, E and Zinc (to name a few) Vitamin A helps to strengthen your teeth, soft tissue, mucous membranes, vision and skin. Vitamin A is found in dark green vegetables, Carrots, pumpkin, spinach, grapefruit, apricots and broccoli all these have beta carotene in healthy levels. Beta-carotene (which is an antioxidant), protects the body in its fight against free radicals, which sound like some subversive left-wing group but are some bad molecules that quickly age you and will contribute to some types of chronic disease . The health benefits of juicing blackberries and blueberries together will supply your body with a great source of vitamins C and E.
  11. 11. Not having enough riboflavin (vitamin B2) is known to be a cause of cracked lips, hair loss, dermatitis, skin that is greasy and other skin problems. Foods packed with Riboflavin are; Avocado, Banana, grapes, mangoes, passion fruit, mulberries, Kale, spinach, mushrooms and asparagus. For good healthy eyes the best vitamin is vitamin A and specifically beta-carotene, which is found in abundance in orange colored fruits and vegetables. The body converts Beta-carotene into vitamin A. I no doubt guess that you have heard it said that eating carrots help you to see better when it is dark! well you're not far from the mark, they have been scientifically proven to help your eyesight as vitamin A really helps your retina to work efficiently and prevent a condition called night blindness happening.
  12. 12. Burning off energy!! Because your juice is packed with minerals and vitamins means your body is supercharged with energy. Rather like filling only the best type of oil in your automobile rather than really low quality cooking oil or something similar, you get the idea!!
  13. 13. Losing some pounds You’re probably wondering when I was going to mention this. Is this what you might have been 'weighting' for (sorry!!) You could well know the answer, It could well be why you have reached this point. Nearly everyone has a sweet tooth (Unless you're not quite normal and most likely are not reading this anyway!) and what I love about juicing fresh fruit and vegetables is their natural sweetness, Only that which is natural and healthy not processed.
