  1. 1. nd2 Grade News Mrs. Ealy’s Class June 1, 2012 Letter from Mrs. Ealy Next Week’s SpecialsDear Parents, Monday- Field Day(Wear Sneakers & Sunscreen) I hope everyone had a wonderful relaxing three dayweekend. We were lucky to have such a beautiful Memorial Tuesday – ArtDay! Wednesday – Music and Computers We are in for the home stretch! There are only 5school days left! I can’t believe how fast the school year has Thursday – Music and P.E. (Wear Sneakers)flown by. I am so proud of each every student. I know theywill all do a great job in 3rd grade. Friday – P.E. (Wear Sneakers) Due to the weather today field day will be on Monday.Ms. A has worked extremely hard organizing this and I know itwill be a great time had by all! Remember to send your child What We’re Learning About!to school wearing sunscreen and tennis shoes on Monday. Wewill be outside all day. Our class will be walking around with Math – This week we continued to review using unit 12. StudentsMs. Gogowski’s kindergartners traveling from station to station worked on telling time, double digit subtraction, timelines, multiplication, division, and graphing. We continued with unit 12throughout the day. Be sure to say thank you to Ms. A if you next week!see her! Thank you to all the parents who volunteered theirtime yesterday to help with tie dying t-shirts! The students did Reading – During reader’s workshop this week we continueda great job and were very excited. Please wash the shirts working on a lot of test taking strategies for the reading portion of the MEAP next year. Next week we will be cleaning out our book bins!according to the directions sent home. We are all lookingforward to seeing how everyone’s shirt turned out on June 7th. Writing – This week students worked on their about the authorDon’t forget to wear it that day! paragraphs for the author’s tea. Thank you  writing and hard work next week! Even though it has been very warm outside, our roomis very cold. The air works great! Students may want to bring Social Studies – We continued to work on our social studies unit ona sweatshirt to school to wear when we are in our classroom. how communities change over time. We read two books about how Report Cards will be open for viewing on June 13th. a community changed over time for the better and for the worse. WeWe have also decided as a school that we will be mailing a copy will continue to read about how the Huron Valley area has changed over time and how the citizens affect the community.of the last report home to every child.
