  2. 2. WHAT IS INTERNET SUICIDE?An Internet suicide is a suicide conducted in full view of the public via the Internet, or pursuant to a cybersuicide pact, which is a suicide pactmade between individuals who meet on the Internet.
  3. 3. HOW CAN THIS LEAD TO HARM?It can lead to harm because suicide- risk individuals who go online for suicide-related purposes, compared with online users who did not, reported greater suicide-risk symptoms, were less likely to seek help.
  4. 4. . The Bridgend teen suicide pact (2008)This was a highly reported case were 17 teenagers committed suicide. Newspapers reported that seven of these deaths were linked with social networking websites although there is no evidence to prove this and a further six also died within the year.
  5. 5. .County Armagh pact (2007) This case was about three boys who used the internet to search for suicide forumsand chartrooms were suicide was discussed. All three boys attended the same school and made a suicide pact together. They died within months of each other by hanging.
  6. 6. .William Melchert-Dinkel (2010)Melchert-Dinkel was convicted in 2010of aiding two suicides. He encouraged people to commit suicide and he received satisfaction from watching them voyeuristically on webcam. Hewere able to convince his victims on anonline suicide chartroom by posing as someone he wasn’t.

WAS THERE ANY REGULATION? Internet suicide forums are easily accessible as you can just type it into Google and several websites are found. The Bridgend suicide case led to schools on suicide watch of their pupil. The anonymous aspects on the Internet it is possible for people to pose an imposter and lead those who are at risk of suicide into believing they are talking to someone in a similar situation.

IS THERE ANY WAY IT COULD BE REGULATED?Unless it was possible to be able to ban or censorany website regarding suicide there is no possible way for this to be regulated.On the internet you can easily find information telling you how to commit suicide and selfregulation isn’t possible in this case as it you’re asuicide risk you already have the intention to go ahead with the act.
