Pre Conditions for CSS Examination
 Fourteen Years of Education
 At least 2nd
division in B.A/B.Sc
28 years of Age
Note: Special age relaxation for candidates of Balochistan and FATA that is of
30 years

 Written Examination
Medical Test
Psychological Test
Viva Voce
Note: From 2015 onward CSS examination, there will be a Screening Test
before appearing in Written Examination

Subjects involved in Written Examination
1. Compulsory Subjects ( each subject carries 100 marks each total 600
marks)
i. English Essay
ii. English Composition ( Comprehension, precise, grammar, expansion of ideas)
iii. Islamiat
iv. Pakistan Affair
v. Everyday Science (Biology, chemistry, physics, Computer)
vi. Current Affair

2. Optional Subjects ( 600 marks)
1. Social Science like Political Science, Psychology, etc.
2. History like Indo Pak History, American History, etc.
3. Languages like Persian, Urdu, Arabic etc.
4. Law Subjects
5. Pure Sciences
Note: Selection of optional subjects need to be finalized keeping in view the
scoring trend of subjects
Only 200 marks can be opted from one group

Marks Distribution
• Written Part 1200 marks
• Interview Part 300 Marks
• Total Marks 1500 Marks
• Passing Marks 600 in written part that is 50% of written part
Note: Announcement of Final result with Merit Number is carried after all the
steps are being taken
