New Requirement from 1 July <ul><li>Besides submitting 2 hard copies of the thesis to ARR, a graduating research PG also need to submit an electronic version or &quot;soft copy&quot; of his/her thesis to the Library. </li></ul><ul><li>This electronic submission is part of the graduation requirement (mandatory, not optional). </li></ul><ul><li>The e-version will be stored in the HKUST Electronic Theses Database for archival and open access. </li></ul>

Submission Procedures <ul><li>Submit an exact PDF copy of the approved thesis to http://library.ust.hk/th-submit.pl </li></ul><ul><li>Print out the email confirmation notice </li></ul><ul><li>Sign the Electronic Thesis Agreement Form http://library.ust.hk/info/thesis-agreement.pdf </li></ul><ul><li>Submit all the following items to ARR: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>2 unbound hard copies (content = submitted soft copy) of your approved thesis, 1 copy to be kept by your department and 1 copy for Library circulation </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Email confirmation notice </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Signed e-thesis agreement form </li></ul></ul><ul><li>PhD students also need to submit the ProQuest Agreement Form </li></ul>

  7. 7. Why PDF <ul><li>Worldwide acceptance </li></ul><ul><li>Ease of creation and use </li></ul><ul><li>Compatibility with different computer platforms (Windows, Macintosh, Unix) </li></ul>

Do's and Don'ts <ul><li>Do submit an exact PDF copy of your approved thesis. </li></ul><ul><li>Do attach the email confirmation and the signed agreement form to the hard copies for submission to ARR. </li></ul><ul><li>Don't create the soft copy by scanning your thesis – large file size, lower quality and prevent indexing. </li></ul><ul><li>When you create the PDF file, don't &quot;lock&quot; the file – we need to insert the signed signature pages. </li></ul><ul><li>Don't submit more than 5 times in one day. </li></ul>
