Curricular Model in Catalonia Modular organization of the diploma - Professional subjects related to one or more training units. - Reinforcing subjects (basic training in each diploma). - Transversal subjects (included in all the VET diplomas) : Formació i orientació laboral (FOL) Empresa i iniciativa emprenedora (EIE) - Synthesis in the intermidiate VET diploma and final project in the advanced diplomas. - Foreing language as a subject and/or its implementation as part of the working methodology in class. - FCT : 350-400 h.
  9. 9. Curricular Model in Catalonia The professional subjects are organized into: Training Units (aprox. 30-60h). Have didactic coherence in the learning process. - Are valuable in the labour market. - Allow the access of adults (early school leavers) to formal education. - Can be used in lifelong learning programs.

Curricular Model in Catalonia Curriculum organization of the professional subjects and the training units in: - Learning outcomes (Resultats d’aprenentatge, RA). - Assesment criteria (Criteris d’avaluació, CA). - The contents related to each of the learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and competence).
  11. 11. Curricular Model in Catalonia - A Technical English subject (99 h). - Learning outcomes. - Project module. To improve language skills in English, it has been introduced in the curricula: Technical English has been included in all medium level VET diplomas.
  12. 12. English in VET - Listening comprehension. - Reading comprehension. - Speaking. - Writing. - Sociocultural and professional environment knowledge. The learning outcomes of the Technical English subject are related to:
  13. 13. English in VET - Professional information (read, write). In all medium level VET diplomas - Communication in English (speaking, writing) in professional situations. In some VET diplomas only. The learning outcomes that can be worked in any of the professional subjects other than technical English are related to:
  14. 14. English in VET - In the preparation of the written documentation. - In the presentation of the project. - In the development of any of the activities included in the project. In all VET diplomas it is compulsory to introduce English language in the synthesis or project subjects.
