In 2007, 300 million historic/cultural travelers took trips in the United States (i.e. 20 million visited the nine D.C. memorials). They want to be immersed in the sites and seek an informed experience that provides greater insights into history and culture where they can learn something new. The travel industry currently provides static paper guide books that do not fulfill the needs of the tech savvy, mobile-enabled affluent travelers with a keen interest in historical content and getting information at their fingertips. Additionally, mobile device manufacturers and telecoms, map providers and travel sites are looking for unique, value-added content to provide to their customers. ™
  3. 3. SOLUTION Vodomodo.com is a global new media company that creates and delivers smart, insightful mini-movie tours of the world’s most captivating sites to mobile devices. Our “tours” breathe new life into the travel experience by presenting the colorful histories, surprising details and unique personalities behind important landmarks and sites. VodoModo delivers multimedia rich video (and audio) mini-movie tours to travelers’ mobile devices. Each mini-movie is a flowing audio narrative combined with historic and contemporary photos; music; and videos that are engaging, educational and interesting. Travelers with money to spend and little familiarity with the area, also learn about dining, shopping and other recreational options nearby through VodoModo. We deliver the experience they seek in a way that complements their spontaneous lifestyle. ™
  4. 4. ROLL OUT VodoModo content is created by a national network of professional media talent including researchers; writers; voice-over narrators; photographers and content editors. VodoModo content producers work under exclusive agreements to develop tours at key destinations in exchange for revenue sharing. The company soft launched in Washington, D.C. in March 2009 and New York City in July. VodoModos’ official launch will coincide with its launch of Philadelphia in August 2008. Thereafter, a new city is launched every 4-12 weeks. The beta Web (vodomodo.com) and beta WAP (m.vodomodo.com) sites launched on March 17th 2009.   6. 6. LOCATION-BASED SERVICES (LBS) Location-based services (LBS) represent the ‘holy grail’ of marketing because content can be dynamically targeted based on a users’ location, in real time. To-date, the drawbacks in “location accuracy” of available LBS technologies, lack of widespread GPS mobile phone use, requirement of opting-in to deliver LBS ads and limited scope of LBS-only applications have hampered the success of LBS in the marketplace. VodoModo’s original mobile content is actively downloaded by the traveler. Unlike a billboard, travelers actively seek it. On VodoModo, the link to watch a mini-movie is paired with a link to What’s Nearby, which display businesses that are around the corner or across the street. In this way, content viewed denotes location. VodoModo delivers geographical and contextual-targeted location-based advertising which is welcome information to travelers in unfamiliar terrain, without the need for GPS. VodoModo is there, guiding travelers to the advertisers’ door through its patent pending mobile content driven LBS technology.   7. 7. MANAGEMENT TEAM Steve Radlinger is the President and Founder of VodoModo.com, LLC. Radlinger was the founder of apartmentrenting.com that raised 1.5 million dollars in 1999 and merged with New York-based apartmentsource.com during a 1.9 million second round in 2001.   Jim Bell serves as Senior Editor and has 40 years of newspaper experience, most recently as  Assistant National Editor/Washington Bureau at the Los Angeles Times.  He oversaw all stories from the paper's 50-person Washington Bureau and worked on stories ranging from Watergate and the Nixon resignation to the Monica Lewinsky scandal during the Clinton Administration.  Jim's byline has appeared in the Times and in the Kansas City Star, where he previously worked, as well as in various magazines. Matthew Wright serves as Director of New Media Production; his 20 plus year career in film and video production has included work for the corporate, advertising, entertainment and educational sectors. His experience includes producing for feature film and production management of principle photography for commercial broadcast, for agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, J. Walter Thompson and Leo Burnett. Matthew is an award winning producer and editor for educational and instructional video. ™

Prior to joining the USTA, Jacobus was vice president of corporate marketing for the National Football League (NFL) generating over $300 million in sponsorship revenue.   Larry Burnett is a shareholder in the Business Law Practive of Reinhard Boerner Van Deuren s.c.
