Lettuce, Cotton, And Paper
Some people feel that agriculture is just for farmers and people who live in the country. However, this
is not true. We all need the products produced on farms. Agriculture is important to me because I use
plants, and animals every day; my town relies on agriculture of its economy.
People use plants in their everyday lives by using things such as lettuce, cotton, and paper. Lettuce is
used by people when they eat it or when they feed it to their animals. Lettuce can be used in a salad or
put it on a sandwich. Cotton is another frequently used plant. Cotton is used in many things, it can be
used in clothing, in food for animals, and in some hygiene products. Paper is a common product used
daily in America. We use paper for books, notes,

crooked stick used to hit a ball, ice hockey was introduced into the olympics in 1920, the first all
women s team played in the 1998 olympics. Man that was some interesting background history now

3rd there can only be 1 winner unlike the olympic hockey you can win 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The awards
are different too like in the NHL you win MVP(Most valuable player), Stanley Cup, and the Conn

in the Olympics you can have 2 goalies on ice and dress 20 players, another weird rules are goalies

New York Stock Exchange Essay
On May 17, 1792 24 stock brokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement on Wall Street in New York
City under a Buttonwood tree. The agreement formed a centralized exchange that eliminated the need
for auctioneers. It also set up rules for the trading of public bonds that were used to pay for the
American Revolution. In 1817, a formal organization was setup and named the New York Stock
Exchange Board. In 1863 it was renamed the New York Stock Exchange and in 1903 it moved to its
present headquarters at 18 Broad Street. During the 19th century, most of the things traded in the
Stock Exchange were government bonds. Few corporations were in existence during this time but they
were primarily banks that people could buy and sell stocks. Over the centuries more companies joined
the exchange with the railroad industry dominating the market through the 20th century. The invention
of the telegraph allowed for easier trading and membership expansion. The current membership is
limited to 1,300. The organization is a nonprofit organization that minimizes fraudulent offers and
providing a safe investing environment. The market works by investors buying and selling shares of a

itself to the public and allowing women to be on the exchange floor, something that was not allowed

SEC, the New York Stock Exchange has worked to provide security for the public s investments.
Some of the security measures in place are requiring companies to provide detailed financial reports as

Healthcare Systems And The United Kingdom
Undoubtedly, healthcare services can maintain or improve both physical and mental health of
individuals and it is crucial for all the citizens. Therefore, a majority want to receive free and
approachable healthcare service irrespective of their social background, age or health status by the
government. However, a well organized and effective free healthcare system is complicated to provide
to the public and the government will face enormous challenges and dilemmas when they authorize
the citizens to access essential healthcare without any charge. This essay discusses two different
healthcare systems in the United Kingdom and the United States and analyses the effectiveness and
efficiency of both free public and private healthcare. It will be argued that the healthcare system will
be more effective if the health care is partially provided by the government free of charge and partly
provided by the private companies.
Firstly, the funding of universal healthcare predominantly comes from the taxation, therefore, it will
burden the taxpayers with heavy taxes; while a small proportion of individual cannot afford the private
health insurance in the private market, thus, two healthcare systems should implement together. In the
United Kingdom, National Health Service (NHS) provides a comprehensive range of health services
to all the residents (Aspalter et al, 2012, p.21), however, numerous of British against a rise in income

Semiquinone Radicals
Reduction of an electron from ring C in ANT causes to formation of free radical semiquinone. This
radical is partly stable in anoxic environment but under normoxic condition, its unpaired electron is
given to oxygen and superoxide radicals are formed. Appropriate flavoproteins such as complex I
catalyses reduced semiquinone radicals by accepting electrons from NADH or NADPH and delivering
them to ANT. This sequence of reactions are known as redox cycling that can be very deterious
(dangerous) because low amount of ANT is adequate for formation of many superoxide radicals (67).
This radical damage triggers production of highly toxic aldehydes such as malondialdehyde (MAD).
These aldehydes can diffuse easily in the cell and even from cell membrane

Uncle Tom s Cabin, by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Uncle Tom s Cabin has been explained as being a history of harmful acts towards Blacks in America
for a period of a hundred and thirty years (Stowe, Nineteenth ). 51).The book Uncle Tom s Cabin was
one of History s favorite books (Stowe, Nineteenth 1). It talks about how Tom would do anything for
the white man (Stowe, Uncle 1). The southerners did not give Harriet Beecher Stowe and credit for
writing the book (Piacentino 1). Uncle Tom showed a lot of Christianity in this book, but the master
showed no Christianity at all (Stowe, Uncle 1). Among the slave owners they used racial stereo types
among the blacks and the women (Piacentino 1). The women in this book were treated badly (Foster

Tom has good sense and is very kind (Stowe, Uncle 11). Uncle Tom was a very dark skinned man
(HIllegass 1). He was in his early fifties at the time (Hillegass 1). He would always play tricks with his
masters (Tanner 72). His cabin showed how Christians acted towards each other compared to Chloe s
cabin (Stowe, Uncle 10). Topsy, she was not the main character of this story, but played an important
part (Hillegass 10). She was about eight years old and she was a slave of St. Clare (Hillegass 1). She

Chile Trench Research Paper
The Peru Chile Trench, also known as the Atacama Trench, is an oceanic trench in the eastern Pacific
Ocean. It s a fault line that is 100 miles off the coast of Peru and Chile, and also happens to be the
fault line that we were assigned. The Peru Chile Trench reaches a maximum depth of 26,460 ft below
sea level in Richard Deep and is approximately 3,666 miles long, meaning that the width is 40 miles
and it covers an expanse of about 228,000 square miles.
The trench marks the subduction of the Nazca plate under the South American plate. The Nazca plate
is conveniently named after the Nazca region of the southern part of Peru, and is an oceanic plate in
the eastern Pacific Ocean, right off the west coast of South America. The subduction mentioned earlier
is when Nazca plate is forced down and goes under the South American plate, where it then digs into
the mantle. The subduction of the Nazca Plate below the South American Plate along the Chile Peru
Trench is associated with numerous earthquakes. Several of these earthquakes are notable for their
size, associated tsunamis or landslides. Nazca ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

south and had raised or lowered certain sections of the coast at least two meters. The earthquakes are
strong because Chile is located at the triple junction of three plates that makes the surface vibrate more

Research Paper On Guerrilla Marketing
As competitiveness between companies nowadays is every time more and more extended, brands need
to search for ways to make it stand out among the others. Guerilla marketing is one example of this
standing out goal.
Guerrilla marketing was originally a marketing strategy in which low cost, unconventional means
were used in a localized fashion to draw attention to an idea, product, or service. Today, guerrilla
marketing may also include promotion through a network of individuals, groups, or organizations
working to popularize a product or idea by use of such strategies as flash mobs, viral marketing
campaigns, or internet marketing.
The term guerrilla marketing is traced to guerrilla warfare, which employs atypical tactics to achieve
an objective.
Guerrilla marketing was initially used by small and medium sized businesses, but it is increasingly
being adopted by big business. This concept rises from a promotion that relies on imagination rather
than a big budget.
Why Guerilla Marketing? Marketing is such a huge topic, it has so many different utilities, but for me
guerilla is the most interesting one. We can find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

mid range. Their normal prices are between USD $400 to $500. But as I have researched Traders
Hotel services are very high. Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur services are as luxuries as Hilton Hotel

Essay About Travelling
Travelling lets you meet interesting people, get exposed to different cultures and customs. You ll end
up discovering exotic foods and places. Indeed, travelling lets you discover yourself what you don t
like and what you like, what bores you, what interests you or what makes you happy. Travelling opens
your mind and helps you become more understanding and accepting. It actually helps you to evolve as
a person and understand the things that have their values and attitudes. This in turn helps you better
appreciate the differences in culture, language, belief and religion without refusing it right away. In
this case, you become more mature, tolerant and understanding as you widen your horizons.

Keep Things Relaxed
Try not to set schedules so that you won t end up rushing about and getting stressed. Relax, and keep
feeling comfortable while travelling. In this way, you can see as much as you can and discover as
many things as possible at your own pace.
Always Keep Yourself Aware While Travelling
It s very common that people get so relaxed until they forget to be cautious of their properties and
belongings. It s always common for tourists to become a victim of pickpockets, so try not to bring
along so much cash with you. Never keep your wallet in the back pocket. Also, keep yourself vigilant
of your surroundings.
Take the City Tour
It s always a good idea to take a one day city tour to get you familiar with the area. You may also take

Patriotism In The United States
What is patriotism? Patriotism is the love that people feel for their country. A few examples of
patriotism are: 1. When we stand up for the pledge in the mornings. 2. When we stand up for the
National Anthem . Those are both examples of patriotism. America is a free country, so people should
be able to practice patriotism if they want to, but if they don t want to they shouldn t have to.
If someone wants to express them and their country they should be patriotic. But if they would much
rather not say anything they shouldn t have to. I do personally believe they should at least stand during
the pledge and put their hand on their heart. They don t necessarily have to say the pledge but they do

The courts gave limits to the application of section 49(2) by giving that the proof lies on the person or
accused (arrester) depending on the guardians of section 49(2), to show that his or her action fell in the
that particular section. The state had to show proof the root of the offence committed goes beyond a
sensible uncertainty.
The courts specified that section 49 needed a severer test, and that, that section shouldn t be given a
open minded meaning but rather, it should and must be interpreted and practiced but with limits
against the person that wants to depend on it (Burchell, 1997).
In Section 49, as it used to be, it was used by the law implementation agencies as a free means to kill
people. It was often seen as a discriminatory root most especially to the blacks mostly on the receiving

Flowers Symbolism In To Kill A Mockingbird
Flowers are an ongoing symbol in Harper Lee s novel To Kill a Mockingbird. They are used to relate
to or represent many of the characters all through the novel. The use of symbolism throughout this
work of fiction is essential because it gives a deeper understanding of the characters. Mayella Ewell
and the red geranium, Miss Maudie and her azaleas, Miss Dubose and her camellias, and Mayella
Ewell and the violet are four major uses of symbolism in the story. One use of symbolism in the novel
is when Mayella Ewell is compared to the red geranium. One corner of the yard, though, bewildered
Maycomb. Against the fence, in a line, were six chipped enamel slop jars holding brilliant geraniums,
cared for as tenderly as if they belonged to Miss Maudie Atkinson, had Miss Maudie deigned to
permit a geranium on her premises. People said they were Mayella Ewell s (pg. 194). Known as the
poor man s rose, the red geranium symbolizes gentility. The flowers growing in the filthy jars
represent Mayella and the conditions she lived in. Mayella was a young girl that was living a terrible
life and had no form of beauty in her life. Attending to those flowers had finally gave Mayella a form
of beauty and hope. They showed Mayella that underneath the ugly and unappealing, there is still
beauty. Another form of symbolism is when Miss Maudie is compared to her azaleas. Miss Maudie
hated her house: time spent indoors was time wasted. She was a widow, a chameleon lady who
worked in her flower

Educating on the ways to handle these situations will be ideal for identifying and resolving.

Protostar Nuclear Fusion
Just like humans, everything in the universe has a purpose. From the beginning of the moment
anything is created into existence it grows and fulfills its purpose. Stars are no different. Every day,
stars are created by gravity which pulls the star together, the star builds up heat and pressure, and then
fusion begins. The process in which a star goes through is known as a star s life cycle. All stars start at
the basic nebula phase, change to a protostar, and go on to the main sequence star phase. After the
main sequence star phase, there are two different divisions that are determined by the mass of the star.

Foliage Turn So Red And Fiery Summary
Non Academic article: Why Does Fall Foliage Turn So Red and Fiery? It depends This article
summaries about the fall colors. Now, the leavers scream in the last cries before dropping onto the
ground. Some of the leaves turn into gold color, scarlet, crimson, brown bellows and finally drop on a
floor in autumn. Currently, we are in foliage season, which is peaking and all of us peep at the fiery
show. Some of the places are highly crowded like hiking trains, mountain roads, leaf cams and so on.
It appears to be pretty. In depth, the actual reason for the leaves which starts with yellow and turns to
green because of the chemical chlorophyll by undergoing the photosynthesis process. But due to the
change in the weather like rain, drought, temperature change and daylight, the chlorophyll breaks and
shows yellow or orange color, which are called carotene chemical. The story behind red color is that
as some of the leaves die they generate anthocyanins chemical which builds the sugars, as of this
chemical it gets red pigment combined with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Power Of Music In Sam Cooke s Song, A Change
Music is intrinsically woven through the timeline of humanity, and is used to accomplish many
different outcomes. These outcomes can come from the writer or from the user, and are as varied as
achieving public awareness to finishing a paper with the help of calming and soothing sounds. From
the 1960 s, until today, music reminds people of where they were when tragedy struck, when their
world was broadened by awareness of new movements or cultures, or they were exposed to a different
political or social ideology due to the writer s opinions and feelings. However, music is only capable
of informing and causing change if it is spread by the media and then the masses. Each decade had
music that connected the mood of time to events that took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The black community wanted Jim Crow laws abolished, and to enjoy the same rights as the white
community (Jim Crow, 2014). Jim Crow laws allowed a hotel, in Louisiana, to revoke a prior
reservation to Sam Cooke and his family. So, in 1964, Cooke wrote a song called A Change is Gonna
Come. This was not one of Cooke s most famous songs, was released after his death, and was the B
side to his song Shake. While the reservation refusal was the catalyst, the song is more about the
overall unjust treatment of blacks and was to become an anthem for the civil rights movement. I go to
the movie and I go down town. Somebody keep telling me don t hang around references the Jim Crow
laws, and the chorus of It s been a long, a long time coming. But I know a change gon come, oh yes it

song live, on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and brought the song to the awareness of the
entire country, due to Johnny s popularity. However, placing it on the B side of a dance song would

The Holy Spirit and the Christian Mission
The Holy Spirit and the Christian Mission Introduction The Holy Spirit is one of the most important
concepts in the Christian world and every true Christian needs to have a complex understanding of
this idea in order to be able to serve God to his or her full potential. The Holy Spirit is believed to play
an important role in the Christian church s missionary approach. Many people consider that the Holy
Spirit is one of the best solutions to situations where individuals come across problems in
communicating to each other. The Holy Spirit makes it possible for individuals to refrain from putting
across confusing thinking and assists them in expressing ideas that can be easily understood by their
interlocutors. The Holy Spirit as seen from a general perspective The masses need to understand that
most ideas can seem absurd if the Holy Spirit is not present. Thus, they need to get actively involved
in introducing this concept in their thinking in order to express information that is as clear as it can
possibly be. Even with this, people should not abandon their need for information as a result of
considering that the Holy Spirit does all the work for them. They should create a balance between their
dedication to being believers and their thirst for knowledge. Some seem to imagine that if the Holy
Spirit is to be in full control, they must entirely eliminate themselves (Stott 189). The Spirit does not
attempt to suppress people s personalities, as it actually tries

Hepatic Portal Vein Obstruction ( Ehpvo )
Introduction: Extra hepatic portal vein obstruction (EHPVO), i.e., in the absence of liver cirrhosis or
abdominal cancer, is a rare manifestation of venous thrombosis that often leads to portal
hypertension1.After prothrombin, factor V, next most common cause of thrombophilia is high plasma
levels of coagulation factor VIII, which are present in approximately 20% of patients with deep vein
thrombosis (DVT) of the lower limbs and increase the risk of the disease in a dose dependent manner
2. Like fibrinogen, factor VIII is an acute phase reactant whose concentration rises in plasma in the
presence of inflammation. However, high factor VIII levels are associated with an increased risk of
DVT independently of the acute phase reaction3.
Case report: A 21 year old male in good health and with no significant past medical history presented
with abdominal pain for 2 months in epigastric and left hypochondrium. He is not on any drugs.
History of similar complaints in his younger sister and she died 2 years back without any evaluation. A
contrast enhanced computed tomography scan of the abdomen showed superior mesenteric vein
thrombosis with multiple collaterals in perigastric and porta hepatis. A coagulation profile work up
was done. His factor VIII activity concentration was found to be 260% of normal (normal: 60 150).

The Road Not Taken Vs. Gulf Coast Oil Spill
Every person has two choices in life. Whichever plan you decide to take will determine your future

always affect their life. In the text, Gulf Coast Oil Spill the ocean floors are extremely polluted. Both
the poem and the text have a long term impact greatly affected someone s life, or affected the ocean

having to decide which path to take in life. The speaker has a hard time deciding which path to take.
The speaker eventually decides to take the path not many people have to taken. The symbolizes that
this person would rather live their life different from everyone else. The author writes the poem in a
certain way which is influenced by the setting. The setting is taken place in in a grassy area with two

Why Is Alexander Brongniart Important
Alexander Brongniart s earliest scientific papers was accepted in 1791 was on various zoological and

Brongniart s grouping of the true reptiles into chelonians, saurians, and ophidians has been retained, in
essence, in modern systematics.
In 1807 Brongniart published Elementary mineralogy Treaty, a work assigned as a textbook for his
and Haüy s courses at the Faculty of Sciences and the Natural History Museum. Like other
mineralogists at this time, he could not easily distinguish some fine grained rocks from true simple
minerals.
Brongniart s early studies in zoology and mineralogy coalesced in the geological work that made him
famous throughout the scientific world. Cuvier had already begun his series of spectacular
reconstructions of extinct mammals from the Paris region; these fossils clearly belonged to several
distinct periods, but he needed a reliable clue to their relative ages. He and Brongniart therefore
collaborated in surveying the region and determining the order of the strata in which the fossils ...

problem of geological facies. Rocks of the same age could not be expected to have the same
lithological characters if they were deposited under different conditions in different areas. Even within

became more general. It was this that led him to stress the primacy of fossil evidence over that of
lithology as a criterion for age, wherever the two sources of evidence were found to

The Crusades And The Cuban Missile Crisis
For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all
breathe the same air. We all cherish our children s future. And we are all mortal ( Nuclear Test Ban
Treaty ). These words were said by John F. Kennedy in June 1963, when there were signs of lessening
tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union, and signed the Limited Nuclear Test Ban
Treaty, which forbid nuclear weapon tests or other nuclear explosions under water, in the atmosphere,
or in irradiated outer space. It allowed underground nuclear tests as long as no radioactive debris falls

It began when the United States discovered that there were missiles in their neighboring country Cuba.
The missiles stationed in Cuba, belonged to the Soviet Union. Also, the United States placed their
missiles in the Soviet neighboring country of Turkey and in the southern part of the nearby country of
Italy. Kennedy and his advisers were planning to launch missiles into Soviet territory, but at the last
second, he called off his top advisers and canceled the nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. The Cuban
Missile Crisis is like the Crusades in early first millennia. Cuba would represent Jerusalem, the
parenthetical focus of the Crusades. The U.S. would represent the Christians, who won the Crusades
because the United States would eventually win the Cold War. The U.S.S.R. would represent the
Muslims, who lost the the Crusades because the Soviets lost the war in the end. The Cuban Missile
Crisis can be similar to the Crusades because both events started almost the same way. The Crusades
started when Muslims wanted to conquer land near Jerusalem, the holy city that belong to the
Christians, just like the Soviets and Cuba. The Christians were afraid that the Muslims would take
over the city of Jerusalem, just like the U.S. thought that the Soviets were going to launch missiles
into the United States. November 25, 2016, Fidel Castro, former President and Communist Leader of
Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, died. No one is sure if the force of the revolution and the crisis
will dissipate without Mr. Castro and, eventually, his brother. But Fidel Castro s impact on Latin
America and the Western Hemisphere has the earmarks of lasting indefinitely (DePalma). The
capacity of his identity remains inevitable, for better or worse, not only in Cuba but also throughout

Toni Morrison And Virginia Woolf s The Bluest Eye
Essentialists claim that women writers tend to avoid difficult societal issues, such as gender, race, and
political concepts. They critiqued that women prefer to be safe when it comes to the style of their
works, but that could not be farther than the truth. These women, have in fact, made a tremendous
impact on society and sculpted the way we see things in the world today. Toni Morrison, author of The
Bluest Eye, challenged the Essentialists claim by making a novel about racism, and how it affected
African American culture in the 20th century. Margaret Atwood, author of The Handmaid s Tale,
challenged this notion by addressing issues about sexual violence and political issues, except in the
shape of an extremist and dystopian world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The characters who were apart of the African community are forced to accept themselves as the
outsiders , which has been told to them by the upper class white community. Morrison shows how
these stereotypes tormented the brains of many, sometimes to the point of losing their minds. The
black community was taunted by the white people, and Morrison made the focus of the novel a young
group of little girls who are just realizing the horrors of the world. Not only does the novel discuss
racism and it s effect on the black community, but it discusses the unrealistic expectations of beauty in
our society. Even the title of the novel The Bluest Eye displays a stereotypical viewpoint of beauty.
For example in the story Pecola Breedlove yearns to have blue eyes. She hopes that one day she will
be able to transform, and therefore be loved by others because of her new blue eyes. Eventually,
Pecola goes crazy, thinking that she has the bluest eyes. Toni Morrison discussing an issue such as
racism and unrealistic beauty standards is surely not what I call a safe call, but instead, a bold and
intimidating one. Personally, this felt like a way of describing what happens to a person who wants to
change themselves physically and becomes distorted in the process...because it is, in fact, unrealistic
to drastically change one s appearance. Margaret

If the gestational diabetes is not under control, the baby will also have high blood glucose. The baby s
pancreas will have to make extra insulin to control the high blood glucose. The extra glucose in the
baby s blood is stored as fat.
Untreated or uncontrolled gestational diabetes can cause problems for the baby, such as being born
with a larger than normal body a condition called macrosomia which can make delivery difficult and
more dangerous for your baby having low blood glucose, also called hypoglycemia, right after birth
having breathing problems, a condition called respiratory distress syndrome having a higher chance of

The baby also might be born with jaundice. Jaundice is more common in newborns of mothers who
had diabetes during their pregnancy. With jaundice, the skin and whites of the eyes turn yellow.
Jaundice usually goes away, but the baby may need to be placed under special lights to help. Making
sure the baby gets plenty of milk from breastfeeding will also help the jaundice go away.

Black Finger
The Black Finger Angelina Grimke s poem, The Black Finger is one of the shortest poems that we

may have missed before. In all of my readings I haven t necessarily picked up on any new words or
phrases that lead me to believe new things. I have, however, formed new visions of what she is trying

You ve came from such sorrow but you now have these things going for you. You have no reason not
to be, so stand up, be proud, and tell us all why you are pointing upwards. I am not completely sold on
this idea but I also think that Grimke might have said pointing upwards as a sign that maybe the black
race is on the rise and moving up in the world. It could also possibly be foretelling that they will be on
the rise. I talked in the paragraph before about the gold in the sky. When she talks about the tree
pointing up, I think that the finger is possibly pointing to the gold. It is pointing to what is to come for
the African American people.
In the poem, Grimke uses many descriptive words to describe the tree, finger, or black person.
Whichever it truly is. Sensitive . Exquisite . Beautiful . I think that anybody would probably use these
words if they were talking about their own people. But the thing I like about this is that these
descriptive words really seem to describe the black people, or writers, during the Harlem Renaissance.
They are really coming into their own during this time period and the words sensitive and exquisite
are perfect for what was going on at that time.
The only part of the poem that I haven t discussed is the question at the end where she asks Why,
beautiful, still finger are you black? I pretty much have a theory for the rest of the poem and reasons to
back it up, but I am

Social Norm Of Having Children Essay
The world has always followed some type of order from the first day it was created up until now.
People in society have always struggled with following and abiding by the social norms in their
culture. In the past it was normal for women to get married and have children all before the age of
twenty. Over time, that became the social norm or lifestyle that everyone was following. Just as
quickly as that norm developed it changed. Ever since the early two thousands, having children in
your teenage years was frowned upon (Hart S., 2012). It quickly became normal for women in society
to hold off on having children until they were in their twenties and sometimes even later. The norm

America is country that follows a broad set of norms that are easy to conform to but when broken the
effects are devastating. To break the norm of the order of having children can impact the mother

being ostracized from that society until they are able to conform again. Teen motherhoods makes it
extremely difficult to finish high school, get a career, and assimilate into the working world. There is a
stigma that teen mothers are unable to move up in society because they violated a strong social norm
and are set back even farther than they imagined. With social media on the rise, it also has an effect on
young adults and their perception of teen pregnancy. An editor from Does 16 and Pregnant Prevent or

Luis Valdez wrote Los Vendidos in order to address his view of the Mexican culture and in reference
to the prejudices that surrounded him. The play defines four versions of Mexican men, shop owner
Honest Sancho is trying to sell to a Secretary in Governor Reagan s political office. The buildup of
characters: The Farmworker, Johnny Pachuco, The Revolucionario, and the Mexican American,
symbolizes an evolution of what society deems the ideal Mexican American should be. Los Vendidos

The racist connotation that Miss Jimenez associates with who she thinks would fit in society s box is a
definite reflection of the hardships Valdez witnessed in his community. For example, the Zoot Suit
Riots that occurred in 1944 was rooted by a reaction by young Mexican American males against a
culture that did not want them to be a part of it. Stuart Cosgrove examines this issue when he states, In
the most obvious ways they had been stripped of their customs, beliefs and language. (*Vargas 317)
These youths were going through an identity crisis because they did not know which culture they
could identify with. Miss Jimenez is a character that embodies that repression Valdez explains in Los
Vendidos. As the scene progresses, Sancho demonstrates the Farmworker s capabilities and strong
work ethics the scene develops into a political parody. Sancho explains this particular model is
designed to go on strike. The Farmworker rebels against society in this scene and Miss Jimenez
quickly moves onto the next model in fear this outspoken Farmworker would cause a rebellion instead
of shedding positively on her (and the Reagan administration s) view of the ideal Mexican. The play
continues with Johnny Pachuco, who is the stereotypical Mexican gangster. He is the type that uses
weapons and steals from people. He has trouble with the law, gets arrested, and is

  • 6. Healthcare Systems And The United Kingdom Undoubtedly, healthcare services can maintain or improve both physical and mental health of individuals and it is crucial for all the citizens. Therefore, a majority want to receive free and approachable healthcare service irrespective of their social background, age or health status by the government. However, a well organized and effective free healthcare system is complicated to provide to the public and the government will face enormous challenges and dilemmas when they authorize the citizens to access essential healthcare without any charge. This essay discusses two different healthcare systems in the United Kingdom and the United States and analyses the effectiveness and efficiency of both free public and private healthcare. It will be argued that the healthcare system will be more effective if the health care is partially provided by the government free of charge and partly provided by the private companies. Firstly, the funding of universal healthcare predominantly comes from the taxation, therefore, it will burden the taxpayers with heavy taxes; while a small proportion of individual cannot afford the private health insurance in the private market, thus, two healthcare systems should implement together. In the United Kingdom, National Health Service (NHS) provides a comprehensive range of health services to all the residents (Aspalter et al, 2012, p.21), however, numerous of British against a rise in income tax to pay more towards the NHS since the systems are ... • 7. Semiquinone Radicals Reduction of an electron from ring C in ANT causes to formation of free radical semiquinone. This radical is partly stable in anoxic environment but under normoxic condition, its unpaired electron is given to oxygen and superoxide radicals are formed. Appropriate flavoproteins such as complex I catalyses reduced semiquinone radicals by accepting electrons from NADH or NADPH and delivering them to ANT. This sequence of reactions are known as redox cycling that can be very deterious (dangerous) because low amount of ANT is adequate for formation of many superoxide radicals (67). This radical damage triggers production of highly toxic aldehydes such as malondialdehyde (MAD). These aldehydes can diffuse easily in the cell and even from cell membrane ... The term guerrilla marketing is traced to guerrilla warfare, which employs atypical tactics to achieve an objective. Guerrilla marketing was initially used by small and medium sized businesses, but it is increasingly being adopted by big business. In 1804 Pierre Latreille elevated the batrachians into a separate class, the amphibians, Brongniart s grouping of the true reptiles into chelonians, saurians, and ophidians has been retained, in essence, in modern systematics. In 1807 Brongniart published Elementary mineralogy Treaty, a work assigned as a textbook for his and Haüy s courses at the Faculty of Sciences and the Natural History Museum. Like other mineralogists at this time, he could not easily distinguish some fine grained rocks from true simple minerals. Brongniart s early studies in zoology and mineralogy coalesced in the geological work that made him famous throughout the scientific world. Cuvier had already begun his series of spectacular reconstructions of extinct mammals from the Paris region; these fossils clearly belonged to several distinct periods, but he needed a reliable clue to their relative ages. He and Brongniart therefore collaborated in surveying the region and determining the order of the strata in which the fossils ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But this extension of Tertiary stratigraphy over a wider geographical area posed the fundamental problem of geological facies. Rocks of the same age could not be expected to have the same lithological characters if they were deposited under different conditions in different areas. Even within the Paris region Brongniart had recognized lateral changes in lithology; on a wider scale the changes became more general. It was this that led him to stress the primacy of fossil evidence over that of lithology as a criterion for age, wherever the two sources of evidence were found to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Crusades And The Cuban Missile Crisis For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children s future. And we are all mortal ( Nuclear Test Ban Treaty ). These words were said by John F. Kennedy in June 1963, when there were signs of lessening tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union, and signed the Limited Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, which forbid nuclear weapon tests or other nuclear explosions under water, in the atmosphere, or in irradiated outer space. It allowed underground nuclear tests as long as no radioactive debris falls outside the boundaries of the nation conducting the test ( Nuclear Test Ban Treaty ), and pledged the signatories to work towards ... The missiles stationed in Cuba, belonged to the Soviet Union. Also, the United States placed their missiles in the Soviet neighboring country of Turkey and in the southern part of the nearby country of Italy. Kennedy and his advisers were planning to launch missiles into Soviet territory, but at the last second, he called off his top advisers and canceled the nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. The Cuban Missile Crisis is like the Crusades in early first millennia. Cuba would represent Jerusalem, the parenthetical focus of the Crusades. The U.S. would represent the Christians, who won the Crusades because the United States would eventually win the Cold War. The U.S.S.R. would represent the Muslims, who lost the the Crusades because the Soviets lost the war in the end. The Cuban Missile Crisis can be similar to the Crusades because both events started almost the same way. The Crusades started when Muslims wanted to conquer land near Jerusalem, the holy city that belong to the Christians, just like the Soviets and Cuba. The Christians were afraid that the Muslims would take over the city of Jerusalem, just like the U.S. thought that the Soviets were going to launch missiles into the United States. November 25, 2016, Fidel Castro, former President and Communist Leader of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, died. • 33. Toni Morrison And Virginia Woolf s The Bluest Eye Essentialists claim that women writers tend to avoid difficult societal issues, such as gender, race, and political concepts. They critiqued that women prefer to be safe when it comes to the style of their works, but that could not be farther than the truth. These women, have in fact, made a tremendous impact on society and sculpted the way we see things in the world today. Toni Morrison, author of The Bluest Eye, challenged the Essentialists claim by making a novel about racism, and how it affected African American culture in the 20th century. Margaret Atwood, author of The Handmaid s Tale, challenged this notion by addressing issues about sexual violence and political issues, except in the shape of an extremist and dystopian world. ... The characters who were apart of the African community are forced to accept themselves as the outsiders , which has been told to them by the upper class white community. Morrison shows how these stereotypes tormented the brains of many, sometimes to the point of losing their minds. The black community was taunted by the white people, and Morrison made the focus of the novel a young group of little girls who are just realizing the horrors of the world. Not only does the novel discuss racism and it s effect on the black community, but it discusses the unrealistic expectations of beauty in our society. Even the title of the novel The Bluest Eye displays a stereotypical viewpoint of beauty. For example in the story Pecola Breedlove yearns to have blue eyes. She hopes that one day she will be able to transform, and therefore be loved by others because of her new blue eyes. Eventually, Pecola goes crazy, thinking that she has the bluest eyes. Toni Morrison discussing an issue such as racism and unrealistic beauty standards is surely not what I call a safe call, but instead, a bold and intimidating one. Personally, this felt like a way of describing what happens to a person who wants to change themselves physically and becomes distorted in the process...because it is, in fact, unrealistic to drastically change one s appearance. As far as I m concerned, it is also one of the most intriguing poems that we have read this year. I have read the poem at least thirty or forty times trying to pick up on new things that I may have missed before. In all of my readings I haven t necessarily picked up on any new words or phrases that lead me to believe new things. I have, however, formed new visions of what she is trying to say and why she uses certain things and objects in the text. I am not completely sold on this idea but I also think that Grimke might have said pointing upwards as a sign that maybe the black race is on the rise and moving up in the world. It could also possibly be foretelling that they will be on the rise. I talked in the paragraph before about the gold in the sky. When she talks about the tree pointing up, I think that the finger is possibly pointing to the gold. It is pointing to what is to come for the African American people. In the poem, Grimke uses many descriptive words to describe the tree, finger, or black person. Whichever it truly is. Sensitive . Exquisite . Beautiful . I think that anybody would probably use these words if they were talking about their own people. But the thing I like about this is that these descriptive words really seem to describe the black people, or writers, during the Harlem Renaissance. They are really coming into their own during this time period and the words sensitive and exquisite are perfect for what was going on at that time. People in society have always struggled with following and abiding by the social norms in their culture. In the past it was normal for women to get married and have children all before the age of twenty. Over time, that became the social norm or lifestyle that everyone was following. Just as quickly as that norm developed it changed. Ever since the early two thousands, having children in your teenage years was frowned upon (Hart S., 2012). The play defines four versions of Mexican men, shop owner Honest Sancho is trying to sell to a Secretary in Governor Reagan s political office. The buildup of characters: The Farmworker, Johnny Pachuco, The Revolucionario, and the Mexican American, symbolizes an evolution of what society deems the ideal Mexican American should be. The racist connotation that Miss Jimenez associates with who she thinks would fit in society s box is a definite reflection of the hardships Valdez witnessed in his community. For example, the Zoot Suit Riots that occurred in 1944 was rooted by a reaction by young Mexican American males against a culture that did not want them to be a part of it. Stuart Cosgrove examines this issue when he states, In the most obvious ways they had been stripped of their customs, beliefs and language. (*Vargas 317) These youths were going through an identity crisis because they did not know which culture they could identify with. Miss Jimenez is a character that embodies that repression Valdez explains in Los Vendidos. As the scene progresses, Sancho demonstrates the Farmworker s capabilities and strong work ethics the scene develops into a political parody. Sancho explains this particular model is designed to go on strike. The Farmworker rebels against society in this scene and Miss Jimenez quickly moves onto the next model in fear this outspoken Farmworker would cause a rebellion instead of shedding positively on her (and the Reagan administration s) view of the ideal Mexican.
