This document discusses how human activity has negatively impacted the environment and contributed to global warming. It states that humans have polluted rivers, seas, lakes and the air, and have cut down thousands of trees in rainforests. This has resulted in less snow and more forest fires. The document then provides information on greenhouse gases, how solar rays heat the Earth's surface and atmosphere, and how infrared rays emitted from the Earth are absorbed by greenhouse gases, warming the planet. It explains that deforestation and burning fossil fuels increase carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, which is a major greenhouse gas. This suggests that human-caused increases in greenhouse gases are a primary driver of global warming.
The document discusses homophones, which are words that sound the same but differ in meaning or spelling. It provides examples of different types of homophones, including words that are spelled the same like rose/rose, and words that sound the same but are spelled differently, like wait/weight. The document encourages trying an example homophone question to test understanding of homophones.
This document provides an overview of cool tools for schools, including ICT tools that can be used to support curriculum standards. It discusses putting ICT in context with the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) and using ICT for interdisciplinary learning, visualizing thinking, creating, and communicating. Specific Google tools are highlighted for searching efficiently. Various Web 2.0 tools are presented for teachers, including sites for bookmarking, images, video, collaboration, concept mapping, timelines, literacy, and other uses like physics problem solving. Cyber safety tips are also included.

Active learning methods are known to improve academic achievement. Flipped learning takes advantage of preparation activities to increase student engagement. But how do we approach the design of such experiences?
Solar power can play an important role in smart cities by powering sensors and devices anywhere they are needed, without the cost and disruption of running power lines. Small solar panels and batteries can provide reliable power for systems that monitor conditions like traffic, temperature, and air quality. These solar-powered smart devices can wirelessly transmit data to help cities efficiently manage resources and infrastructure in real-time, improving traffic flow, targeting road gritting, and more. By deploying sensors wherever useful data can be collected, solar power allows smart cities to maximize information gathering and decision making.
