What is typhoon?
● A system of thunderstorms that move around a center
● It is a giant, rotating storm that brings wind, rain, and
destruction.
● Develops in the Northwestern part of the Pacific Ocean
between 180°N and 100° East.
● Form between June and November (formation is at a
minimum between December and May)

The term typhoon is used in the
northwestern part of the Pacific
Ocean. In the northeastern part
of Pacific Ocean and in northern
part of Atlantic Ocean, it is called
hurricane. In Indian Ocean it is
called tropical cyclone.

enters the PAR ( Philippine Area of Responsibility ) the
weather bureau begins to monitor it.
PAG-ASA ( Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical,
Astronomical Services Administration ) is a branch of
government that monitors and alerts the public of
atmospheric condition in areas of the
Philippines.
Ensure that a proper weather forecast will be given and
allow people in the concerned areas to be ready for
whatever action is needed to be done.
Responsible in giving PSWS (Public Storm Warning Signal)

PAGASA monitors weather
occurrences.
