Uber Company Analysis
Uber was founded in 2009 by Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick. It launched its first service, Uber Black, in 2011 and expanded to include UberX in 2012. In 2017, Dara Khosrowshahi became CEO after Travis Kalanick. In 2020, Uber acquired Careem for $3.1 billion to expand into the Middle East, Africa, and Asia markets. While Uber has grown significantly, it continues to lose money on each ride and operate at a net loss as it works to dominate the ride sharing market through subsidies and investments in new services like food delivery and freight.
