Bridget Bradbury Biography
Bridget Stutchbury is a biologist and ornithologist, who was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1962, but
was brought up in Toronto, Canada. She received her M.Sc. from Queen s University and her Ph.D.
from Yale. She was also a postdoctoral fellow, a person doing research after receiving their doctorate
degree, and a research associate at the Smithsonian Institution. Bridget became interested in songbirds
in the 1980s. She studies the migrations of the tiniest birds and the threats posed upon them.
(Cameron, 2013) Stutchbury had many questions such as: why do certain birds mate five or ten times
an hour, how are mates chosen and how do they care for their offspring, and many more. She followed
these songbirds to Latin America, their wintering grounds, and North America, ... Show more content

The probability of nest survival didn t change treatments, but density was usually higher in logged
sites than reference sites. In recently logged sites, brown headed cowbird parasitism was higher and
reference sites produced more Hooded Warbler young per successful nest than standard selection
harvest sites. Fledgling survival wasn t negatively impacted by logging treatment. Overall, more than
50% of fledglings survived up to three weeks after sites had the highest Hooded Warbler density, they
also had the lowest seasonal productivity, which raises the possibility of an ecological trap. The
number of daughters produced top female per year that are expected to survive to their breeding age
was lower in all treatments than the expected annual mortality of adult females. Regardless of the
extent of partial harvest within the fragments, forest cut downs appear to be population sinks. (Eng,

It has been a decade since Kolkata s Saint of Gutters , Mother Teresa went home to God. But
Missionaries of Charity, the order established by Mother in 1950, still continues to feel her divine
presence around. The moment one enters the premises of Mother s House on AJC Bose Road in
central Kolkata, one is overwhelmed by a feeling of warmth, peace and serenity like one has never
experienced before. Two days before her tenth death anniversary, the spirit of Mother Teresa rests in
peace in a white marble tomb, built in the middle of Mother s House, and is surrounded by devotees,
who sit with their heads bowed, paying a silent tribute to the lady who gave up everything to serve the
poorest of the poor . Service to the poorest of the poor still continues to be the fundamental article of
faith in Missionaries of Charity.

Theme Of Self-Determination In Through The Tunnel
Throughout the story Through the Tunnel, the most important theme that recurs is self determination.
The boy in the story, Jerry, has demonstrated this self determination by pushing himself through tough
situations. One of these situations was when Jerry saw the French boys playing in the ocean. In the
text, it said, To be with them, of them, was a craving that filled his whole body. (244) This quote
proves his determination because later on in the story, he then swam toward them. Eventually, they
started playing, and the boys yelled cheerful greetings at him. That s when Jerry knew that he was
welcomed in. Without his determination in this scene, Jerry wouldn t have been able to play with the
boys. Jerry demonstrates self determination in

Global Epistemological Skepticism Essay
Epistemological skepticism is the idea that individuals lack knowledge or justification for a specific
group of propositions (Barnett, 2014). Skepticism with respect to all propositions is known as global
skepticism, and it reveals that knowledge is nonexistent (2014). The regress problem is a difficulty in
epistemology, where an idea has to be justified, because the justification itself has to have further
reasoning (2014). The infinite regress argument concludes that individuals lack justification and
knowledge (since knowledge requires justification) through its premises, but non doxastic evidence
ends the regress argument without circularity or arbitrariness. The infinite regress argument dates back
to Sectus Empiricus, 3rd century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, B cannot be a reason for B itself, and second, a reason for B cannot alternate between B and that
reason. In other words, circular reasoning is expelled from being proper justification, and foundational
reasons are not sufficient due to the absence of a further reason. If both conditions are true, then the
chain of reasons for any belief is potentially infinite or unlimited. The problem with infinitism is that
an infinite number of beliefs, whether potential or not, do not exist. Humans have finite minds and
finite lives, and eventually after being questioned numerous times there will be no more reasons that
could be possibly formed to justify a belief. For example, when a child continues to ask his or her
parent Why? , after a series of reasons the parent will not be able to devise an answer to the question.
Therefore, infinitism is not a strong response to skepticism. Coherentism is the view that individuals
have justified beliefs, which result from a finite system of beliefs that promote each other non
circularly without the requirement for justification outside of the system (2014). For coherentism,
justification is a procedure in which all of the beliefs are seen wholly as a system rather than
individual parts. For example, V , V , and V are beliefs. The beliefs V , V , and V work together to
achieve epistemic justification without the need for any further

Plato s Apology

Human Wisdom
There are many different concepts and thoughts that can be taken from Plato s The Apology. It is my
personal opinion that Socrates views on wisdom, or more specifically, human wisdom, are among the
most paramount of points that should be taken and understood by the reader. Throughout his defense,
Socrates uses the concept of human wisdom (or the lack thereof) as an argument for his acquittal.
According to Socrates human wisdom has little value, and the only reason he is wiser than most men
is because he knows that he lacks human wisdom. Throughout the apology it would seem that wisdom
is not merely a single entity, rather, there are multiple types ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Socrates begins by discussing why his previous accusers accused him of what he did. I will try to
show you what has caused this reputation and slander...is none other than a certain kind of wisdom
(20d, 23a). His next point on human wisdom, is that it is not very valuable; That one of you, O human
beings, is wisest who, like Socrates, has become cognizant that in truth he is worth nothing with
respect to wisdom (23b). Socrates still believes however, that thinking about and examining wisdom is
extremely important to live a fulfilling life.
This first type of wisdom seems to be a concept of using wisdom as way to care for the soul.
I men of Athens, salute you and love you, but I will obey the god rather than you, and as long as I
draw breath and am able, I shall not cease to practice philosophy, to exhort you and in my usual way
to point out to any one of you whom I happen to meet: Good Sir, you are an Athenian, a citizen of the
greatest city with the greatest reputation for both wisdom and power; are you not ashamed of your
eagerness to possess as much wealth, reputation, and honors as possible, while you do not care for nor
give thought to wisdom or truth, or the best possible state of your soul?

When The Worlds Collide
All ancient civilisations have contributed in some way to the development of modern society. with
these words of Dr Joyce Tyldesley I believe the main thought of documentary When the Worlds
Collide written by Carl Byker and Ruben Martinez can be worded.
The film presents the moment of the discovery of America by Spaniards and the following years,
focusing mainly on the cultural aspects that underwent changes in that time. It shows the way various
elements from both civilizations merged and intertwined to work as one new entity. The documentary
also illustrates the clash of the New World and the Old World with the effects on both sides, the most
prominent one being the creation of a new culture the Mestizo culture, which is the mix ... Show more

When the Romans took over Greece, they also took over the Greek culture and, to a small degree,
language in the process of Hellenisation . The Roman religion was created by copying the religion of
the Greeks, with the exception of the names of the gods and goddesses and some other details. Other
than that, the Romans also adopted the Greek architectural and literary style. As of other countries that
were conquered by Rome, the Romans also took the way of building ships and the alphabet in an
altered form from Phoenicia. In all of the countries that the Romans conquered they would build roads
for their armies to move quickly. Roman roads were so tough and well built that many of them have
lasted in good condition even until now; the famous oldest road Via Appia that leads from Rome to
Naples is still in use . Moreover, the Romans built numerous cities, among which are Vienna , London
and Paris . Had Rome not conquered so many countries, the modern world would have looked entirely
different. Rome had an enormous input in shaping of the European culture. Because Rome invaded

The Role Of Social Darwinism In The Call Of The Wild
Jack London s The Call of the Wild is a novel written during the literary era of Naturalism. It is about
a pampered dog, Buck, who was thrown into the Alaskan wilderness and becomes part of a team of
sled dogs. Eventually, he becomes the leader of a wolf pack. Naturalism takes place during a time in
America known as the Gilded Age. During the Gilded Age, the ideas of Social Darwinism take hold.
Social Darwinism is a term scholars use to describe the practice of misapplying the biological
evolutionary language of Charles Darwin to politics, the economy, and society ( Social Darwinism in
the Gilded Age ). But how is London s novel a zeitgeist of Naturalism? Jack London s The Call of the

the leader of a wolf pack.
According to the article American Naturalism: A Webliography and E Anthology, determinism is a
common theme in Naturalism. It is the belief that actions and events are determined by outside forces.
Atavism can arguably be one of these forces, as it is the tendency to revert back to the primitive (

of their beliefs is in laissez faire capitalism, which is a type of economy in which the government does

Success in Horatio Alger s Ragged Dick and the Life of Colin Powell
What does success mean to you? I think the idea of success is affected by the social system. In
America and Hong Kong, which are capitalistic societies affected by the American Dream, success
means money and fame. In other societies, success might have different meanings. Some people said
money and fame is the true meaning of success, but I think that the true meaning of success is to
follow the interest of your own and being good at it, but not money and fame. Overemphasizing on
these two factors can only lead to negative effects. Therefore I think the definition of success in
capitalistic countries should not be focused on money and fame, because it restricts ... Show more

The importance of money and fame in capitalism countries can be seen clearly in two stories that
illustrate the American Dream, Horatio Alger s Ragged Dick and the life of Colin Powell, the
secretary of State. The importance of money can be seen in Ragged Dick, Dick is said to be successful
when he had his wage raised from two dollars to six dollars. In the last sentence of the story A young
gentleman on the way to fame and fortune. It is clear that getting a good job and earning more money
is the goal of success. In the other hand, the life of Colin Powell not only illustrates the importance of
money for success, but also fame. Colin Powell, who is an African American from a poor family in
New York, struggled to become the secretary of State. He represents the American Dream because he
started from the bottom of the society and then become successful, but what is the elements he has for
people to define him as successful? Money and fame. I think without the fame he had for being one of
the most important person in the American government, the general public would not define him as
successful.
What is the problem of this fixed identity of success? I think it is because the identities lead to
overemphasize on money and fame. In the sport industry in America, it has change from promoting
sport to a moneymaking business. Many sport players initially start to play the sport purely for the
enjoyment, they practiced hard and hope that one

Let Me Die
Let Me Die I Want Eternity In May Miller s Poem Death is not Master the persona explains that death
is not the master that will increase desperation, but it is a way to become eternally calm. Many poems
on the topic of death explain how it is as powerful of a thing that fears the existence of human beings,
but Miller s persona death is used in such way to achieve eternal serenity. She explains death as
something that can end all the worlds tears, desires and tension and transform the human memory into
a sculpture which is unaware of tensions. Miller s persona believes that by blocking death it will be
unfair as it will be a barrier to the everlasting happiness and calmness that lies inside the grave. It is an
elaboration of Christian beliefs of how death ends all worldly problems as an eternal life starts after
the death. The eternal life of a human or corpse after death is same as that of sculpture which shines at
night and remains in one place free of all tensions and problems. As the life after death is full of
calmness and happiness, so it must not be blocked and everyone must welcome it to gain the
everlasting lasting life. Thus, conveying Miller s idea of how the perspective death is not the master;
instead, it is the slave of eternal life of serenity and calmness that lies ahead. So, no one should try to
become a barrier by blocking the death. Repetition of you six times and I three times symbolizes the
relationship between I and You who love each other

System Thoughts Regarding The Consumer Protection Act
System Thoughts Concerning the Consumer Protection Act
One can only speculate as to why the data reflects such a dramatic decrease in the number of
consumer loans processed in 2014, but based on the responses captured by the System survey it would
appear that the increased costs to comply with the revised consumer lending regulations and
reluctance by some System institutions may be some of the major factors. However, the mass majority
of institutions indicated although there is an added cost or added regulatory burden they will continue
to process consumer loans subject to TIL in some capacity. The following responses were grouped by
the most common theme: (System Survey, [12])

According to survey responses, of the 78 System institutions, seven have elected discontinue
processing of consumer loans subject to TIL regulations as of July 31, 2014. The three primary
reasons institutions have decided not to offer consumer lending products include: regulatory burden,
cost to train and maintain the program, and finally the lack of demand within the institutions lending
territory that constitutes a high cost to benefit scenario in order to comply with consumer regulations.
The institutions that stated regulatory burden as a major reason not to continue with consumer lending
was the direct result of Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that has affected
TIL requirements. They stated in order to comply, they will have to hire outside personnel or revamp
their current training program dealing with consumer lending. If costs were not considered (will be
discussed later), the lack of expertise and appropriate training for all administrative staff and lending
officers would require a significant time investment and result in production loss in other critical
lending areas (e.g. agricultural products). Thus, some institutions believe the man hour investment
needed by institutions to comply was burdensome and not cost effective with production losses to core
borrowing activities.
The second major reason institutions have ceased or reduced consumer lending deals with the
expenses related to comply with the Act. Through the

Evolution Creationism in Education Essay
Evolution Creationism in Education
The twentieth century has witnessed the escalation of the creation evolution debate through famous
court cases and Supreme Court decisions on the teaching of evolution in public schools, culminating
most recently in a Kansas Board of Education decision. As this highly controversial issue of the
teaching of evolution in American classrooms rages on, it may be difficult for some individuals of
Christian faith to form an alternative belief other than the extremes of creationism and evolutionism.
Before discussing this issue any further, when I refer to strict beliefs in creationism or evolution as
extreme views I am not necessarily implying that they are wrong, but are simply two views on

Many Christians today would answer no to this question. Accepting the theory of evolution as a
possible explanation of how we came into existence does not deny God as our Creator or that He
remains at work today. Instead, it is entirely possible to believe that God used the process of evolution
to create the human species. In addition, evolution should continue to be taught in public schools, even
if this requires the presentation of dissenting views so that students may formulate their own beliefs.
History of the 20th Century Creation Evolution Debate
The creation evolution debate entered the education realm in the early 1920 s when several states
prohibited the teaching of evolution in the classroom. Stephen Jay Gould (1999) reports that this led to
the famous 1925 Scopes monkey trial in Dayton, Tennessee, and the conviction of high school teacher
John Scopes on the grounds of teaching evolution in a public school. An article on the world wide web
entitled The Scopes monkey trial, says the trial pitted prosecuting attorney William Jennings Bryan
against defense attorney Clarence Darrow on the issue of the constitutionality of a Tennessee law, the
Butler Law, which specifically forbade the teaching of evolution in the state. Oklahoma, Florida,
Mississippi, North Carolina, and Kentucky already had similar laws. David L. Marcus (1999) adds,
however, that the Tennessee Supreme Court later overturned the ruling on a technicality.

Analysis Of Breath, A Blow A Kiss And Sand By Tim Winton
Many of Tim Winton s fictional texts mirror moments in his own life, and with an understanding of
Winton s personal context, we can begin to discover the importance of these events and an
understanding into why many of his text orbit around similar ideas. Through the insight given in his
landscape memoirs, Lands Edge and Island Home, a more considered reading of his fictional texts;
Breath, A Blow, A Kiss and Sand can be found. Specifically, these texts explore the role that landscape
and place have had in shaping his perspectives and distaste of the expectations of Australian males.
These texts each explore certain aspects of the expectations that men all over Australia are subjected
to that Winton strongly opposes. Winton grew up in the 1960 s middle class suburb of Karrinyup, WA,
his working class Christian family s beliefs and values, and events in his early life have evolved to
form many of his present day values towards landscape and masculinity.
Through his relationship with the land, Tim Winton was able to come to terms with the expectations of
West Australian Masculinity, and define his own version. Surfing and free driving was first introduced
to Winton in his teenage years after moving to the coastal town of Albany. Before this, surfing had
been a very female dominated sport, in an interview with ABC news Winton describes, how strange it
was to see men doing something so beautiful, something so pointless, so elegant. With little to keep

Explore the change in style of jazz bass since the introduction of electric bass (bass guitar)
Modern 4 string, fretted, horizontally played electric bass was first introduced by Paul Tutmarc in the
1930s. Later in 1950s Leo Fender developed this idea so it could be mass produced and finally
introducing the Fender Precision bass in 1951. Electric bass then started to coexist with the double

could be easily transported, and were able to be amplified to any volume without feeding back

In jazz, electric bass became a viable option in adding modern timbres and textures to the developing

Atlanta, Ga Vacation Spots Essay
Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I have been to many places like Paris, France, and many
other places, but one of my favorite places to go to is to Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta, there are many
places to go and sights to see. For example, Six Flags, Stone mountain Park, and the Atlanta Braves
Stadium, are all in or near the city of Atlanta. These places are family oriented and are easy to get to
by a car, or a bus.
Six Flags is a theme park that has anything from sweet treats to fun rides. Six Flags provides many
things for all ages to do and enjoy. You also can see famous cartoon characters, such as Bugs Bunny,
walking around the park. Teenagers and adults who have strong stomachs might enjoy riding the huge

My favorite activity is the laser show. The laser show takes place on the mountain. Stone Mountain
Park is also a main focal point for the 1996 Olympics.
Lastly, is the exciting Atlanta Braves Stadium, I spent most of my time there when visiting Atlanta.
The stadium is always packed with rowdy Braves fans wearing various forms of Atlanta Braves t
shirts, hats and of course THE foam fingers. The crowds are just as fun to watch as the actual game
itself. They get into the game by hollering and cheering for the Braves to win the game. There are
many concession stands that serve hot dogs, pizza, nachos, and cold drinks. It is fun to see all of the
players dressed in their uniforms, they all looked like they were excited to play. The coaches were
helping some of the players on the field and going over plays. The coaches seemed more anxious to
get the game started. The field itself was so green and the dirt was so clean looking. The Braves games
have been more interesting over the past couple of years.
In conclusion, there are many places to visit in Atlanta. The most exciting ones include Six Flags,
Stone Mountain, and the Atlanta Braves Stadium. Each one offers various forms of fun for all ages.
For instance, Six Flags offer kiddie rides as well as rides for the older children and adults. Stone
Mountain Park offers horseback riding and laser shows. Lastly, the Braves Stadium offers great food

Personal Integrity And Personality
Integrity is defined in dictionary.com as adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral
character; honesty ( Integrity , n.d.), but what does it also mean be to have moral and ethical
principles? The apostle Paul wrote a personal letter to Titus encouraging him in his ministry and
shows him what integrity looks like. The letter that Paul wrote can be applied to both spiritual and
personal integrity. When one has personal growth it affects ones integrity because he or she can go
about their lives more boldly. In Titus chapter 2: 1 12 it states:
1 You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. 2 Teach the older men to be
temperate, worthy of respect, self controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. 3 Likewise,
teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much
wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and
children, 5 to be self controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their
husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. 6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self
controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show

His childhood was not your normal childhood, after all he was born a slave, and labored early in the
day into the night like everyone else on the plantation. There was no frolicking for him, or happy fond
memories of breakfast or dinners around the table, meals were often eaten straight out of the pot much
like a trough for the animals. Schooling for him was not part of his life or any slave, to be able to
attend school would have been a beautiful dream much like how he imagined heaven would be. After
the war the family moved to Malden W. Virginia with their stepfather, whom they hardly knew, their
new home was a step down from shanty cabin they lived on the plantation. Here in Malden is where
his education started, he soon learned to recognize the number 18, that was assigned to his stepfathers
in the salt mine. Likewise his mother by a miracle secured his first book, Webster s blue black speller ,
he also was able to attend night school after his shift in the salt mine. He would imagine what it must
have been like to be white, with no limits, stopping you from becoming whoever or whatever you
want in life. Mr. Washington learned success is not the title or position you hold, it is the difficulties

Five Characteristics Of A Civilization
What is a Civilization; Final Essay Civilization. What exactly is a civilization? Well, I know one thing
that we can agree on; A civilization is made up of five characteristics. Those five characteristics
include Complex Institutions, Advanced Cities, Record Keeping, Advanced Technology, and
Specialized workers. Due to those five characteristics, a civilization is a place of safety for a certain
religious or ethnic group of people. Not only is it usually safe because of those five characteristics, it
is also a secure living area with its own form of government. Why do so many of us believe this? Take
a look around. There are many places and were many places that, for the most part, stuck together
with a singular ethnicity or religion. Within the next few paragraphs, I am going to explicate how
certain civilizations, or how civilizations in general, are impacted in growth and development by
geography, how the human rights are defined in certain civilizations, and what the effects of human
interaction over time both positively and negatively affect a civilization. The geography within an area
impacts both the development and growth of a civilization positively and negatively. For example,
there is the Nile, in Egypt. When the Nile s floodwaters were just a few feet lower than normal, the
amount of fresh silt was greatly reduced. Thousands of people starved. (Africa packet, pg. 36) As the
text states, thousands of people died due to the surrounding geography. This;

Ambiguism In The Demon Lover By Elizabeth Bowen
The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen s is set in London during World War II. Bowen adopts a
common folklore theme of the demon lover in her short story in which a woman is left traumatized
during the blitz in World War II. The story follows a married middle age woman who is haunted by the
ghost of her love from her youth. This ghost was known to be killed in the First World War nearly
twenty five years earlier. Bowens focuses on the atmosphere to create a disturbing ambiguity leading
to many interpretations to what seems like a simple ghost story; the reader wonders if the ghost is a
supernatural body or a disquieting delusion that Mrs. Drover observes. The main message conveyed in
this story is that no bad deed goes unpunished. Mrs. Drover; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Bowen then uses a flashback to link this letter to the dead fiance. Mrs. Drover thinks back to her
former nameless fiance who went off to fight during World War I and was presumably killed, this
vision reinforces the sense of him potentially being the demon lover of the title. She is keenly aware of
her surroundings after reading this letter: the atmosphere such as the striking of the clock, the weather,
and particularly, a sense of strangeness. The letter lying on the table compels her to imagine the
various possibilities for how the letter got there in the first place. She believes the letter written by K
is some sort of threat from a ghost. This letter greatly unnerves her and she rushes upstairs and begins
to pack her things. She then rushes into a taxi only to see the face of the driver as her demon lover, she
begins to scream and pound the glass between them. Perhaps the driver of the taxi Akca, 2 was the
soldier, incarnated as a demon has come to retrieve the damned Mrs. Drover. In addition, it can be
thought of as the ghost of World War I coming back to haunt World War II. The setting is that of the
empty streets of London, the inhabitants had all fled their homes to escape the destruction that came
with war. There is a

The Effects Of The Malthusian Catastrophe Throughout The...
After Adam Smith s Wealth of Nations, his view of classical economics flourished. One of his
successors Thomas Malthus continued with a more pessimist view of society, while still keeping to
Smith s fundamentals. Out of this pessimistic viewpoint comes the Malthusian Doctrine, which states
that as the population rate grows greater than the rate of produce to feed it, and, if unchecked, the
world s population will double every 25 years. At the same time land cannot keep up with the
population growth, because land cannot breed. This will lead to a population growth problem. This
paper will explore the effects of the Malthusian catastrophe throughout the past few centuries.
Reviewing the implications of population growth and the need for implementations to limit population
growth and natural resource depletion, providing questions challenging this point of view, and
interacting with arguments of opposition can provide a well formed argument for the implementations
of new policies regarding this topic.
In 18th century Europe was ripe from the Industrial Revolution. The world was taking on a more
optimistic thinking. However, Thomas Malthus turned against this notion with a pessimist view of
population growth. The reproduction of humans and the depletion of food were evident and are still
evident today. The world is becoming more populous and with it more prosperous; humans as a whole
are consuming more food, water, and natural resources than ever. In Malthus time the same

The Effect Of Income Levels On The Investment Choices...
4.3 Results for Objective #2 Whether RRSP is better for high income earners
Based on our data collected, we have compiled tables and graphs in order to visually represent our
selected data and to test our hypothesis. Since our main objective of this research paper is to determine
the effect of income levels on the investment choices between RRSP and TFSA, the sample from
investors with both and neither plans were excluded when testing the hypothesis in order to isolate the
variables that we wanted to test. Therefore only 79 participants would be considered when examining
whether RRSP is better for high income investors. The investment options of these 79 participants
were shown as Illustration 4.3.1 as below. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After removing those sample we were left with 79 participants who either chose TFSA or RRSP for
their retirement savings. For this test we used a significant level of 5%. With the degree of freedom of
77 and a 5% significance level we arrived at a t value of 1.990 and 1.990. Since our calculated t
critical value of 1.019 does not fall into the rejection region of 1.990 and 1.990 we have concluded
that we do not reject the null hypothesis, shown as Illustration 4.3.6 as below.
Chapter 5 Major Findings and Discussion
The purpose of the survey was to determine whether there is a relationship between investors income
level and their investment options of RRSP and TFSA. Our literature review suggested that investors
with higher income would be more favourable when choosing RRSP rather than TFSA. The null
hypothesis was structured assuming there is no relationship between the income level and the
investment choices between RRSP and TFSA. Based on the t test we conducted using SPSS, we do
not reject the null hypothesis (H0), which suggests that with a significance level of 5% we cannot
conclude that the investors that chose RRSP had a higher income than the investors who chose TFSA.
Therefore, the test result turned out to be different from what we have concluded from the literature
review.

Brian Clark was instigating Patrick Raymond to fight him. About 5 minutes later, Brian told Patrick

Patrick grabbed it, causing him to fall out of his seat. Brian then stood up, walked up to Patrick and

Patrick was on the ground covering his head, he received numerous punches to his face, ear, and also a
kick to his upper chest before another student stepped in to break up the altercation. Patrick suffered
bruises and swelling to his face as a result of the assault. Officer Tennyson was made aware of a video

Skepticism On The Search For The Truth Of Our Knowledge
Skepticism in the Search for the Truth of Our Knowledge
How many times have you said, No way, I do not believe it! It is our natural tendency not to believe in
something that we have not seen with our own eyes or experienced it personally. There is a saying,
seeing is believing which has led us to a world full of skeptics. We want proof so we are not gullible
fools. Skepticism, or scepticism, as it was spelled back in the ancient times, was pondered by
philosophers who tried unsuccessfully to figure out the thought process and how we gain knowledge.
Philosophers gave deep thought to determine how we arrive at such true beliefs and knowledge of the
external world. Three such philosophers were Rene Descartes, David Hume and Christopher Grau.
Rene Descartes was a French philosopher in the early 1600 s; David Hume was a Scottish Philosopher
in the 1700 s, and Grau an American philosopher Professor born in 1970. The timeline s important
because philosophical views have evolved over time. All three men were from different eras, but they
each explored, argued, and addressed the topic of skepticism from their philosophical view. This
proves that they take the subject of skepticism seriously, just as we should too. There is good reason to
believe that a human s knowledge of the external world results from both a posteriori knowledge
acquired through sensory experience and a priori knowledge which is innate. Descartes, Hume, and
Grau through their personal views and skeptical

How Does Sartre View Of Human Consciousness
The terms identified helps to articulate how Sartre views human consciousness. The sense of
forlornness results from the rejection of all transcendental and totalizing ideas. When Sartre argues
that human beings are forlorn, he is stressing the idea that they are without any sort of guidance from
transcendent ends. They are trapped with only their sense of freedom present, which brings about a
natural condition of anguish, in that nothing nor anyone can help to alleviate the pain of isolation and
loneliness, the condition of individual freedom, and more importantly, having to choose. It is this
choice that causes despair for nothing can lighten the burden of the agony of choice. Take, for
example, the student to whom Sartre alludes.

Analysis Of Lee Canter s Video The Power Of Mission
In Lee Canter s video The Power of Mission (1993) he questions the initial motives that teachers had
entering the field. Many teachers entering the field of education have a crystal clear view of what they
want to accomplish. However, as time progresses teachers lose sight of what they wanted to do
(Canter, 1993). They become bogged down by the demands of the job and life and have a hard time
seeing the beauty in what they do. Canter offers a remedy for teachers all teachers, especially those
who ve lost touch with why they chose this profession. The remedy is creating a mission statement
that encompasses your teaching goals and posting it in the classroom as a constant reminder (Canter,
1993). The importance of having a strong mission statement should be expressed to all teachers. In
order to be an effective teacher, one must have a mission statement that not only addresses their
professional goals as a teacher but also their goals for reaching the children they impact daily. Being a
teacher is one of the most difficult professions in the world. We are responsible for the education of all
the future citizens. As teachers, content will always be a major component of what we do but it should
not be what drives us. Kottler, Zehm, and Kottler (2005), authors of On Being a Teacher: The Human
Dimension , believe that the goal of education is not to teach subject matter but to promote the
development of productive and positive human beings. In order to accomplish that,

  • 2. Bridget Bradbury Biography Bridget Stutchbury is a biologist and ornithologist, who was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1962, but was brought up in Toronto, Canada. She received her M.Sc. from Queen s University and her Ph.D. from Yale. She was also a postdoctoral fellow, a person doing research after receiving their doctorate degree, and a research associate at the Smithsonian Institution. Bridget became interested in songbirds in the 1980s. She studies the migrations of the tiniest birds and the threats posed upon them. (Cameron, 2013) Stutchbury had many questions such as: why do certain birds mate five or ten times an hour, how are mates chosen and how do they care for their offspring, and many more. She followed these songbirds to Latin America, their wintering grounds, and North America, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The probability of nest survival didn t change treatments, but density was usually higher in logged sites than reference sites. In recently logged sites, brown headed cowbird parasitism was higher and reference sites produced more Hooded Warbler young per successful nest than standard selection harvest sites. Fledgling survival wasn t negatively impacted by logging treatment. Overall, more than 50% of fledglings survived up to three weeks after sites had the highest Hooded Warbler density, they also had the lowest seasonal productivity, which raises the possibility of an ecological trap. The number of daughters produced top female per year that are expected to survive to their breeding age was lower in all treatments than the expected annual mortality of adult females. But Missionaries of Charity, the order established by Mother in 1950, still continues to feel her divine presence around. The moment one enters the premises of Mother s House on AJC Bose Road in central Kolkata, one is overwhelmed by a feeling of warmth, peace and serenity like one has never experienced before. Two days before her tenth death anniversary, the spirit of Mother Teresa rests in peace in a white marble tomb, built in the middle of Mother s House, and is surrounded by devotees, who sit with their heads bowed, paying a silent tribute to the lady who gave up everything to serve the poorest of the poor . Service to the poorest of the poor still continues to be the fundamental article of faith in Missionaries of Charity. Jesus is the bread of life is written in flowers over Mother s tomb, and a soft fragrance of incense wafts through the air to create an aura of unmatched divinity. • 4. Theme Of Self-Determination In Through The Tunnel Throughout the story Through the Tunnel, the most important theme that recurs is self determination. The boy in the story, Jerry, has demonstrated this self determination by pushing himself through tough situations. One of these situations was when Jerry saw the French boys playing in the ocean. In the text, it said, To be with them, of them, was a craving that filled his whole body. (244) This quote proves his determination because later on in the story, he then swam toward them. Eventually, they started playing, and the boys yelled cheerful greetings at him. That s when Jerry knew that he was welcomed in. Without his determination in this scene, Jerry wouldn t have been able to play with the boys. Jerry demonstrates self determination in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Global Epistemological Skepticism Essay Epistemological skepticism is the idea that individuals lack knowledge or justification for a specific group of propositions (Barnett, 2014). Skepticism with respect to all propositions is known as global skepticism, and it reveals that knowledge is nonexistent (2014). The regress problem is a difficulty in epistemology, where an idea has to be justified, because the justification itself has to have further reasoning (2014). The infinite regress argument concludes that individuals lack justification and knowledge (since knowledge requires justification) through its premises, but non doxastic evidence ends the regress argument without circularity or arbitrariness. The infinite regress argument dates back to Sectus Empiricus, 3rd century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, B cannot be a reason for B itself, and second, a reason for B cannot alternate between B and that reason. In other words, circular reasoning is expelled from being proper justification, and foundational reasons are not sufficient due to the absence of a further reason. If both conditions are true, then the chain of reasons for any belief is potentially infinite or unlimited. The problem with infinitism is that an infinite number of beliefs, whether potential or not, do not exist. Humans have finite minds and finite lives, and eventually after being questioned numerous times there will be no more reasons that could be possibly formed to justify a belief. For example, when a child continues to ask his or her parent Why? , after a series of reasons the parent will not be able to devise an answer to the question. Therefore, infinitism is not a strong response to skepticism. Coherentism is the view that individuals have justified beliefs, which result from a finite system of beliefs that promote each other non circularly without the requirement for justification outside of the system (2014). For coherentism, justification is a procedure in which all of the beliefs are seen wholly as a system rather than individual parts. For example, V , V , and V are beliefs. The beliefs V , V , and V work together to achieve epistemic justification without the need for any further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Plato s Apology Tristan Carty Professor Anderson From Animal Farm to the Republic 3 March 2015 Human Wisdom There are many different concepts and thoughts that can be taken from Plato s The Apology. It is my personal opinion that Socrates views on wisdom, or more specifically, human wisdom, are among the most paramount of points that should be taken and understood by the reader. Throughout his defense, Socrates uses the concept of human wisdom (or the lack thereof) as an argument for his acquittal. According to Socrates human wisdom has little value, and the only reason he is wiser than most men is because he knows that he lacks human wisdom. Throughout the apology it would seem that wisdom is not merely a single entity, rather, there are multiple types ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socrates begins by discussing why his previous accusers accused him of what he did. I will try to show you what has caused this reputation and slander...is none other than a certain kind of wisdom (20d, 23a). His next point on human wisdom, is that it is not very valuable; That one of you, O human beings, is wisest who, like Socrates, has become cognizant that in truth he is worth nothing with respect to wisdom (23b). Socrates still believes however, that thinking about and examining wisdom is extremely important to live a fulfilling life. This first type of wisdom seems to be a concept of using wisdom as way to care for the soul. I men of Athens, salute you and love you, but I will obey the god rather than you, and as long as I draw breath and am able, I shall not cease to practice philosophy, to exhort you and in my usual way to point out to any one of you whom I happen to meet: Good Sir, you are an Athenian, a citizen of the greatest city with the greatest reputation for both wisdom and power; are you not ashamed of your eagerness to possess as much wealth, reputation, and honors as possible, while you do not care for nor give thought to wisdom or truth, or the best possible state of your soul? ... When The Worlds Collide All ancient civilisations have contributed in some way to the development of modern society. with these words of Dr Joyce Tyldesley I believe the main thought of documentary When the Worlds Collide written by Carl Byker and Ruben Martinez can be worded. The film presents the moment of the discovery of America by Spaniards and the following years, focusing mainly on the cultural aspects that underwent changes in that time. It shows the way various elements from both civilizations merged and intertwined to work as one new entity. The documentary also illustrates the clash of the New World and the Old World with the effects on both sides, the most prominent one being the creation of a new culture the Mestizo culture, which is the mix ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the Romans took over Greece, they also took over the Greek culture and, to a small degree, language in the process of Hellenisation . The Roman religion was created by copying the religion of the Greeks, with the exception of the names of the gods and goddesses and some other details. Other than that, the Romans also adopted the Greek architectural and literary style. As of other countries that were conquered by Rome, the Romans also took the way of building ships and the alphabet in an altered form from Phoenicia. In all of the countries that the Romans conquered they would build roads for their armies to move quickly. Roman roads were so tough and well built that many of them have lasted in good condition even until now; the famous oldest road Via Appia that leads from Rome to Naples is still in use . Moreover, the Romans built numerous cities, among which are Vienna , London and Paris . Had Rome not conquered so many countries, the modern world would have looked entirely different. It is about a pampered dog, Buck, who was thrown into the Alaskan wilderness and becomes part of a team of sled dogs. Eventually, he becomes the leader of a wolf pack. Naturalism takes place during a time in America known as the Gilded Age. During the Gilded Age, the ideas of Social Darwinism take hold. Social Darwinism is a term scholars use to describe the practice of misapplying the biological evolutionary language of Charles Darwin to politics, the economy, and society ( Social Darwinism in the Gilded Age ). When Buck returns, he finds out that Yeehat Indians have killed everyone at the campsite. As a result of Buck s sheer rage at finding Thornton dead, he kills some of the Yeehats and then becomes the leader of a wolf pack. According to the article American Naturalism: A Webliography and E Anthology, determinism is a common theme in Naturalism. It is the belief that actions and events are determined by outside forces. Atavism can arguably be one of these forces, as it is the tendency to revert back to the primitive ( Atavism ). Another theme in Naturalism is Darwinism, which stems into Social Darwinist beliefs. I think the idea of success is affected by the social system. In America and Hong Kong, which are capitalistic societies affected by the American Dream, success means money and fame. In other societies, success might have different meanings. Some people said money and fame is the true meaning of success, but I think that the true meaning of success is to follow the interest of your own and being good at it, but not money and fame. Overemphasizing on these two factors can only lead to negative effects. Therefore I think the definition of success in capitalistic countries should not be focused on money and fame, because it restricts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance of money and fame in capitalism countries can be seen clearly in two stories that illustrate the American Dream, Horatio Alger s Ragged Dick and the life of Colin Powell, the secretary of State. The importance of money can be seen in Ragged Dick, Dick is said to be successful when he had his wage raised from two dollars to six dollars. In the last sentence of the story A young gentleman on the way to fame and fortune. It is clear that getting a good job and earning more money is the goal of success. In the other hand, the life of Colin Powell not only illustrates the importance of money for success, but also fame. Colin Powell, who is an African American from a poor family in New York, struggled to become the secretary of State. He represents the American Dream because he started from the bottom of the society and then become successful, but what is the elements he has for people to define him as successful? Money and fame. I think without the fame he had for being one of the most important person in the American government, the general public would not define him as successful. What is the problem of this fixed identity of success? I think it is because the identities lead to overemphasize on money and fame. In the sport industry in America, it has change from promoting sport to a moneymaking business. Let Me Die Let Me Die I Want Eternity In May Miller s Poem Death is not Master the persona explains that death is not the master that will increase desperation, but it is a way to become eternally calm. Many poems on the topic of death explain how it is as powerful of a thing that fears the existence of human beings, but Miller s persona death is used in such way to achieve eternal serenity. She explains death as something that can end all the worlds tears, desires and tension and transform the human memory into a sculpture which is unaware of tensions. Miller s persona believes that by blocking death it will be unfair as it will be a barrier to the everlasting happiness and calmness that lies inside the grave. It is an elaboration of Christian beliefs of how death ends all worldly problems as an eternal life starts after the death. The eternal life of a human or corpse after death is same as that of sculpture which shines at night and remains in one place free of all tensions and problems. As the life after death is full of calmness and happiness, so it must not be blocked and everyone must welcome it to gain the everlasting lasting life. Thus, conveying Miller s idea of how the perspective death is not the master; instead, it is the slave of eternal life of serenity and calmness that lies ahead. System Thoughts Regarding The Consumer Protection Act System Thoughts Concerning the Consumer Protection Act One can only speculate as to why the data reflects such a dramatic decrease in the number of consumer loans processed in 2014, but based on the responses captured by the System survey it would appear that the increased costs to comply with the revised consumer lending regulations and reluctance by some System institutions may be some of the major factors. However, the mass majority of institutions indicated although there is an added cost or added regulatory burden they will continue to process consumer loans subject to TIL in some capacity. The following responses were grouped by the most common theme: (System Survey, [12]) 1. Noted no change, and will continue processing consumer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to survey responses, of the 78 System institutions, seven have elected discontinue processing of consumer loans subject to TIL regulations as of July 31, 2014. The three primary reasons institutions have decided not to offer consumer lending products include: regulatory burden, cost to train and maintain the program, and finally the lack of demand within the institutions lending territory that constitutes a high cost to benefit scenario in order to comply with consumer regulations. The institutions that stated regulatory burden as a major reason not to continue with consumer lending was the direct result of Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that has affected TIL requirements. They stated in order to comply, they will have to hire outside personnel or revamp their current training program dealing with consumer lending. If costs were not considered (will be discussed later), the lack of expertise and appropriate training for all administrative staff and lending officers would require a significant time investment and result in production loss in other critical lending areas (e.g. agricultural products). Thus, some institutions believe the man hour investment needed by institutions to comply was burdensome and not cost effective with production losses to core borrowing activities. The second major reason institutions have ceased or reduced consumer lending deals with the expenses related to comply with the Act. Through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Evolution Creationism in Education Essay Evolution Creationism in Education The twentieth century has witnessed the escalation of the creation evolution debate through famous court cases and Supreme Court decisions on the teaching of evolution in public schools, culminating most recently in a Kansas Board of Education decision. As this highly controversial issue of the teaching of evolution in American classrooms rages on, it may be difficult for some individuals of Christian faith to form an alternative belief other than the extremes of creationism and evolutionism. Before discussing this issue any further, when I refer to strict beliefs in creationism or evolution as extreme views I am not necessarily implying that they are wrong, but are simply two views on completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many Christians today would answer no to this question. Accepting the theory of evolution as a possible explanation of how we came into existence does not deny God as our Creator or that He remains at work today. Instead, it is entirely possible to believe that God used the process of evolution to create the human species. In addition, evolution should continue to be taught in public schools, even if this requires the presentation of dissenting views so that students may formulate their own beliefs. History of the 20th Century Creation Evolution Debate The creation evolution debate entered the education realm in the early 1920 s when several states prohibited the teaching of evolution in the classroom. Stephen Jay Gould (1999) reports that this led to the famous 1925 Scopes monkey trial in Dayton, Tennessee, and the conviction of high school teacher John Scopes on the grounds of teaching evolution in a public school. An article on the world wide web entitled The Scopes monkey trial, says the trial pitted prosecuting attorney William Jennings Bryan against defense attorney Clarence Darrow on the issue of the constitutionality of a Tennessee law, the Butler Law, which specifically forbade the teaching of evolution in the state. Oklahoma, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Kentucky already had similar laws. David L. Marcus (1999) adds, however, that the Tennessee Supreme Court later overturned the ruling on a technicality. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the insight given in his landscape memoirs, Lands Edge and Island Home, a more considered reading of his fictional texts; Breath, A Blow, A Kiss and Sand can be found. Specifically, these texts explore the role that landscape and place have had in shaping his perspectives and distaste of the expectations of Australian males. Winton grew up in the 1960 s middle class suburb of Karrinyup, WA, his working class Christian family s beliefs and values, and events in his early life have evolved to form many of his present day values towards landscape and masculinity. Through his relationship with the land, Tim Winton was able to come to terms with the expectations of West Australian Masculinity, and define his own version. Surfing and free driving was first introduced to Winton in his teenage years after moving to the coastal town of Albany. The apostle Paul wrote a personal letter to Titus encouraging him in his ministry and shows him what integrity looks like. The letter that Paul wrote can be applied to both spiritual and personal integrity. When one has personal growth it affects ones integrity because he or she can go about their lives more boldly. In Titus chapter 2: 1 12 it states: 1 You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. 2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. 3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. 6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. One of his successors Thomas Malthus continued with a more pessimist view of society, while still keeping to Smith s fundamentals. Out of this pessimistic viewpoint comes the Malthusian Doctrine, which states that as the population rate grows greater than the rate of produce to feed it, and, if unchecked, the world s population will double every 25 years. At the same time land cannot keep up with the population growth, because land cannot breed. This will lead to a population growth problem. This paper will explore the effects of the Malthusian catastrophe throughout the past few centuries. Reviewing the implications of population growth and the need for implementations to limit population growth and natural resource depletion, providing questions challenging this point of view, and interacting with arguments of opposition can provide a well formed argument for the implementations of new policies regarding this topic. In 18th century Europe was ripe from the Industrial Revolution. The world was taking on a more optimistic thinking. However, Thomas Malthus turned against this notion with a pessimist view of population growth. The reproduction of humans and the depletion of food were evident and are still evident today. Skepticism, or scepticism, as it was spelled back in the ancient times, was pondered by philosophers who tried unsuccessfully to figure out the thought process and how we gain knowledge. Philosophers gave deep thought to determine how we arrive at such true beliefs and knowledge of the external world. Three such philosophers were Rene Descartes, David Hume and Christopher Grau. Rene Descartes was a French philosopher in the early 1600 s; David Hume was a Scottish Philosopher in the 1700 s, and Grau an American philosopher Professor born in 1970. The timeline s important because philosophical views have evolved over time. All three men were from different eras, but they each explored, argued, and addressed the topic of skepticism from their philosophical view. This proves that they take the subject of skepticism seriously, just as we should too. There is good reason to believe that a human s knowledge of the external world results from both a posteriori knowledge acquired through sensory experience and a priori knowledge which is innate. Descartes, Hume, and Grau through their personal views and skeptical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. How Does Sartre View Of Human Consciousness The terms identified helps to articulate how Sartre views human consciousness. The sense of forlornness results from the rejection of all transcendental and totalizing ideas. When Sartre argues that human beings are forlorn, he is stressing the idea that they are without any sort of guidance from transcendent ends. They are trapped with only their sense of freedom present, which brings about a natural condition of anguish, in that nothing nor anyone can help to alleviate the pain of isolation and loneliness, the condition of individual freedom, and more importantly, having to choose. It is this choice that causes despair for nothing can lighten the burden of the agony of choice. Take, for example, the student to whom Sartre alludes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many teachers entering the field of education have a crystal clear view of what they want to accomplish. However, as time progresses teachers lose sight of what they wanted to do (Canter, 1993). They become bogged down by the demands of the job and life and have a hard time seeing the beauty in what they do. Canter offers a remedy for teachers all teachers, especially those who ve lost touch with why they chose this profession. The remedy is creating a mission statement that encompasses your teaching goals and posting it in the classroom as a constant reminder (Canter, 1993). The importance of having a strong mission statement should be expressed to all teachers. In order to be an effective teacher, one must have a mission statement that not only addresses their professional goals as a teacher but also their goals for reaching the children they impact daily. Being a teacher is one of the most difficult professions in the world. We are responsible for the education of all the future citizens. As teachers, content will always be a major component of what we do but it should not be what drives us. Kottler, Zehm, and Kottler (2005), authors of On Being a Teacher: The Human Dimension , believe that the goal of education is not to teach subject matter but to promote the development of productive and positive human beings.
