Joseph Henry, a Master's of Public Health graduate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, started the "Hunger 500" venture to raise awareness and funds to fight hunger. He was inspired by stories of ordinary people making impacts and aimed to run 500 miles in 17 consecutive marathons to raise $100,000 for the UN World Food Programme to feed the 925 million people who go to bed hungry each night.
