Sokoshin (also known as Sokushin-butsu, meaning "becoming Buddha") is a unique name for an agoraphobic artist. Sokoshin is a French painter and musician of Italian origin, born in Nice in 1967. He received his training at the Municipal School of Fine Arts Villa Thiole in Nice and began working in 1987 as a computer-assisted designer, graphic artist, and illustrator. Due to his agoraphobia, which he had been suffering from for several years, he was unable to leave his home. To overcome what he calls his "illness," he has been able to use the difficulties he has encountered to enrich his inner life and as a driving force for his creative work.
