Introduction
The basic skills are considered to be technical aspects in all sports activities which without there is no
distinctive character of the type of sports activity practiced, which is one of the fundamental aspects in
the implementation of the schematic side, and football is characterized by many basic skills and
diversity. The level of performance in football has increased in line with the development of methods of
play and diversity of plans Defensive and offensive, which requires the distinction of a football player
with the ability to perform high precision. The basic skills in football is the first reason for the distinction
of football with all the popularity in most parts of the world and it is the essence of achievement in the
game S without the player's performance of those skills mastered, it will be unable to proper
implementation of the tactical and so we'll mention of these basic skills
In this book I will concentrate all drills into four skills :
legend Zinedine Zidane, and Cristiano Ronaldo can be among those who combine the skill of the shot
Strongly and accurately from a distance.
Apart from the power of the shot from a distance, accuracy is also required, so any rising player must
realize the importance of balancing the workers to get out the shot and not just an attempt on the goal.
Some young players always tend to pay in a difficult situation, which makes the shot come out badly in
terms of execution and sealing, but the player must realize in the development of his skill that the best
and most appropriate position in the long-distance is that the vision is clear in the direction of the goal,
Be distracted by the players around him so as not to miss the ball into the goal.
Another important thing in developing the skill of the ball is to control the ball. This is related to the ball
bearings more than the fixed, since the payment from the position of the movement of either the player
or the ball, such as to meet the ball cross with a long-range ball must be ready to receive the ball and
the optimal payment and not lose control On the ball and get out the shot as a forced or without a goal
or goal.
Be Direct, Go for Goal View Printable Version
Emphasis: Dribbling for penetration, developing an attacking mentality – small sided game
Set-up: 50 x 40 yard grid.
A 6 v 6 is organized inside the grid.
Flags are used to create a goal at each end of the grid.
Goalkeeper in each goal.
Cones are placed to create a 15- yard deep end zone at opposite ends of the grid.
A supply of balls is placed around the perimeter of the grid
Objective:
Players compete for possession of the ball. Players attempt to score in their opponents goal.
No restrictions are placed on the players while in their defensive zone or in the central playing area.
Players entering the opposition end zone are NOT allowed to pass the ball – they must go for goal.
This encourages players to make smart decisions with regard to making attacking runs into their
opponents end zone.
Players are encouraged to seek out 1v1 situations. Players are encouraged to be direct, take chances
and be positive in attacking areas of the field. In the above diagram player (B) has received a pass from
(A). Player (B) beats defender (C), accelerates into the end zone, beats defender (D) and shoots on goal.
Progression:
1. Must get a shot off within 3 seconds of entering the end zone.
Coaching Points:
Encourage players to take chances in 1v1 situations.
Pass the ball around until 1v1 situations arise.
Be direct – Go for goal when the opportunity arises.
Change of pace – burst into the opponents end zone.
Penetrate at earliest opportunity.
Team Relay
Emphasis: Running with the ball at speed.
Set-up: 20 x 20 yard grid.
Players are split into 3 groups and positioned at each cone as shown.
Cones are placed 15 yards from each group.
One ball per group.
Objective:
On the coach’s signal, the first player in line must dribble towards the cone placed 15 yards away.
Upon reaching the cone the player must turn and accelerate back to his original group.
The ball is then passed from approximately 2 yards away to the next player in line.
The next player in line repeats the sequence. Play is continuous for a designated period of time.
Progression:
1. Players must dribble around cone.
2. Vary the turns at the cones – Cruyff turn, step-over etc.
3. After the turn, players must chip the ball for the next player in line to control before repeating the
sequence.
4. Introduce a race format – first group to have each player complete 2 rotations wins.
Coaching Points:
Accelerate with the ball on the first touch.
Build up the speed as comfort level increases.
Change pace out of the turn.
PPassing And Receiving Book
Combination Play
Emphasis: Passing, receiving
Set-up: Make a 20x20 yard grid, and place two pairs of players in the middle of the grid.
Place a “neutral” player on each side line.
Place extra balls around the perimeter of the grid.
Objective:
The two players with the ball in the middle try and keep possession of the ball for as long as possible.
The players inside the grid are allowed to use the neutral players for support, but they only have 1
touch.
Connecting 10 passing in a row is considered a point. After 10 passes or a certain time limit, switch the
roles of the players.
Progression:
1. Players in the middle of a two touch maximum.
2. Increase the grid size to 30x30 and make it a 3 V 3 in the middle.
Coaching Points:
· Create supporting angles.
· Play the way you face and away from pressure.
· First defender must pressure the ball and make it predictable for the other defender.
Pass and Move
Emphasis: Laying balls off, passing, changes of speed
Set-up: Cones are used to create 4 12 x 12 yard grids as shown.
4 players per grid with 3 balls.
3 players are positioned in corners of each grid with a ball each, 1 player will be selected to work first.
Objective:
Player in the middle of the grid (A) will work for approximately 30-45 seconds. This player must check
to one of the corner players, receive a pass and lay the ball off to the original player. On receiving the
ball back from the middle player, the corner player must accelerate quickly to find the vacant cone in
the grid.
Player (A) continues to receive and lay off balls for the designated time or for a predetermined number
of reps.
Progressions:
Corner players serve balls in the air with their hands so that (A) must deal with balls in the air.
Coaching Points:
· Corner players must accelerate to vacant cone with their first touch.
· Middle player (A) must change direction and speeds while working as if trying to lose a marker.
· Communicate with teammates.
