Saint Bridget of Sweden (1303-1373) was a noblewoman known for her religious visions and charity work, especially towards unwed mothers. After her husband's death, she founded the Bridgettine order and became instrumental in the establishment of a religious community in Fågelbro, recognized by Pope Urban V. Bridget was canonized in 1391, and her legacy continues as a patroness of Europe, with her visions being affirmed by several councils throughout church history.
