Leibniz Rationalism
Rationalism is the principle that maintains that through reason alone we can gain at least some
positive knowledge of the world. The three major rationalists, Rene Descartes, Baruch Spinoza and
Gottfried Welhelm Leibniz, used this idea in order to defy skepticism and expose the true nature of
reality. However, each philosopher is frequently in disagreement. The idea for God , and what
constitutes substance, matter and reality are the four key structural beliefs that aid each rationalist
in the forming of their arguments. Yet, it is these four concepts and the arguments behind them that
cause the inconsistency found in rationalism. The idea that reason can provide positive solutions to
the various questions put forth is made doubtful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, relatedly, the monad must not only exhibit properties, but contain within itself virtually or
potentially all the properties it will exhibit in the future, and also contain the trace of all the
properties it did exhibit in the past. In Leibniz s extraordinary phrase, found frequently in his later
work, the monad is pregnant with the future and laden with the past (Monadology, p22). All these
properties are folded up within the monad, and they unfold when and as they have sufficient
reason to do so. (Monadology p61) The network of explanation is indivisible to divide it would
either leave some predicates without a sufficient reason, or merely separate two substances that
never belonged together in the first place. Correspondingly, the monad is one, simple and
indivisible.
Everything we perceive around us, which is a unified being, must be a single monad. Everything
else is a composite of many monads. My coffee cup, for example, is made of many monads (an
infinite number, actually). In everyday life, we tend to call it a single thing only because the
monads all act together. My soul, however, and the soul of every other living thing, is a single
monad which controls a composite body. Leibniz thus says that at least for living things we must
posit substantial forms, as the principle of the unity of certain living composites. My

Why The Nurse Interacts With A Family Managing A Chronic...
There are many factors to consider when the nurse interacts with a family managing a chronic
illness. The nurse must consider the structure of the family and how they interact while also
identifying how the family and individual with the chronic condition, manage their condition. They
must identify any risk factors that may impede their ability to manage their chroniccondition or
protective factors that improve their abilities to self manage. An analysis of the developmental
stage the family or individual along with the stage of illness they are experiencing is necessary to
successfully build relationships and help guide the family through chronic illness management.
Commendation of the family s efforts and abilities to manage difficult situations revolving around
illness may enhance the family s confidence and improve self management (Wright and Leahey,
2013). These components will be explored and discussed regarding the family structure of two
sisters, R.C. and J.A. R.C. has Marfan syndromeand J.A. is an active participant in helping her sister
manage her condition. This family structure will be discussed in relationship to their family
management style, their individual and family risk factors, and their management of R.C. s chronic
condition. Contextual components will include the lifestyle stage as defined by Wright and Leahey
(2013), and the phase of chronic illness and its developmental challenges as outline by Rolland
(2005). This information was collected during

Charles Darwin s Radical New Book On The Origin Of Species
The coalescence of the publication of Charles Darwin s radical new book On The Origin of
Species by Means of Natural Selection (1859) and the American Civil War (1861 1865) brought
about a dramatic end to transcendentalism and the American Romanticism period that dominated
the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. American intellectuals began to apply the knowledge gained
from Origin of Species to more fields than just biology. This dynamic understanding (evolution) of
life ushered in a period of Naturalism. Naturalist literature was based on the following four basic
assumptions : The origin of man is brute matter caught in a struggle for survival; Individual
strengths and weaknesses are the results of heredity and chance; Everything is... Show more content

Norris offers a very pessimistic view of humans and society and that that humans are naturally evil
to the reader early on. The fact that Norris described his main character in such a painfully honest
tone at the onset of his story not only removes the veil of goodness, but reveals a man struggling to
survive, instead of thriving, in his environment.
A running theme in this story, congruent with the first naturalistic assumption of the struggle for
survival, is the desire for wealth and the eventual greed spawned from this consuming desire. Mac
s girlfriend at the time, and later his wife, Trina, won $5000 in a lottery, but was very frugal with
her winnings. Mac, who was never accustomed to wealth or high society, found this very
frustrating and after the loss of his business, every hour the question of money came up (Norris,
127). He was unrelenting in his search for money. To McTeague
, wealth equaled power and
success. Norris exemplifies the dangers of greed and how it can get the best of you when
McTeague s anger and frustration at Trina with his financial situation boils over, Miser, nasty
little old miser. You re worse than old Zerkow, always nagging about money, money, and you got
five thousand dollars. You got more, an you live in that stinking hole of a room, and you won t
drink any decent beer (Norris, 135).

Buddhism And Its Views On Buddhism
Buddhism is one of the major religions of the world; it was founded in India and is based on the
teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, Buddha, or the Enlightened One/Awakened One. Buddhism is
non theistic and is not based on any concept of a supreme or one ruling God. A Buddhist approach
is a naturalistic one and the sole purpose of the followers is to end or reduce suffering (dukkha)
and attain a state of liberation or enlightenment and the freedom from the cycle of death and rebirth
(Nirvana). Buddhist are their own Buddha and the answers of the world will not end their suffering
but within themselves they are capable of reaching nirvana. Buddhismhas two major points of view
that differ in their telling of Buddha and claim to be the correct story.1 Theravadin is considered
the more conservative view and Mahayanais considered the more creative view, these two views
tell the story of Buddha and the followers believe their version is the correct version. These
differing views make up the religion of Buddhism and the followers carry out the word of their
branch. The view of Theravadin Buddhism is the more conservative view and it follows more
firmly the original teachings of Buddha it is often referred to as the path of the elders . 1
Theravadin Buddhists believe Buddha is an inspirer and supreme teacher not a God but the very
highest human. Buddha believed that the human experience included great suffering, nothing is
permanent and nothing in this world should be desired.

Reflection On Marketing Simulation
For the past couple of weeks, I engaged in a marketing simulation. This Simulation was
extremely fun while challenging as it taught me the right way to advertise and market a new
brand, specifically a computer, that you are putting out to the world. The targeted markets were
Chicago, Sao Paulo, Paris, and Shanghai. There were three different segments that were related
to PC s and laptops. Those three were Mercedes, Workhorse, and Traveler. Below, I am going to
mention what specific decisions I made in each of the six quarters as well as why I made each
decision. Quarter 1 2 Since quarter one was the first quarter of this simulation, I was unaware of
how difficult it was going to be to make all the different decisions. Firstly, I had to choose a
Company name. Because I was selling computers, I thought that the name Dev Tech was a
perfect fit being that this simulation was about development and technology. Next, I had to
choose a target segment. I knew going into this simulation that it would be better to invest in the
more expensive goods as it would benefit me in the end. The segment that didn t care about
price was Mercedes, so that is the segment that I made my first priority. Next, I had to choose
what responsibility I wanted to have with the company. I chose to be president because the
president has advantage of having overall leadership. Finally, I had to open a sales office. I decided
to go with Chicago because there was a high amount of people who were willing

Myths And Misconceptions Of Serial Killers
The term serial killers has never really been defined until roughly 1998 when congress passes a
Children Protection act from Sexual Predator Act of 1998. This Act defined serial killers as a
series of at least three or more killings. However because of the definition of serial killers, they
often get confused between serial killers and a spree murder. The Difference is that spree
murderers often get killed or seriously killed, however spree murderers have also killed
themselves. Although serial killers are extremely rare event that is estimated to constitute for less
than 1% of all murders committed. Serial killers mostly kill over a time period killing more than
three victims, however many serial killers often get arrest or never get caught.
Throughout the years there has been several Myths and Misconceptions have been made against
serial killers. Most serial killers are thought to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every serial killer has there own comfort zone to conduct their killings. These comfort zones are
often defined by an anchor point such as home, employment, or even residence of relative.
However there have been times where serial killers have expanded their activities outside their
comfort zone because there confidence has grown through experience or even to avoid detection.
For serial killers who do travel interstate to kill, there are a few different categories including
itinerant individuals, which are those who move from place to place. Another category is known as
homeless individuals who are transients, and individuals whose employment lends itself to
interstate or transnational travel such as long distance truck drivers or those in military service.

Essay on Language Development in Childhood Development
Everyday we are developing no matter our age, but it is how we develop children that will tell a
tremendous amount an individual. How a child developments is fundamentally important at a
young age as it affects all aspect of their lives once the child matures. Throughout the class, we
looked at many theorists during the course of the semester as well as looked at many articles
pertaining to the concepts of the development of children. The theorists and articles opened up our
minds to a world that we have never seen before and concepts about child development we have
never been taught but have seen in the practical work we do every week. What makes humans
unique is the ability that we have to interpret the language being used, as Lois Bloom... Show more

Numerous studies have been done in this area as there are many children living in poverty in
North America and all across the world. There are roughly over one billion children living in
poverty around the world (United Nations Children s Fund, 2010). The Food and Agriculture
Organization of the United describes poverty as Lack of knowledge and good skills in herding
was widely given as a main cause of poverty. Living in poverty can seriously affect a child s life
as the child would not be able to go to school or would do poorly because there was nothing to eat
at home so they would not be able concentrate. The child when old enough would have to work all
day to make money for the family and many other harsh realities throughout their lifetime.
Throughout the course of this paper I will be explain how poverty effects language development of
a child because of the reasons of parental education and having a low socioeconomic status. In this
paper, I do talk a lot about school statistics a number of times but that is because I believe if one
does not have their language skills fully developed the results will show in their work ethic and
grades in school. It is important to understand that poverty does not have a direct consequence to
language development but it is things associated with poverty such as parental education, health
care, child care, low socioeconomic status and many other variables that play an influence in

Construction Safety Tips
This is why I feel there needs to be major changes in the way we educate the current and future
construction workers so that they can truly understand and make sure to make construction
safety one of there main focuses. One way of transforming the way construction safety is tough
to others is by creating an updated and effect online platform construction safety platform which
will educate employees in a very effective way. this online platform will not only go into detail in
regards to previous and new construction safety procedures, but it will also make sure that each
person who goes through the program comes out understanding all of the important construction
safety tips. The first unique feature that the program will include is mandatory pop quizzes.
These pop quizzes will come up throughout each safety chapter of the online program and will
test each individual with specific questions based of off each of the specific chapters they are
focusing on. Each chapter will have 20 pop quiz questions that will be asked throughout the
chapter. These questions will later be tallied up for a grade. It is mandatory that you score a b or
higher on each of the chapters total pop quiz questions. If you do not do this, then you will be
forced to have to go through the chapter again and be asked new questions. This process may
seem difficult, but it will truly educate each and every employee who follows the online program

Rider And The Rider Book Review
Dan Heath and Chip Heath in this book are addressing what should be done to make the needed
switch to accept the desired or needed change. The authors used a nice metaphor illustrating the
brain as the Rider and the emotions as the Elephant, while the Rider and the Elephant are in
consistent conflict to pick or acceptthe right direction for the change journey to make it to the final
destination. The battel between the two is mainly whether we can make the journey or it s not
worth the efforts and stay where you are just live with the status quobecause your team, the
community is unable to try the new journey. The authors are providing some guidance to mitigate
this vital conflict, to balance and compromise the needs and the fears of the Riders... Show more

In highly successful change efforts, people find ways to help others see the problems or solutions in
ways that influence emotions, not just thought (105). Most people think change happens in this
order: ANALYZE THINK CHANGE (106), which is normal when parameters are known,
assumptions are minimal, and the future is not fuzzy (106). But during the change situation with
the uncertain environment where the parameters is not well known and the future is fuzzy , in this
case, the change pattern is not ANALYZEВTHINK CHANGE, but rather SEE FEEL CHANG
(106). A second good way to motivate the Elephant is to Shrink the Change . It means breaking
the ultimate goal into small achievable objectives and building momentum to keep the Elephant
going towards the final destination. To get the Elephant off its duff, you need to reassure it that
the task won t be so bad. (131), so motivate actions that could generate small achievements and it
will spiral hope that change was possible. Furthermore, you need to Grow your People to accept a
new identity during change as no nobody was born with his professional identity as doctor,
engineer, scientist. It s the identity you seek and others cultivate in you such as your teachers,
supervisors, and leaders around you. To achieve change, you need to promote the growth mindset.
People with such mindset believe that abilities are like muscles they can be built up with practice.
That is, with concerted effort, you can make yourself better and you tend to accept more challenges
despite the risk of failure (164), by that the Elephant is not reluctant of the journey of change
anymore.
In the third part of the book Shape the Path, the authors are addressing what seen as people
problem is often a situational or environment problem. So what can you do to help the people
surrounding you to accept the required change and make it a little bit easier to embrace

We are exposed to the simulation and its representation of the power the matrix has. According
to Dix (2008), low angles enhance the power of the subject. Morpheus says freeze it and the
dialogue is accompanied by a low angle shot and the audience is forced to look up at him. This
shot shows Morpheus has power inside the matrix. Morpheus looks out of frame when he says
this, confirming prior suspicions they are in a training simulation. The fast tempo and rhythm
grind to a halt with the freeze frame. The high angle wide shot gives us greater insight into the
mimicking stimulation of the chaotic matrix. The simulation emphasises the control and violation
the matrix can have on people within it. Morpheus and Neo are able to freely move, they are not
restrained by the matrix. In the normal world, there is a variety of individuality, the simulation
shows that people in the matrix are unable to make their own choices. The neutral black and
white costuming similar to the agents show they are slaves of them, brainwashed by the matrix.
The doves in the shot are frozen mid flight, a symbol of freedom and peace are unable to be free
as they too are contained in the matrix. According to Bordwell and Thompson (2013), soundtrack is
normally clarified and simplified so important material stands out. The music stops for a moment,

Supply Chain Management At Airbus Implementing RFID Technology
INTRODUCTION
Airbus was the world s leading aircraft manufacturer in 2009 going by the number of aircraft
delivered during the year. The company had been using RFID in its operations since 1997 but on a
lower scale and targeted at improving its internal processes. In mid 2000s, Airbus started using
RFID technology more widely, starting with its spare parts supply chain. After sucessful pilot tests,
Airbus came out with the ambitious plan of adopting a holistic approach by implementing RFID at
its suppliers facilities, in its own operations, and at its customers operations in 2008. The plan was
to achieve higher efficiencies in its operations and also to reduce costs. The ... Show more content

The BuySide domain allowed purchasing managers in Airbus to select products to be purchased

Grace Hopper Essay
Many individuals have altered the way modern day programmers look at computers. Grace
Hopper was a military leader, a mathematician, and a computer programmer. Like many other
computer programmers, Hopper s work was not given the credit it deserved until the later years of
her life. Hopper joined the United States Navy (USN) during World War II. During the time which
Hopper was serving the USN she was assigned to program the IBM Automatic Sequence Controlled
Calculator (ASCC). ASCC was an electromechanical computerwhich was used in later years of
World War II. The ASCC had the ability to compute and print mathematical tables. Charles Babbage
had build the analytical engine with the intent of computing and printing mathematical tables.

A compiler is a device used to transform a set of typed codes into a different computer language. In
addition to this, Hopper was instrumental in popularizing the idea of programming languages that
would be machine independent. This led to the evolution of the modern day programming language,
Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL). In addition to being influential in computer
programming, Hopper was devoted to the USN. Hopper is often regarded as Amazing Grace for
her achievements in the USN. At age 34, Hopper attempted to enlist in the USN but was denied
due to her weight to height ratio being too low. Her job as a professor at Vassar College teaching
mathematics was also deemed unfit for her to join the USN. Like many other women deemed
unfit for the USN, Hopper volunteered to serve for Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency

accomplishments in computer science by former President of the United States, Barack Obama. In
my opinion, Hopper should have a language named after as well as Ada Lovelace. Lovelace was
known as the World s First Programmer but Hopper was also essential in bringing computer
programming closer to the modern day standard. I believe that the nickname Amazing Grace is the
most well fit for Hopper due to her outstanding accomplishments in the world of computer science

Breast Reduction
Breast reduction is a type of cosmetic plastic surgery that removes excess glandular tissue, fat, and
skin from the breasts. This will not only aid in making the breasts more proportional to the rest of
the body, but it also makes them lighter, firmer, and less prone to sagging. Many patients visit the
Aesthetic Center by Kaiser Permanente in Honolulu for cosmetic plastic surgeryand breast
reductions in order to alleviate the back, neck, and shoulder pain they experience due to overly
large breasts.
Benefits of Breast Reduction
There are many benefits that come from having a breast reduction procedure. This form of cosmetic
plastic surgery creates a more balanced body by removing breast weight that might have affected

Differences Between Justice And Mercy
Is mercy in direct conflict with justice? Hypothetically, both justice and mercy exist in the
courtroom on the same, equal opportunity plane, and an equilibrium between the two is necessary
for the establishment of a fitting sentence. But when tumultuous emotion and inevitable bias warp
what is supposed to be level ground, is the coexistence of mercy and justice rendered paradoxical?
In Bryan Stevenson s Just Mercy, the dynamic between these two factors is explored. Stevenson, a
civil rights oriented lawyer in Alabama, works for the relief of falsely or unfairly convicted
teenagers, mothers, and death rowinmates, and it is from these clients jarringly commonplace
circumstances that themes of justice and mercy manifest themselves. But to better... Show more

But these two factors appear starkly different when considering that the extremity of justice is
severity, while the extremity of mercy is permissiveness. Yet their opposites, injustice and
condemnation, share similarities. So then, certainly justice and mercy must somewhat overlap as
well. What is their connection? Recall that at one point, Stevenson feels so utterly overwhelmed
that he is tempted to abscond from his burdening role as a lawyer. This is due to the fact that he,
like any human, has within himself these hidden facets of existence, and they reflect personal pain
and exhaustion. But moreover, he knows that those most at risk of injustice and condemnation are
poor, mentally ill, black, and vulnerable, and that knowledge aches. Such conditions create a broken
community inhabited by broken people, which is further complicated by man s harsh instinct to
crush those among us whose brokenness is most visible (290). But condemnation does not heal.
Instead, it perpetuates harm. If we replaced our vengeance with mercy, not only would the justice
system be predominantly reformed, but we as people would treat one another in such a manner as
to heal our brokenness rather than exacerbate it. And that would be the true

Do Intelligence Research On Was Psychopaths, Particularly...
Question 1:
The group of people that I chose to do intelligence research on was psychopaths, particularly serial
killers. I did not focus on any particular subgroup, however there are subtypes of psychopaths such
as primary and secondary and among those two subtypes it is further broken down into distempered
and charismatic subtypes. In the article Psychopathy: Manipulation, Deception, and Evil, author
Pamela Kulbarsh (2012) defines a psychopath as a morally depraved individual who represent the
monsters in our society; an unstoppable and untreatable predator whose violence is planned,
purposeful and emotionless (p.1). While in the article it states that not all psychopaths are law
breakers that is a different story with serial killers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One other thing that makes serial killers unique is using their working memory to plan out
extensive details in committing a murder. It takes quite a bit of intelligence to plan out a detailed
murder and name step by step what they will do and what their back up plan will be if something
does go wrong. The average person cannot plan out their day step by step very thoroughly much
less committing a crime and getting away with it.
Genetics do play a part in psychopathic tendencies, but also the environment you grow up in and
what you are exposed to plays a role in it as well. For example, Ted Bundy. Crime Feed Staff
(2015) discovered many troubling details about the way he grew up. He lived a childhood full of
lies. He grew up thinking that his birth mother was his sister and that his grandparents were his
parents only later to learn that his sister was actually his mother and that his grandfather was
possibly his father making him a product of incest. There were many things that Bundy did as a
child that showed his strange attraction to violence (p.1). Bundy was exposed to pornography as a
young age and became addicted, he needed to fuel his addiction and his fantasies became so
unbearable he turned it into his reality. Dr. Al Carlisle, the psychologist who evaluated Ted Bundy,
concluded that Because they have painful memories from abuse, disappointment, humiliation,
frustration, or being bullied, they have turned to fantasies

The Failure of the Constitution to Meet the Needs of a...
The Failure of the Constitution to Meet the Needs of a Rapidly Changing Society When the
Constitution was written by the Founding Fathers back in 1787, they intentionally made it so that
it could survive over time. They made it flexable so because they envisaged that there were
problems that they could not forsee in the future, these are things such as the Depression of the late
twenties and early thirties. The Framers intended for the amendment process to be the main way of
updating the constitution and through time this has been evident. An important part of a
democratic government is the accountability of those in power, in recent times we have seen the
system in America fail, in part... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that there is an essential part of the democratic process missing due to flaws in the
constitution. When the constitution was first written in 1787 there was a strong possibility of war,
so when the founding fathers drew up the constitution they added in an article which said that all
people have the right to bear arms. This article has been problematic ever since. Within the last
decade there have been many high profile shootings in schools such as Columbine, this has led to a
stronger fight against the gun laws. There are those such as the National Rifle Association who say
that that right can not be taken away from them as it is one of their constitution rights but there is a
problem with that as within the preamble there is the mention of insuring domestic tranquillity, can
this be done when there are children who can gain easy access to guns, there are also the problems
with the number of deaths due to gun crimes, the right to life is also mentioned in the constitution.
The flexibility of the constitution is crucial to its longevity as if it was too rigid it would not have
lasted, there may be the problem though that it is too flexible. Over the years there hav been many
changes in the federal system, most notably the introduction of Roosevelts New Deal which saw
the power shift more towards the central government, then there was

David Goodall, 102yo Scientist, Told to Leave Edith Cowan University Post (Chapter 4)
The article demonstrates the concept of self schema through Tory Higgin s self discrepancy
theory. This is through the three types of self schema demonstrated by Goddall, who is being
asked to leave his position at the University. Firstly, there is the issue of the actual self which
according to Higgins would refer an accurate perspective on the individual. It is critical to
understand that Goddall is 102 years old and that staff and students have concerns about his
ability to work safely. The second type of self schema shown is the ideal self. Goddall wishes to
continue working on campus as he enjoys being a member of the community. The third aspect of
Higgin s theory highlighted is the ought self as Goddall believes he should not be working from
home and instead be in an alternative space, such as an office.

Attachment Theory
Attachment Theory
The Attachment theory is focused on the relationships and bonds between people, particularly long
term relationships including those between a parent and child and between romantic partners.
Attachment is an emotional bond to another person. Psychologist John Bowlby (1969, 1988) was
the first attachment theorist, describing attachment as a lasting psychological connectedness
between human beings. Bowlby believed that the earliest bonds formed by children with their
caregivers have a tremendous impact that continues throughout life. He suggested attachment also
serves to keep the infant close to the mother, thus improving the child s chances of survival. The
central theme of attachment theory is that primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The infant produces innate social releaser behaviours such as crying and smiling that stimulate care
giving from adults. The determinant of attachment is not food but care and responsiveness. Bowlby
suggested that a child would initially form only one attachment and that the attachment figure acted
as a secure base for exploring the world. The attachment relationship acts as a prototype for all
future social relationships so disrupting it can have severe consequences. Although Bowlby did not
rule out the possibility of other attachment figures for a child, he did believe that there should be a
primary bond which was much more important than any other (usually the mother). Bowlby
believes that this attachment is different in kind (qualitatively different) from any subsequent
attachments. Bowlby argues that the relationship with the mother is somehow different altogether
from other relationships. Essentially, Bowlby suggested that the nature of monotropy (attachment
conceptualized as being a vital and close bond with just one attachment figure) meant that a failure
to initiate, or a breakdown of, the maternal attachment would lead to serious negative consequences,
possibly including affectionless psychopathy. He believes that the long term consequences of
maternal deprivation might include the following: delinquency, reduced intelligence, increased
aggression, depression

Cesar Chavez Influence On Migrant Workers
Labor unions have been instrumental in the lives of workers throughout American history, and have
led to important advances in the American workforce. Throughout history there have been patterns
of exploitation of immigrant workers by businesses in order to increase profits; the Mexican
migrant workers of southern California are the most recent historical group to fall into this pattern
of exploitation mostly from their lack of organization. Cesar E. Chavez was a great organizer and
leader of the United Farm Workerslabor union. Robert Kennedy referred to him as one of the
heroic figures of our time. Chavez used his life experiences in order to better the lives of many
migrant workers in America. Key points in Chavez s life that had... Show more content on

Chavez wanted to help the community that he came from, as well as others like it. The migrant
worker community became his main focus, this resulted his creation of the UFW in 1962
(Chavez Foundation). His earlier life as a migrant worker would be a strong influence for
attaining better working conditions for those workers. Early in Chavez s life, he was exposed to
the hardships of migrant working. When Chavez was 10 his family was forced from their home in
Yuma, Arizona because of back taxes and because of the depression, his family couldn t pay the
payments (Castillo and Garcia, 7). Chavez began migrant work when he was 14, and the injustices
had a memorable effect. Migrant workers were often exploited because of their lack of organization
in a uniform union group, something that Chavez would eventually change. In future years the
UFW would give migrant workers a voice in the conditions under which they were living and
working. Strikes, boycotts, and other nonviolent protests were essential to the UFW s ability to
attain advancements in the Mexican American workplace. Though strikes previous to 1964 were
often unsuccessful because of the Bracero program that was implemented by both the United
States and Mexican governments. Farm owners encouraged this program because of labor
shortages during wartime, but by the 1950 s the Bracero workers were being used to undercut
wages and break strikes by the migrant workers. This caused

technology determines society s cultural and social values and beliefs. As a result of this theory,
technology and culture are two distinct factors. However, according to the technology determinism

Fossil Fuels And Renewable Energy Essay
Finding energy sources is an issue that polarizes scientists, politicians and citizens alike. The most
critical points of this debate are at fossil fuels and renewable energy. Energy efficiency is arguably
the most dire concern facing the planet, because it significantly impacts all areas of everyday life.
Common ground can be found in this controversy because both parties do agree that humans have a
responsibility to future generations. That responsibility is to preserve the resources of the Earth,
while offering this generation energy that is affordable and accessible.
Many people contend that fossil fuels, while being the most cost effective source of energy, have
detrimental effects on the environment. Others argue that fossil fuels have little negative
environmental impact and that producing alternative energy is too economically prohibitive to be
feasible. In 2010, the Gallup Poll conducted a national poll that found half of the Americans
surveyed favored expanding energy production via fossil fuels even if it harms the environment.
This was the case in nearly every major demographic subgroup, although self identified liberals
remained constant in supporting environmental protection as the higher priority (McDermott).
Of these two types of energy production, fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal make up about ninety
percent of the world s energy usage. Nuclear power takes up five percent of this equation, with the
remaining renewable energy resources splitting

Causes Of Bolshevism
During the early 1900s, African American rights were a topic of national discussion with no
definitive solution in sight. In the wake of one of the most violent race riots in American history,
one man sought to overlook racial differences and formalized rules to provide aid to those in need.
Through the leadership of Maurice Willows during the 1921 TulsaRace Riot, the American Red
Cross compromised their mission to allow the organization to be the sole responder, provider of
relief, and champion of African Americanrights.
Following the end of the first world war in 1918, African Americans anxiously and optimistically
hoped that their patriotic sacrifices during the war would have a positive impact on race relations
and expand the boundaries of civil rights. However, fears of labor unrest, Bolshevism stemming
from the Russian Revolution of 1917, and the return of black soldiers spawned a nationwide surge
in violence, much of it directed at African Americans. Due to this, race riots began erupting across
the country and Tulsa, Oklahoma was no exception.
With the discovery of oil nearby, Tulsa had become one of the largest cities associated with the oil
boom by 1915. The prospect of oil attracted large numbers of both whites and blacks looking for
work and by 1921, Tulsa s African American population had grown to almost 11,000. Still enduring
segregation, the predominant African American community in Tulsa was known as Greenwood;

GAA had a great impact on the Easter Rising, but the Easter Rising also had a great impact on the
GAA, in a way that was more positive than maybe understood and contributed to the Association
becoming greater after 1916 than it had before and therefore becoming the Association that it s

In my construction of this thesis I decided to separate the thesis into five different chapters which

Space exploration is necessary and huge on helping our world because it could help avoid

How Is Atticus A Good Role Model
Atticus is a colleague of mine at the school where I work. I know that he would be a spectacular
teacher at your school due to his fatherly image, his respect for his peers and the respect that he
receives from others. His commitment to equality between blacks and whites make him a valuable
contribution to the school community. These character traits create an excellent teacher in the
classroom. Knowing Atticus for a long time has benefitted me with knowing his true personality
and the events, which Harper Lee wrote about in To Kill A Mockingbird, that affected him (gerund).
Atticus is an admirable teacher and role model to his students because of his outlook on equality.

People say someone s children are a reflection of their parents. Atticus taught and raised both of
his kids with Calpurnia (Atticus loyal housekeeper), which shows that he would be an open
minded and a laudable educator. I remember the night when Atticus believed that his son, Jem,
had killed Bob Ewell. He believed that his son had killed Mr. Ewell and needed to be punished
just like everyone else, Thank you from the bottom of my heart, but I don t want my boy starting
out with something like this over his head... I don t want him growing up with a whisper about
him, I don t want anybody saying, Jem Finch... his daddy paid a mint to get him out of that
(366). This characteristic of honesty and fatherly image proves to be a qualification for a
teacher who would impact and challenge students in school. When he was thinking about what
he was going to do with Jem s situation, he knew that he should not let the fact that it was his
son get in the way of the fact that he should be just like everyone else. Atticus a good role model
for younger children, but is also a good role model to kids, his peers, and adults in the
environment. To see the way that Atticus cares for his family, peers, and friends shows his fatherly
image, his commitment to equality for whites and blacks, and the respect he receives from his
peers, kids, and the town

Fixed Costs Associated With Conducting Business As Joints...
Operating costs are expenses supplementary with the operations, maintenance and administration of
a business on a daily basis. The operating cost is a component of operating income and is
customarily included on a company s income statement. A business s operating costs consist of f
two core constituents, fixed costsand variable costs. A fixed costdoes not change with an increase
or decrease in sales or productivity and must be paid regardless of the company s activity or
performance (Lowengrub, 2016). A variable costs changes in direct proportion to the change in
production. If production increases, those costs are variable and linked to the change in production.
Fixed costs associated with conducting business as Joints Ortho includes, amortization, the

The Importance Of Credible Institutions Reporting On The...
Depending on where you get your news, what TV shows you watch, and by which mediums you
most frequently consume the media, your individual interpretation of the same event may vary
greatly with that of others. The advantages of a 21st century media are unquestionable. In an
advanced society it is completely reasonable to assert that differing ideologies are necessary and
in fact healthy for a learned civilization. The importance of credible institutions reporting on the
behalf of the masses is a vital part of the freedoms expected to be globally upheld. Unfortunately,
there are some clearly negative societal consequences of our vast media markets as well. As
they do at times, veer away from credibility and steer towards agenda based and profit influenced
reporting. When consuming any form of media, it is vital to be cautionary of different biases,
and factors that may impact the way information is presented to you as a consumer. It is
important to acknowledge that all media sources operate within the boundaries of some agenda or
purpose. Media sources often times provide very different accounts of the same information. The
Syrian refuge crisis has sparked an extensive amount of discussion globally. in 2016, it has been
one of the most frequently covered topics of discussion. The uniquely demanding crisis, has had
great impact on political rhetoric in every corner of the world. The nearly 6 million estimated
individuals fleeing Syria have been the topic of much discussion.

immigrants may become a socially contentious issue. In November 2010, the government

create tensions in the country.

The Issue Of Safe Sex On College Campuses
1.Using the guidelines for choosing a theory found in the Hayden textbook; discuss the issue of
safe sex on college campuses. You need to briefly discuss the 5 steps and identify relevant
information for each step. i.e. in step 1, tell me why safe sex is a pertinent topic given the
population. Provide justification/supporting data as necessary. The five steps for choosing a theory
include the following: identify the health issue or problem and the population affected, gather
information about the issue or population or both, identify possible reasons or causes for the
problems, identify the level of interaction (intrapersonal, interpersonal, or community) under which
the reason or causes most logically fit, and identify the theory or theories that best match the level
and the reasons or causes. Step one is to identify the health issue or problem and the population
affected. Safe sex is a pertinent topic for college students, because it is a known fact that many
young adults experiment with sex in college. Some researchers have found that the younger
population today is participating in more casual sex. In other words instead of sexual relationships
being just between a boyfriend and a girlfriend they often are between friends or casual
acquaintances. Considering that college students fall into the young adults category it would be
pertinent to provide education on safe sex. Step two involves gathering information about the issue
or population or both. Safe sex

Canada is a country that is rich in natural resources and maintains an economy that is service based.
The natural resources allow Canada to support its own manufacturing and maintain a strong export
base. Although Canada does have a manufacturing portion to its economy, the service industry is
the largest area of Canada s economic growth.
Product Canada seems to mimic the United States when it comes to skin care. However, the French
side of Canada has always valued having beautiful skin and using skin care products to maintain
their beauty. Like most of the world, Canadians wait until they see lines or wrinkles before they
start worrying about revising the condition. Today people know that they live in their skin, the
largest organ in the human body that protects them from the elements and holds all other
components together. They also realize that they have to start protecting their skin earlier in life
from overexposure to the sun through the use of products that protect and moisturize the skin to
help maintain its health.
As consumers become more educated in the products they use and hold companies that produce
them more accountable they are demanding products that are more natural. One example

Persuasive Essay On Homeless Animals
Homeless animals out number homeless people nearly five to one, and roughly six to eight million
enter a shelter where approximately three to four million are euthanized. These animals deserve a
second chance; they don t deserve to be neglected and forgotten. The majority of animals in shelters
show up because of circumstances that surround their owners, such as families moving or the
owner being terminally ill. As opposed to purchasing a pet, you can adopt one that will fit well into
your life style. When adopting, rescuing, or fostering a pet, you provide a home to a loving, yet

An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley is full of lies and...
J.B. Priestley sets the play in a lavish and happy environment. Without Priestley even telling the
audience that the play is set pre war it is obvious because of all the available luxuries and fineries
such as champagne glasses and dessert plates . The war caused great shortages in goods and food,
which led to rationing. No one in 1945 (when the play was written) would have been able to create
a luxuriant celebratory dinner. This cunning use of setting deliberately reminds the audience of
some of the luxuries lost because of the war.
The play, An Inspector Calls, uses moralistic irony to reflect on achievements made today. He
reveals the weaknesses and wickedness not only in society, but in the individual characters; which I

This is surely what is featured in An Inspector Calls.
The 1912 society was a wicked one with evidence of wrong doing, sinfulness, spite, vileness
(wickedness), a society in which there was no equality, democracy, or benefits. Without these
important factors, a society cannot function, and wickedness is decreed in society. Weakness and
wickedness is distributed throughout the play on an individual basis, mostly due to the hypocrisy
and aristocracy of society.
Mr Birling is delineated as a respectable and successful business man, with a wealthy family.
Although by looking beyond the text we can determine that Mr Birling was in fact a selfish,
greedy despot. This is not entirely Mr Birling s fault; it is more to do with the format of society.
Mr Birling was paying Eva twenty two an six (a subsistent amount of money). Eva requested
twenty five shillings . Mr Birling refused to pay and after Eva Smith stood up for what she believed
in, she was sacked.
The fact that Mr Birling acted, and fired Eva shows he was harsh in his actions. Also the fact that
no one found anything wrong with Mr Birling s action, which is an example of wrong doing
defines wickedness/weakness in society.
Sheila Birling s sub sequential actions also encouraged Eva Smith to commit suicide. Sheila was
the one who got Eva Smith fired from Milwards shop. When Sheila was trying on the dress, Eva
laughed. Sheila assumed Eva was laughing

Analysis Of Between Shades Of Gray By Ruta Sepetys
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys is an outstanding book. The story takes place during
the Baltic deportations. One day the Soviet secret police break into Lina Vilkas house ripping
her family apart. The NKVD demands Lina, her brother, and her mother to leave their house
immediately. They are captured and taken into crowded trains in which they are barely given any
food. Many people die inside the trains. The NKVD was trying to sell them for slaves, but Lina s
group was not taken, so they later go into working camps in which they suffer many obstacles
including starvation. Throughout the story, Lina is trying to understand the reason for her family s
deportation. She also has no idea where her dad Kostas is. She uses her talent of drawing... Show

could have possibly done to receive such punishment. Thieves and prostitutes. Our mothers were in

Sleep Apne The Cessation Of Respiratory Airflow
Apnea is defined as the cessation of respiratory airflow. Sleep Apnea is a growing disorder
affecting children and adults without discrimination to age, gender, race or sex. There are three
main categories of apnea: central, obstructive, and mixed. Although there are many forms of
sleeping disorders Central Sleep Apnea(CSA) is classified to be a less common sleeping disorder
characterized by life threating health conditions not limited to death if not diagnosed in a timely
fashion and treated to prevent or reduce the symptoms that cause the apnea threshold Pac02

increase the risk stroke, diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure. Only ten to fifteen percent
people with sleep disordered breathing are classified as having Central Sleep Apnea. Common sign
and symptoms of Central Sleep Apnea include trouble staying awake, shortness of breath, abnormal
breathing patterns during sleep, and sudden awakenings coupled with shortness of breath. Central
Sleep Apnea occurs when there is a decline in respiratory effort and as a result of inadequate
medullary responsiveness or poor muscle coordination for breathing. Central sleep apnea can be
split into more than one main category depending on the underlying conditions that contribute to
the specific disorder. Depending on which type of central sleep apnea a person has, a doctor will

The Reasons Why Cuban Government Permits Non Cuban Workers...
In spite of existential flaws and errors that have taken place, the deliberate persistence of Cuba s
struggling financial afflictions are an unquestionable result of vast outside restrictions placed upon
them. Pressures of this scale, no doubt, would have devastated other countries.
Despite a population of 11 million people, pint sized Cuba has made their mark in global politics.
They ve managed to showcase a genuine socialist revolution and have incessantly fought, defended

Columbus found native people whom relied on farming crops such as tobacco, cassava, maize and
yams. Diego Velasquez seized Cuba in 1511 and developed many plantations throughout the
country. The native people of Cuba, whom lacked resistance to evils of the world, fell ill to many
European diseases. Early in the 1500s the Spanish started smuggling slaves into the borders of Cuba.
By the late 1800s, Cuba had begun to prosper through farming and exporting of sugar cane. Much
of this success was due to the large amount of slaves living on the plantations. The 19th century
brought about the movement for independence. In 1868, a landowner, Carlos Manuel de
Cespedes, set his slaves free causing the start of the Ten Years War. That war ended in failure in
1878. By 1886 slavery was brought to an end across Cuba.
The year 1895 records the Second War of Independence. The United States of America found itself
at war with Spain in 1898. United States military invaded the coasts of Cuba forcing Spain to
surrender. A peace treaty was written that forced Spain to surrender their claim on Cuba. The
United States occupied Cuba for four years after that war. The US departed Cuba in 1902, with the
assumption that Cuba was an independent country however in actuality Cuba found itself
subjugated by the USA.
The 20th century brought about labors to revolutionize Cuba, however in spite of those

  • 2. Leibniz Rationalism Rationalism is the principle that maintains that through reason alone we can gain at least some positive knowledge of the world. The three major rationalists, Rene Descartes, Baruch Spinoza and Gottfried Welhelm Leibniz, used this idea in order to defy skepticism and expose the true nature of reality. However, each philosopher is frequently in disagreement. The idea for God , and what constitutes substance, matter and reality are the four key structural beliefs that aid each rationalist in the forming of their arguments. Yet, it is these four concepts and the arguments behind them that cause the inconsistency found in rationalism. The idea that reason can provide positive solutions to the various questions put forth is made doubtful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, relatedly, the monad must not only exhibit properties, but contain within itself virtually or potentially all the properties it will exhibit in the future, and also contain the trace of all the properties it did exhibit in the past. In Leibniz s extraordinary phrase, found frequently in his later work, the monad is pregnant with the future and laden with the past (Monadology, p22). All these properties are folded up within the monad, and they unfold when and as they have sufficient reason to do so. (Monadology p61) The network of explanation is indivisible to divide it would either leave some predicates without a sufficient reason, or merely separate two substances that never belonged together in the first place. Correspondingly, the monad is one, simple and indivisible. Everything we perceive around us, which is a unified being, must be a single monad. Everything else is a composite of many monads. My coffee cup, for example, is made of many monads (an infinite number, actually). In everyday life, we tend to call it a single thing only because the monads all act together. My soul, however, and the soul of every other living thing, is a single monad which controls a composite body. Leibniz thus says that at least for living things we must posit substantial forms, as the principle of the unity of certain living composites. My ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why The Nurse Interacts With A Family Managing A Chronic... There are many factors to consider when the nurse interacts with a family managing a chronic illness. The nurse must consider the structure of the family and how they interact while also identifying how the family and individual with the chronic condition, manage their condition. They must identify any risk factors that may impede their ability to manage their chroniccondition or protective factors that improve their abilities to self manage. An analysis of the developmental stage the family or individual along with the stage of illness they are experiencing is necessary to successfully build relationships and help guide the family through chronic illness management. Commendation of the family s efforts and abilities to manage difficult situations revolving around illness may enhance the family s confidence and improve self management (Wright and Leahey, 2013). These components will be explored and discussed regarding the family structure of two sisters, R.C. and J.A. • 4. Charles Darwin s Radical New Book On The Origin Of Species The coalescence of the publication of Charles Darwin s radical new book On The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection (1859) and the American Civil War (1861 1865) brought about a dramatic end to transcendentalism and the American Romanticism period that dominated the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. American intellectuals began to apply the knowledge gained from Origin of Species to more fields than just biology. This dynamic understanding (evolution) of life ushered in a period of Naturalism. Naturalist literature was based on the following four basic assumptions : The origin of man is brute matter caught in a struggle for survival; Individual strengths and weaknesses are the results of heredity and chance; Everything is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Norris offers a very pessimistic view of humans and society and that that humans are naturally evil to the reader early on. The fact that Norris described his main character in such a painfully honest tone at the onset of his story not only removes the veil of goodness, but reveals a man struggling to survive, instead of thriving, in his environment. A running theme in this story, congruent with the first naturalistic assumption of the struggle for survival, is the desire for wealth and the eventual greed spawned from this consuming desire. Mac s girlfriend at the time, and later his wife, Trina, won $5000 in a lottery, but was very frugal with her winnings. Mac, who was never accustomed to wealth or high society, found this very frustrating and after the loss of his business, every hour the question of money came up (Norris, 127). He was unrelenting in his search for money. To McTeague , wealth equaled power and success. Norris exemplifies the dangers of greed and how it can get the best of you when McTeague s anger and frustration at Trina with his financial situation boils over, Miser, nasty little old miser. You re worse than old Zerkow, always nagging about money, money, and you got five thousand dollars. You got more, an you live in that stinking hole of a room, and you won t drink any decent beer (Norris, 135). The second naturalistic assumption in McTeague, individual ... • 5. Buddhism And Its Views On Buddhism Buddhism is one of the major religions of the world; it was founded in India and is based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, Buddha, or the Enlightened One/Awakened One. Buddhism is non theistic and is not based on any concept of a supreme or one ruling God. A Buddhist approach is a naturalistic one and the sole purpose of the followers is to end or reduce suffering (dukkha) and attain a state of liberation or enlightenment and the freedom from the cycle of death and rebirth (Nirvana). Buddhist are their own Buddha and the answers of the world will not end their suffering but within themselves they are capable of reaching nirvana. Buddhismhas two major points of view that differ in their telling of Buddha and claim to be the correct story.1 Theravadin is considered the more conservative view and Mahayanais considered the more creative view, these two views tell the story of Buddha and the followers believe their version is the correct version. These differing views make up the religion of Buddhism and the followers carry out the word of their branch. The view of Theravadin Buddhism is the more conservative view and it follows more firmly the original teachings of Buddha it is often referred to as the path of the elders . 1 Theravadin Buddhists believe Buddha is an inspirer and supreme teacher not a God but the very highest human. Buddha believed that the human experience included great suffering, nothing is permanent and nothing in this world should be desired. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Reflection On Marketing Simulation For the past couple of weeks, I engaged in a marketing simulation. This Simulation was extremely fun while challenging as it taught me the right way to advertise and market a new brand, specifically a computer, that you are putting out to the world. The targeted markets were Chicago, Sao Paulo, Paris, and Shanghai. There were three different segments that were related to PC s and laptops. Those three were Mercedes, Workhorse, and Traveler. Below, I am going to mention what specific decisions I made in each of the six quarters as well as why I made each decision. Quarter 1 2 Since quarter one was the first quarter of this simulation, I was unaware of how difficult it was going to be to make all the different decisions. Firstly, I had to choose a Company name. Because I was selling computers, I thought that the name Dev Tech was a perfect fit being that this simulation was about development and technology. Next, I had to choose a target segment. I knew going into this simulation that it would be better to invest in the more expensive goods as it would benefit me in the end. The segment that didn t care about price was Mercedes, so that is the segment that I made my first priority. Next, I had to choose what responsibility I wanted to have with the company. I chose to be president because the president has advantage of having overall leadership. Finally, I had to open a sales office. How a child developments is fundamentally important at a young age as it affects all aspect of their lives once the child matures. Numerous studies have been done in this area as there are many children living in poverty in North America and all across the world. There are roughly over one billion children living in poverty around the world (United Nations Children s Fund, 2010). The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United describes poverty as Lack of knowledge and good skills in herding was widely given as a main cause of poverty. Living in poverty can seriously affect a child s life as the child would not be able to go to school or would do poorly because there was nothing to eat at home so they would not be able concentrate. The child when old enough would have to work all day to make money for the family and many other harsh realities throughout their lifetime. Throughout the course of this paper I will be explain how poverty effects language development of a child because of the reasons of parental education and having a low socioeconomic status. In this paper, I do talk a lot about school statistics a number of times but that is because I believe if one does not have their language skills fully developed the results will show in their work ethic and grades in school. It is important to understand that poverty does not have a direct consequence to language development but it is things associated with poverty such as parental education, health care, child care, low socioeconomic status and many other variables that play an influence in ... The authors used a nice metaphor illustrating the brain as the Rider and the emotions as the Elephant, while the Rider and the Elephant are in consistent conflict to pick or acceptthe right direction for the change journey to make it to the final destination. The battel between the two is mainly whether we can make the journey or it s not worth the efforts and stay where you are just live with the status quobecause your team, the community is unable to try the new journey. The authors are providing some guidance to mitigate this vital conflict, to balance and compromise the needs and the fears of the Riders... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In highly successful change efforts, people find ways to help others see the problems or solutions in ways that influence emotions, not just thought (105). Most people think change happens in this order: ANALYZE THINK CHANGE (106), which is normal when parameters are known, assumptions are minimal, and the future is not fuzzy (106). But during the change situation with the uncertain environment where the parameters is not well known and the future is fuzzy , in this case, the change pattern is not ANALYZEВTHINK CHANGE, but rather SEE FEEL CHANG (106). A second good way to motivate the Elephant is to Shrink the Change . It means breaking the ultimate goal into small achievable objectives and building momentum to keep the Elephant going towards the final destination. To get the Elephant off its duff, you need to reassure it that the task won t be so bad. Hypothetically, both justice and mercy exist in the courtroom on the same, equal opportunity plane, and an equilibrium between the two is necessary for the establishment of a fitting sentence. In Bryan Stevenson s Just Mercy, the dynamic between these two factors is explored. Yet their opposites, injustice and condemnation, share similarities. So then, certainly justice and mercy must somewhat overlap as well. What is their connection? Recall that at one point, Stevenson feels so utterly overwhelmed that he is tempted to abscond from his burdening role as a lawyer. This is due to the fact that he, like any human, has within himself these hidden facets of existence, and they reflect personal pain and exhaustion. But moreover, he knows that those most at risk of injustice and condemnation are poor, mentally ill, black, and vulnerable, and that knowledge aches. Such conditions create a broken community inhabited by broken people, which is further complicated by man s harsh instinct to crush those among us whose brokenness is most visible (290). But condemnation does not heal. Instead, it perpetuates harm. The average person cannot plan out their day step by step very thoroughly much less committing a crime and getting away with it. When the constitution was first written in 1787 there was a strong possibility of war, so when the founding fathers drew up the constitution they added in an article which said that all people have the right to bear arms. This article has been problematic ever since. Within the last decade there have been many high profile shootings in schools such as Columbine, this has led to a stronger fight against the gun laws. The flexibility of the constitution is crucial to its longevity as if it was too rigid it would not have lasted, there may be the problem though that it is too flexible. The attachment relationship acts as a prototype for all future social relationships so disrupting it can have severe consequences. Although Bowlby did not rule out the possibility of other attachment figures for a child, he did believe that there should be a primary bond which was much more important than any other (usually the mother). Bowlby believes that this attachment is different in kind (qualitatively different) from any subsequent attachments. Bowlby argues that the relationship with the mother is somehow different altogether from other relationships. Essentially, Bowlby suggested that the nature of monotropy (attachment conceptualized as being a vital and close bond with just one attachment figure) meant that a failure to initiate, or a breakdown of, the maternal attachment would lead to serious negative consequences, possibly including affectionless psychopathy. Culture refers to a human s way of life, which includes daily and religious traditions, activities, beliefs and anything not related to technology. One theory about technology and its impacts on culture is called technology determinism this theory states that technology determines society s cultural and social values and beliefs. As a result of this theory, technology and culture are two distinct factors. However, according to the technology determinism theory, technology always remains ahead of society s culture. This results in society continuously changing to keep up with the technological changes that occur.6 A specific example about the technology and cultural change that the computer has contributed to in society is the meaning of dating and interaction with friends and family members. • 35. Fossil Fuels And Renewable Energy Essay Finding energy sources is an issue that polarizes scientists, politicians and citizens alike. The most critical points of this debate are at fossil fuels and renewable energy. Energy efficiency is arguably the most dire concern facing the planet, because it significantly impacts all areas of everyday life. Common ground can be found in this controversy because both parties do agree that humans have a responsibility to future generations. That responsibility is to preserve the resources of the Earth, while offering this generation energy that is affordable and accessible. Many people contend that fossil fuels, while being the most cost effective source of energy, have detrimental effects on the environment. Others argue that fossil fuels have little negative environmental impact and that producing alternative energy is too economically prohibitive to be feasible. In 2010, the Gallup Poll conducted a national poll that found half of the Americans surveyed favored expanding energy production via fossil fuels even if it harms the environment. This was the case in nearly every major demographic subgroup, although self identified liberals remained constant in supporting environmental protection as the higher priority (McDermott). Of these two types of energy production, fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal make up about ninety percent of the world s energy usage. Nuclear power takes up five percent of this equation, with the remaining renewable energy resources splitting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In our modern society, the public requires the power and presence of laws and justice system to protect their rights. However, when the structures become shackles and the judges mute off their voice of the truth, it leads the tragedy and misery to the people. Deputy Governor Danforth is a selfish, arrogant, and corrupt man who only cares about his own goods. His flawed personalities and hypocritical attitudes make him blind and irrational throughout the entire witchcraft, which directly causes the calamity of the town. Danforth feels embarrassing and doesn t know what to do when Proctor brings Mary Warren s deposition that shows his previous judgments are wrong. He is baffled and find a reason to defend himself, there lurks nowhere in your heart, nor hidden in your spirit, any desire to undermine this court? Are you in all respects a Gospel Christian? Not come to Church? (94). • 38. Causes Of Bolshevism During the early 1900s, African American rights were a topic of national discussion with no definitive solution in sight. In the wake of one of the most violent race riots in American history, one man sought to overlook racial differences and formalized rules to provide aid to those in need. Through the leadership of Maurice Willows during the 1921 TulsaRace Riot, the American Red Cross compromised their mission to allow the organization to be the sole responder, provider of relief, and champion of African Americanrights. Following the end of the first world war in 1918, African Americans anxiously and optimistically hoped that their patriotic sacrifices during the war would have a positive impact on race relations and expand the boundaries of civil rights. However, fears of labor unrest, Bolshevism stemming from the Russian Revolution of 1917, and the return of black soldiers spawned a nationwide surge in violence, much of it directed at African Americans. Due to this, race riots began erupting across the country and Tulsa, Oklahoma was no exception. With the discovery of oil nearby, Tulsa had become one of the largest cities associated with the oil boom by 1915. The prospect of oil attracted large numbers of both whites and blacks looking for work and by 1921, Tulsa s African American population had grown to almost 11,000. Provide justification/supporting data as necessary. The five steps for choosing a theory include the following: identify the health issue or problem and the population affected, gather information about the issue or population or both, identify possible reasons or causes for the problems, identify the level of interaction (intrapersonal, interpersonal, or community) under which the reason or causes most logically fit, and identify the theory or theories that best match the level and the reasons or causes. Step one is to identify the health issue or problem and the population affected. Safe sex is a pertinent topic for college students, because it is a known fact that many young adults experiment with sex in college. Some researchers have found that the younger population today is participating in more casual sex.
