The document discusses the importance of spiritual growth through remaining connected to Jesus, like branches on a vine. It encourages intentional daily practices like Bible reading, prayer, worship, and fellowship to help believers grow fruitful through their faith. The key practices of reading scripture, prayer, worship and fellowship with other believers are emphasized as ways to remain rooted in Christ and produce spiritual fruit.
The document contains several passages from the Bible and reflections from David Clayton on topics such as discipleship, temptation, forgiveness, putting off earthly desires, and clothing oneself with virtues like compassion, kindness, humility, and patience. It emphasizes living in a way that reflects revelation from God rather than empirical or rational ways of knowing and relying on God's grace to overcome sin and stand up under temptation.
St. Gregory the Great proved himself a brilliant and loving shepherd as Pope. During the Lombard invasion of Italy in the 6th century, he organized both charitable relief for the people and military resistance. Among his greatest successes were the conversion of Barbarians like the Lombards to Christianity and the reformation of Church rituals and liturgy through regulations that still influence practices today.
1. Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Make prayer a priority and focus on it diligently. Stay alert in prayer and watch for God's answers with an attitude of gratitude.
2. The document discusses the importance of prayer according to Colossians 4:2. It emphasizes being devoted, watchful and thankful in prayer based on examples from biblical saints like David, Daniel and Anna.
3. Key points include praying constantly, watching and waiting for God attentively, and expressing thankfulness to God in all circumstances. The overall message is a challenge to be a Colossians 4:2 Christian by prioritizing prayer.
The document discusses the early church in Colossae and the purpose of Paul's letter to them. It provides background information on:
- The city of Colossae and the churches in the region
- The church at Colossae being founded by Epaphras who was discipled by Paul
- A "Colossian heresy" arising that promoted wrong teachings about Christ
- Paul writing the letter to combat this heresy and emphasize Christ's supremacy and sufficiency
- The letter addressing doctrinal issues in chapter 1, defending Christ's teachings in chapter 2, and displaying the duties of believers in chapters 3-4.
Paul wrote the letter to the Colossians to combat wrong teachings in the Colossian church regarding Christ. He outlines the doctrines of Christ's supremacy and sufficiency. Paul prays for the Colossians, asking God to fill them with knowledge of his will through wisdom and understanding. He prays they would live worthily of the Lord, bear fruit, and be strengthened through God's power. Paul emphasizes the importance of prayer and discipleship for spiritual growth and fruitfulness.

Church Leadership In the New Testament EdwardFudge
The document discusses church leadership in the New Testament based on examples from Jerusalem. It describes the first reported church decision to replace Judas, noting those involved were near Jesus, grounded Scripture, and divinely led. It also outlines the first act of organization where seven men were chosen to oversee serving tables. The Jerusalem conference process is summarized as involving stating positions, seeing what God is doing now, listening to Scripture afresh, proposing a gospel-centered solution, obtaining agreement, and announcing the Spirit-led decision. Other early glimpses show unity, generosity, acceptance of Saul, relief efforts, and meetings with elders and James. Observations are that apostles were witnesses and teachers with moral authority from proximity to Jesus, without succession

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
