• According to EPA, indoor air quality is one of Top Five risks to public to public health
• As per CPCB survey, 23 of the 32 stations across (mainly cities) India are showing more than 70%
exceedance of the national standards
Impact on cities
➢ From 1990 to 2015, air pollution-related
deaths jumped 50 percent claiming 1 life
in every 23 seconds
➢ In Delhi alone 4.4 Million children
suffer from lung and respiratory
diseases
➢ PM10 concentration in Delhi is 268 g/m3
for the year 2015, which are 4.5 times
higher than the National Ambient Air
Quality Standards (NAAQS) annual limit
set by CPCB
Effect of plants:
 Janet Craig – Three of these plants in a 130-
square foot room cuts VOC’s up to 70%
 Peace Lilly – Can boost a room’s humidity by
up to 5%. In the winter months, this small
increase is enough to relieve dry throats and
noses.
 Boston Fern – is the most effective plant to
remove the toxic gas formaldehyde.
