This document contains responses from several individuals about their preferences for horror movie genres, tropes, and whether they would watch a film about a schizophrenic patient haunted by his mother's ghost after killing her. Respondents' ages ranged from 13 to over 21. Common horror tropes mentioned included scary characters, victims who need saving, haunted houses, and killers with tragic backstories. Some stated preferences for sci-fi and action films over horror. Not all said they would watch the described film without more context about its story and characters.
The document provides a history of the horror genre in film from the late 1890s to the present. It notes that the first depictions of supernatural horror appeared in silent shorts produced by Georges Melies in the late 1890s. In the 1930s and 1940s, Universal Studios produced a successful series of Gothic horror films including Dracula and Frankenstein. As technology advanced, films explored fears of Armageddon and demons, exemplified by Godzilla. The 1960s saw the emergence of the slasher subgenre with films like Peeping Tom. Comedy-horror rose in popularity in the 1970s-1980s. In the 1990s, slasher films became self-referential and ironic, while the 2000s
A patient in a white gown and white socks is in a small, enclosed room with a mirror, sink and bed, along with a nurse in uniform and hat. An apparition appears as another patient in a torn and blood-stained white gown. The short film involves screams, instability, and a voiceover effect with clues building to a twist ending.
Patient 256 has a split personality and one personality sees apparitions of his murdered mother. A apathetic nurse cares little for the patients. The film will follow a schizophrenic patient suffering hallucinations of his traumatic past, as revealed through his diagnosis read by a nurse, and an apparition appearing in his room's mirror, with a twist ending.
