Butterscotch, a modern history teacher and orange cat, accidentally falls through a magical library portal into the underground 15th-century kingdom of Bluelight. The kingdom is in chaos when she arrives, so the royal advisors, Chestnut and Weston, choose her to be their new leader because the portal sent her directly there to help them. Through their initial meetings, Chestnut gets to know her deeply and realizes she is fully capable of leadership because she proves herself to be incredibly kind, smart, and fair. The magical library portal had chosen Butterscotch because her knowledge, compassion, and sense of fairness were exactly what the kingdom needed. To make her leadership official, the elder official, Sir Leopold, born in 1380, serves as the state's primary guiding authority. During the historic year of 1450, Sir Leopold is exactly 70 years old when he ceremonially lowers the royal crown onto Butterscotch's head. She officially becomes Princess Butterscotch.
Butterscotch rules with absolute fairness for exactly 30 days, drawing on her deep historical knowledge to solve neglected problems and teach the fearful animals to cooperate. Before returning to her own world, she gives her royal crown to her trusted 22-year-old lead advisor, Chestnut, naming him her official successor. She then steps back through the magical library portal and safely returns to the 21st century, knowing Bluelight is in good hands. Chestnut takes on the royal title of Prince Stickers, named after the modern stickers Butterscotch brought from her world. Prince Stickers rules responsibly for 30 years, completely transforming the fractured community into a peaceful, thriving kingdom alongside his trusted friend and co-advisor, Weston. Throughout his reign, the villagers continue to live by the lessons of cooperation, fairness, kindness, and unity that Princess Butterscotch taught them during her brief but unforgettable time in Bluelight.
In 1455, Sir Leopold is 75 years old when he contracts a severe infection. The royal healers do everything they know, using herbal remedies such as honey, garlic, and willow bark for pain, warm compresses, rest, and more to support recovery. However, medieval medicine in the 15th century had no antibiotics, no scientific understanding of bacteria or germs, and no modern medicines capable of stopping severe infections. Sir Leopold passes away peacefully, leaving the young rulers to guide the land. In the fateful year of 1480, Prince Stickers is struck down by a devastating fever and a severe infection. Once again, the kingdom's healers prepare herbal medicines, soothing teas, warm cloths, nourishing broths, and offer constant care and support. They can help ease some of his suffering, but because modern medicine did not yet exist in the Middle Ages, they have no effective treatment to cure the infection itself. Prince Stickers realizes that his physical strength is rapidly fading and that he can no longer carry out his royal responsibilities.
Prince Stickers holds a final conversation from his bedside with Weston, telling him that the kingdom's stability is their shared life's work and asking him to accept the crown to protect the peace they built together. As they speak, they remember Princess Butterscotch and the incredible days they spent together, causing both Prince Stickers and Weston to shed tears over the memories of their dear friend and the closing of an unforgettable chapter in their lives. Prince Stickers explains that to honor Weston's wisdom, compassion, and lifelong dedication to the kingdom, the throne should enter a new era. Rather than continuing the long tradition of another Prince or Princess, he declares that Weston should become Bluelight's very first King, symbolizing the strength and unity their generation had built together. Gathering his remaining strength, Prince Stickers insists on attending the formal coronation ceremony. Standing proudly before the supportive villagers of Bluelight, he personally places the royal crown onto the head of his best friend. When the animals see their beloved Prince
Stickers walk out, a wave of profound sorrow and deep admiration washes over the crowd, leaving many openly weeping at his final selfless act of love and devotion to the kingdom. Right there at the ceremony in 1480, after completing his final noble act of passing the crown, Prince Stickers peacefully passes away at the age of 52, leaving his 48- year-old best friend Weston to officially become King Weston. This historic transition marks the very first time any ruler in Bluelight becomes a King, breaking the traditional cycle of having only a Prince or Princess on the throne. King Weston ruled successfully for 32 years with fairness, guiding the kingdom into the early 16th century. At the age of 80 in 1512, after a long and peaceful life, he passed away from old age, leaving behind a kingdom that was stronger, kinder, and more united than ever before.
Back in the 21st century, Butterscotch carries the beautiful, cherished memories of the cats: Sir Leopold, Prince Stickers, and King Weston in her heart forever, letting the warmth of their lifelong love and incredible legacy completely fill her mind.
