Whether you’re creating a theme or plugin for distribution on WordPress.org, or writing code for a client, you need to provide a great experience for the users who install your code.
Your added functionality usually means additional Settings, Post Types, Taxonomies, Custom Fields and overall Workflow. Don’t make users struggle to look for your settings page, or become confused and frustrated when trying to fill in fields for a custom post type. Provide them with inline help, where and when they need it
In this session you will learn how to limit support tickets, emails and general user frustration, by creating
-Dismissible admin notices.
-Pointers
-Help tabs
-Custom fields with inline help.
and much more.

Editor's Notes
scratched our own itch
scratched our own itch
WP Engine is building an internal project management platform with Piklist.
This Camp website is only open 8 weeks a year and does tons of traffic with signups. Piklist is being used to build all their internal systems.
BrainPOP, a popular education website uses Piklist and WordPress to showcase thousands of pages of content and tie in to another system built on Web Engine. Here’s their Settings page.
BrainPOP uses 7 post types, and 14 taxonomies. Here’s a post type page. The checkboxes below are based on those terms we imported.
In fact, the repair system was so successful we built another system for their new bike sales.
