The Noblest Roman Of Them All

Brutus, the man who made the phrase stabbing a friend in the back literal. He kept only the best
of intentions in mind when he sacrificed his friendship for the better of the whole. He was
considered a noble, naive idealist and patriotic politician by his fellow patricians. Due to his
strong passion for Rome, this tragic hero was manipulated to turn against a dear friend. Marcus
Brutus battled with his conflicting emotions on account of his close relationship with Caesar,
extreme loyalty to Rome, and blind trust. Brutus felt he was caught in an internal battle between
fulfilling his loyalty to his country and the friendship with Caesar. Early in the play, he
apologizes for being withdrawn and troubling Cassius with his personal grievances. Then that
poor Brutus, with himself at war, forgets the shows of love to other men (I.ii.46 47). Brutus s
political mindset feared the damage a king would do to the republic while his love for Caesar
hampered him from taking action. Cassius asked Brutus if he feared the crowning of Caesar. In
response, the distressed patrician expressed both his political and personal opinions. He admitted
his fear, but also stated he loved Caesar. He then inquired whether Cassius s intention was
necessary for the general good. He would weigh honour and death impartially, but result in loving
the name of honor more than the fear of death. (I.ii.78 89)

The Digitial Millenium Copyright Act Essay
The Digitial Millenium Copyright Act As current lawsuits unfold and the history of the Internet
progresses, the debate over the future of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act thrives. The Digital
Millennium Copyright Act, signed into law by President Clinton on October 28, 1998, was written
in an attempt to strike a balance between the rights of a work s creator to receive adequate
compensation and society s fundamental right to freedom of information. The bottom lineis that the
objective of the Digital Millennium Copyright Actis to prohibit all Internet users from accessing
copyrighted materials on the Internet. The most renowned case where this is currently happening is

The current court case and ensuing media battle are accomplishing little in the way of creating
real long term solutions to online piracy (Frankel 1). The only way to get to the core of the issue
and really understand the Digital Millennium Copyright Act is to get a little bit of a background on
copyright itself.
Almost three hundred years ago, England was the first country to formally establish the first
copyright laws in what they called, the Statute of Anne. The rationale behind establishing the world
s first copyright laws was supposedly to protect the rights of the consumer. The Statute of Anne
was created with the title of an act for the encouragement of learning, although works, such as
books, were not considered valuable pieces of art that should be protected. Instead, they were
considered valuable commodities to profit from. When the United States Constitution was first
being written in 1787, our founding fathers recognized that everyone would benefit if creative
people were encouraged to create new intellectual and artistic works. The framers of the
Constitution admired the Statute of Anne and took care to include a copyright clause (Article 1
Section 8) giving congress the power to promote the progress of science and useful arts by passing
laws that give creative artists (labeled authors in the constitution) the exclusive

The Commissioner Of Social Security Essay
Service Delivery
The Commissioner of Social Security is responsible for administering the OASDI program and
service delivery. They are not there to collect FICA taxes. FICA taxes is performed by the Internal
Revenue Service of the Department of the Treasury. The Secretary of the Treasury supervises the
preparation and mailing of benefit checks or direct deposits on debit cards and banking accounts.
They also provide management and investment of the trust funds. Social Security numbers is an
identifiable method used for posting and maintaining the earnings and employment records of
persons covered under the Social Security program. Employers are in charge of withholding FICA
taxes from their employees paychecks. They must forward these amounts, along with an equal
amount of employer tax, to the IRS on a regular schedule (Old Age, Survivors, and Disbiilty
Insurance, 2016).
If an insurer is employed, employers must file wage reports through (Form W 2) with the Social
Security Administration showing the wages paid to each employee during the preceding year, at
the beginning of February. The W 2 form will be shared with the IRS. If an insurance holder is
self employed persons report their earnings for Social Security purposes and pay SECA taxes in
connection with their Federal income tax return. Information from self employment income
reports is sent by IRS to SSA. These reported earnings are placed in the worker s record at SSA

Stormbreaker Essay Quotes
Theme
Don t give up, even in the worst times. Sometimes you are faced with a challenge that makes you
wanna give up and stop trying but, you should never give up, even at the worst time. The novel
Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz, is about a 14 year old boy named Alex Rider which
becomes a spy at 14 after his Uncle died and his first mission is to find information about Sayle
Enterprises, owned by Herod Sayle, and why they are going to donate hundreds of computers to
england. In this mission, Alex is able to enter the building as a teen testing the Stormbreaker but,
still has to go through multiple challenges, some easier than others, to find out what Sayle
Enterprises is doing. Throughout this novel, a constant theme I saw was to not give up, even in the

The novel Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz uses description effectively. An example is, Alex
hears a knock on the door, it was a butler named Mr.Grin, he told him to follow him and Mr.Grin
begins to open a door. There was a green glow as his fingerprints were read, and a moment later,
the door slid soundlessly open. Everything was different on the other side of the door. From the
art and elegance of the main house, Alex could have stepped in to the next century (102) By
using a lot of descriptions, is easier to picture what Alex is seeing and what is happening.
Another example is, after alex got caught and punched by Mr.grin and alex waked up His head
was thumping and the side of his face was swollen where Mr. Grin had hit him. His arms were
twisted behind him and the tendons in his shoulder were on fire. (178) Especially in a book with
action and some violence, being descriptive really helps because you are able to see and read
what is happening and what they are feeling. Hence, the description used in Stormbreaker by
Anthony Horowitz is effective. Description in a book can make very realistic, maybe too

Black Men And Public Places Essay
Misunderstandings happen all the time, but how one handles those misunderstandings tells a
lot about their character and who they really are as a person. Sometimes misunderstandings are
a result of someone stereotyping because of a race, religion or even simple actions. This issue is
apparent in Black Men and Public Places . A graduate student at University of Chicago as
endured these issues, but has found ways around them. In today s age many people assume the
worst without knowing the person first hand and or their actual intentions. The opening sentence
states My first victim , I feel as though the word victim has a very derogatory sound to it, but the
reader finds out later that it s just a lady whom happens to be walking in front of the large black
man. Being a small somewhat vulnerable female I have done the same thing when running, I see
someone behind me who I don t know, but I think seems a bit odd I run faster to safety without
actually knowing his or her actual intentions. The young yet large black man whom looked a bit
scraggly realized he looked similar to what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an issue today people think on impulse and not how it will make someone else feel.
Everyone was locking their doors when he would walk by, and all he was doing was on a walk.
It is truly sad how some people may look a little different or not be perfect and everyone
immediately assumes the worst. It is even sadder that law enforcement does the same thing, and
the person they feel is in the wrong is forced to try and stay calm and defend themselves for
doing nothing. He however found ways to make seem pleasant to avoid others being so afraid of
him. By simply whistling classical music people were less afraid of him. Everyone looks at
others in a different way and sometimes that is not a good way, but perception is everything in

Definition Of Due Process. A Requirement That Laws And
Definition of Due Process
A requirement that laws and regulations must be related to a legitimate government interest (as

an individual called also substantive due process Editor s note: The guarantee of due process is
found in the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution, which states no person shall...be deprived of

Governments direct exchange, lead war with different nations, give fundamental administrations,
and most essential, limits individual conduct. Left to itself; governments can and have executed,
tormented, detained, and oppressed their kin. Governments have practiced unfair control over such
matters as discourse, religion, and affiliation. The acknowledgment of human rights, regularly
communicated in a lawfully restricting bill of rights, is a response against such oppressive regimes
intended to constrain the force of the administration.
Due process rights are the cases a criminal litigant has when blamed by the legislature for an
unlawful demonstration. The legislature must regard these rights some time recently, amid, and
after a criminal trial. Disregarding of any of the due procedure rights will ordinarily void a
conviction. In this sense, due process rights can t be automatically relinquished. One s entitlement
to be free from discretionary captures, detainments, and outcasts is the focal worry of due process
rights. A variety of other due process rights backings and actualizes this focal right. A key part of
the due procedure rights is the privilege to a reasonable trial.

Mixed Blood Jefferson M. Fish Summary
In the article titled Mixed Blood written by Jefferson M. Fish, Jefferson compares how races are
defined in the United States and Brazil by providing examples of how people are classified
because of their appearance. In writing this article Fish s point that he wants to get across is
people are categorized differently accordingly to where it is that an individual is located. But most
importantly his point in writing this article is to make it clear that the way raceis defined does not
give an accurate representation of the reality of things because of what each person considers
themselves to be. Fish states, Consider the avocado is it a fruit or a vegetable? Americans insist it
is a vegetable. We eat it in salads with oil and vinegar. Brazilians,... Show more content on

For instance, across the world many people encounter many different cultures and if they have had
a bad experience with one certain culture they assume that all the people of that culture are the
same or much worse when a person does something that in their culture it is normal others find it
to be offensive. For instance, in some countries adultery is a crime while in others it isn t.
Therefore, if a person grows up in a culture where it is normal to commit adultery and then goes to
another country where it is a crime that person would not be attentionally committing a crime but
rather following its culture that has been taught. That is where the law comes to play and must

guilty on a 1 to 7 scale, and the severity of punishment the participant thought the defendant
should receive with 5 choices. This was done by the use of four different surveys, a black

Descriptives were done on guilt rating (M = 4.55, SD = 1.539) and punishment rating (M = 2.43,

The results yielded contradicting evidence to previous research. In previous research,
eyewitness testimony credible or not has shown to influence a juror s decision (Pozzulo
Dempsey, 2009; Whitley, 2001). In this case, we only compared discredited and credible
witness. From each other, they did not show a difference on juror s decision. In addition, black
defendants are convicted more and receiver harsher punishments than white defendants (Demuth
Steffensmeier, 2004). On the other hand, a review by Sommers s (2007) indicated the degree to
which race plays a role still needs to be studied more. Although, his conclusion was that race does
play some type of role in a juror s decision. The current study supports Sommers s review in that
more research does need be conducted because of the contradicting

Trophy Hunting Research Paper
Uproar Surrounding Trophy Hunting
The continent of Africa provides a home to biodiversity unlike anywhere else. Many endangered
species roam the various biomes that call Africa home. Trophy hunting has been a popular activity
for many decades; many well known individuals such as the Theodore Roosevelt participated.
Trophy hunting is hotly debated within the scientific community; Lucille Palazy, who works for the
University of Paris, introduces this, Trophy hunting is one of the most controversial issues in the
field of biodiversity conservation... (Palazy, Lucille, et al. 1). This debate has many main supporters

Some researchers such as Nuzzo and Traill, who work at Imperial College London and are
published in the African Journal of Ecology, feel as though not enough research has been done on
the topic. Nuzzo and Traill studied data from the years of 1960 to 2011. They conclude, ...[we]
cannot draw any strong conclusions... this research emphasizes the need for population level
monitoring programmes, (Nuzzo, Marcella C, and Lochran W. Traill 253). Conservationists such as
Michael Paul Nelson choose to evaluate the issue through an ethical stance. Nelson introduces an
important idea within conservation, consequentialism. Nelson states, consequentialism is... the end

et al. 303). This idea must be taken into consideration when trying to solve the issue. Other
conservationists are strongly against trophy hunting, such as Peter Lindsey. Lindsey works at the
University of Pretoria and Panthera, a conservation association dedicated to lions. In one of his
studies, Trophy Hunting of African Lions... , Lindsey et al. studies data from the government of
South Africa and data on lion hunting quotas and legal hunting areas. Lindsey et al. produce a firm
opinion; ...there remain several problems associated with the negative management of lion hunting
which may perpetuate negative impacts, (Lindsey, Peter Andrew, et al. 9). In another of Lindsey s
articles, he discusses the differences between wild trophy hunting as opposed to captive bred lions
being trophy hunting. Lindsey summarizes, Some trophy hunting organizations...differentiate

important caveat can skew data collected depending if the organization data gathered from

Questions On Dispute Resolution Mechanism
CIVIL 790 Civil Engineering Administration Assignment 1 Dispute Resolution Mechanism
Disputes are a common occurrence when dealing with construction contracts, and can arise in a
number of different areas. Some of the more common areas include; time for completion, quality of
workmanship, payment, and contractual documentation. Section 13 in NZS3910:2013 sets out to
resolve such disputes using the Disputes Resolution Mechanism , by attempting to fairly/equally
resolve any dispute which is not precluded by the previsions of 12.4, 12.6, 13.1.1 or 13.2
(NSZ3910:2013 13.1.2), whilst maintaining flexibility, and preservation of the disputants
relationship. Section 13 of NZS 3910:2013 sets out to resolve any dispute/difference using a three
step process, wherein after each stage if the dispute is not amicably resolved, the next step is taken.
The Engineers review is the first stage in the Disputes Resolution Mechanism outlined in
NZS3910:2013. All disputes that arise must be referred to the Engineer not later than 1 Month after
the provision of the Final Payment Schedule under 12.5.1, 12.5.3, or 12.5.4 or more than 1 Month
after the date on which any relevant Adjudicator s Determination is given to the parties, whichever
is the later (NZS3910:2013 13.2). This process begins with the Principal, Contractor, or the

Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs Essay
In social work, leaders are in charge of motivating their employees to perform their jobs to the best
of their abilities. Sometimes leaders must apply a motivation or leadership theory in order to
motivate their employees. (Fisher, 2009)
Motivational theories are important for leaders in social worker. One of the most important tasks of
a leader is to stimulate productivity among employees. This requires motivation. Employees work
in the social work field for a variety of reasons. Therefore, it is important for leaders to
understand what motivates employees. The three main motivational theories include Maslow s
Hierarchy of Needs, Hertzberg s Two Factors and Motivator Hygiene Theory, and McClelland s
Trichotomy of Needs. (Fisher, 2009) Leaders can use Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs to motivate
employees. The motivational needs in this theory form a pyramid. Leaders must recognize that
employees may be on different levels of needs from one another. The needs at the bottom of the
pyramid must be met before the needs at the higher levels. In order for this theory to work,
leaders must identify the level of need that each employee is currently facing. The first level of
needs is the physiological level. This level has motivators of food, shelter, and clothing. The second
level of needs is security. Leaders can provide this level of need by ensuring job security. The third
level of needs is social needs. Leaders can provide this level of need by helping the

Thomas Hardy s Tess Of The D Urbervilles
In Thomas Hardy s Tess of the d Urbervilles, Tess Durbeyfield, who is related to the ancient upper
class d Urberville family, describes herself as only a peasant by position, not by nature (239).
When Mr. Durbeyfield, Tess father, discovers that he comes from the line of the d Urbervilles,
many of Tessfeatures and characteristics are explained. However, while Tess appearance and
qualities cause her to appear as an aristocrat, her upbringing justifies her as a peasant. Tess family
is financially constrained, her mother holds fatalistic, superstitious folk beliefs, and she is a
working woman. However, Tess more intrinsic qualities such as her looks, ethical sensitivity,
relational intensity, and aptitude in comparison to her fellow countrymen, present her as a
deeper passioned (140) woman of a higher class. Therefore, Tess, both socially and culturally, is
essentially a combination of both classes, and she does not fully fit in with either class. In the
novel, Tess character, qualities, and position reveal her as both a d Urberville, an aristocrat, and
a Durbeyfield, a peasant. When the Durbeyfields discover their noble ancestry, many of Tess
qualities, such as her beauty, sensitivity, and intensity are justified. Tess, unlike the common folk
she lives among, is beautiful, appears more of a woman than she really [is] (38), and her young
features look(ed) sadly out of place (23) in Marlott, her hometown. It is made obvious by her dark

The Uses of DNA: DNA Fingerprinting
Sir Alec Jeffreys 1984 discovery of DNA fingerprinting in England has revolutionized the criminal
justice system by enabling legal entities to determine innocence or guilt of a suspect to a much
higher level of accuracy(Butler). This discovery has also provided the ability to identify victims of
natural disasters or catastrophes like 911(Lippincott). Additionally, DNAtesting or profiling, has
helped doctors and researchers to identify medical conditions and illnesses, determine pre existing

It has greatly made an impact on crime cases, especially in forensic investigations because it not
only helped find suspects, but it also improves the accuracy of who the suspect is and up until now,
DNA fingerprinting is still continuing to grow and flourish itself for greater use in the future.
Four years have passed since the discovery of DNA fingerprinting. During those four years people
have learned that the four probes known to allow DNA fingerprinting in the human (M13, Jeffreys
core sequence, the human О± globin hypervariable region [HVR]) were checked for their ability to
reveal genetic barcodes in animals(Georges et al.). Jeffreys core sequence, and the Per probe uses
the four different probes(Lippincott). Depending on the particular probe species combination, the
fingerprints are polymorphic enough to be used efficiently in animal identification, paternity
testing, and as a source of genetic markers for linkage analysis(Butler). These markers should
substantially accelerate the mapping of genes affecting economically important traits(Roewer). If
this revealed genetic barcodes in animals then the same could also be done for humans and it could
possibly help out with the Human Genome Project that was started in 1990(Friedland). James D.
Watson constructed the Human Genome Project was for further biological study to discover all the
estimated 20,000 25,000 human genes to make it accessible(Friedland).

Carbon 14 Dating
Evolution is described in many different ways, from a gradual development in social or economic
structure, to a change in the gene pool of a population from generation to generation. These
definitions tell people that evolution is diverse and depending on the context, it can mean
completely different things. For example a change in a gene pool can be very beneficial especially
when concerning genes that cause certain immunities to specific illnesses. But it can also mean that
a young child has evolved from his/her shy personality and is now a very outgoing person.
Scientists such as Charles Darwin, Charles Lyell, and Jean Baptiste Lamarck have theorised and
searched for information about evolutionand given provided the population of the world with large

not support the modern theory of evolution.
Transitional species are species that show the intermediate states between an ancestral form and

zygote and a fetus. They have similar features but are still adapting, growing, and changing. This is
how transitional species supports the less extreme version of modern

Prostate Cancer In Men Essay
Long waist men have a higher risk of developing more aggressive types of prostate cancer, a new
study suggests.
A survey of 140,000 men in eight European countries showed that 10 cm more in abdominal

The largest group at risk, however, was men with a waistline greater than 94 cm, according to the

Prostate cancer is the most common in men.
The study, which was presented at the European Obesity Summit in Gothenburg, Sweden, examined

The Collapse Of Asia s Economy
In the years following the collapse of Asia s economy in 1998, South Korea turned to alternative
exports to assist in both the restructuring of the nation s financial strength and it s reputation in
international markets. As a result, pop cultural exports such as films, television dramas, pop music
and celebrities associated with these forms of media discourses have found growing popularity in
China, Hong Kong, Taiwan; as well as many other East and Southeast Asian countries. This
growing popularity of pop cultural exports has proved to be a tool in constructing a contemporary

As the technology advanced in China and North Korea the MiG 15 came in to play and was far
more superior than the piston engine aircraft the United States and UN forces were flying. One
of the most significant things about the MiG 15 is that with its superiority over the P 51
Mustang the United States Air Force had to keep all of the B 29 Superfortress grounded due to
the lack of security. The B 29 Superfortress had been a major game changer in World War II. The

was Nazi Germany. Thankfully we don t have to live through that anymore. Why? Because faults
in the society lead to its failure. All societies fail, but why? Corrupt leaders, lack of resources, and
failure in security can all lead to the downfall of a society. Now not all societies fail for these
reasons, but Nazi Germany, ancient India, Rome, and the Glade, a fiction society in The Maze
Runner book by James Dashner, have. The are usually many faults in our governmentand every
government whatever type of government it is. Leaders are very important in a society because
everyone looks up to the leader, but what happens when the leader is corrupted? Bad things happen
when a leader is corrupted, It happened in Germanyand in The Maze Runner. In the Glade they
have a council of Keepers who run the government. The Keepers are like the CEO of one of the
many jobs at the Glade. The Keepers make the laws and vote on issues. Gally is one of the
Keepers on the council. Gally is a bully. He threatened to kill Tomas more than once and has hurt
other citizens in the Glade. Gally also does not respect their government system. He wants to be
the only leader. All of the leaders need to be on the same page, so everything can work right. In
this case it wasn t, which is why the Glade fell.
During the Nazi Germany era, Hitler started out nice but abused his political power and became a

Linus Torvalds
What would you do if you were faced with a system that you weren t satisfied with? Would you
just accept the system? Would you look for a new one? Linus Torvalds found himself in that
situation while in college. His solution: create his own. Due to my research, I believe that I am
able to touch upon the life of Mr. Torvalds, and the creation for which he is most widely known. It
is my hope to commemorate Mr. Torvalds and his work. The efforts put forth by Linus Torvalds
have changed computing in a large way, and for those with an interest in computers, few can claim
such significance as he.

interview with Computerworld magazine in October of 2007, he stated It certainly wasn t money,
since the original copyright was very strict about that. I didn t think that Linux would become as

One of the most praised aspects of the Linux kernel is that it is completely open source. He

ensured that, while anyone can edit and contribute to the development of Linux, they must release
the source code for the changes that they make. Due to this, many have used the Linux kernel in
creating their own operating systems. There are many Linux distributions , which are third party

How to Change Oil in a Car Essay
How to Change Oil in a Car
Owning a car is usually a significant investment for an individual. Changing the oil on your car
plays an important part to help keep it functioning at peak performance and to ensure that your
vehicle last for many miles. You might wonder how often does the oil need changing. Well,
manufactures advise that the oil is changed every 3,000 miles or every three months, whichever
occurs first. Changing the oil is not an extremely difficult task, but it is always good to have
someone else there, who has done this before, to help if needed. I would also suggest finding an
outfit you wouldn t mind getting dirty and a pair of rubber gloves to keep your hands clean.
The key to keeping any task, especially this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two empty milk containers should do the trick. If you don t have any laying around, just use the
empty oil bottle containers. A funnel works well when transferring the old oil into the containers.
Last, some old rags are good for cleaning up spills.
Now that all the materials are gathered, we can change into our outfits and get started. Make
sure that your car is parked on a level surface, rather than a hill or an inclined driveway. Start
your car and let it run for about 10 minutes. This process allows the oil to warm up which makes
it drain quicker than cold oil. Shut the car off and engage the parking brake. Place jack under
vehicle lift points, located on the frame rails just behind the front tires. Raise the car by pumping
the jack up and down, giving enough clearance to slid the jack stand under the car. Place the jack
stand under the frame or anywhere sturdy enough to support the weight of the car. Adjust the
height of the stands to allow room for you to get under the car. After jack stands are positioned,
slowly lower the car onto the stands by turning the pole on the jack to left.
Now its time to grab your drain pan and slide under the car to located the oil pan. It is located on
the lowest, very bottom part of the engine. There is a plug, which is a bolt, located on the bottom
part of the oil pan. Make sure you are not directly underneath the plug. The drain pan should be
directly under it. Use a socket wrench or an adjustable wrench to

Dutch And Nigerian Weddings Essay
Over the last couple of weeks I have been studying the subject of Dutch and Nigerian weddings. I
looked at photographs, a short movie and websites on the topic. I also interviewed some Dutch
people that used to live in Nigeria. I have come the conclusion that Dutch and Nigerian weddings
are very different although there might be some similarities. In the paragraphs below I will
elaborate on the similarities and differences.
To start off with, engagement is crucial for a weddingto happen and the first step you take toward
getting married. Traditionally in the Netherlands you propose which means to get down on one
knee and ask someone to marry you. In the Netherlands it is traditional to propose in a nice
restaurant or a place with a beautiful view. This is completely ... Show more content on

In Dutch weddings it is traditional that both parties share the price evenly. While in Nigeria it is
normal for the wedding to be paid by both families together except for the introduction. The
introduction is an informal meeting of both families. This is different because in the
Netherlands the families would already be very familiar with each other. This is because in the
Netherlands the soon to be married would already be with each other for a long time in which the
families meet. In Nigeria the bride pays for the introduction and the groom can help out with the
cost if he wants to. In the Netherlands the cost is usually pretty much always shared equally. In
Nigeria there is also a tradition of showering the bride in money for good luck. This only happens
in Nigeria and not in the Netherlands in any way. In Nigeria people tend to give money as a gift but
in the Netherlands they usually give presents. (The movie: The Mother of George, the article:

Analysis Of The Machine Stops
The Machine Stops is a short, science fiction story written by E.M. Forester. Set in a post
apocolypic dystopian society, the two main characters, Vashti and Kuno, as well as everyone else,
live underground with the help of the Machine. The Machine provides every single person and
their needs, including the air they breath, because the surface of the Earth can no longer sustain
mankind. Not only does the Machine give every necessity to its people, it also provides the Book,
which contains rules to help the people survive. This often leads the people to worship the
Machine as a type of deity. In the book The Machine Stops, which was written by E.M. Forester,
the main characters Vashti and Kuno have multiple differences with few similarites. Vashti and
Kuno are completely different in apperance. When being introduced to Vashti, the book
describes her as a swaddled lump of flesh a woman, about five feet high, with a face as white as a
fungus. (Forester 1). This is a very strong and disturbing representation of a women. This implies
that Vashti doesn t move much due to inactiveness, and also implies that she doesn t go outside
much, more or less because of the fact that she lives underground. On the other hand, Kuno has a
very athletic build. When being introduced to Kuno, we learn that he was sent away as a baby
because all babies were sent away from their mothers at birth. We also learn that Kuno possessed
some kind of physical strength, because he escaped the Machine,

Persuasive Essay On Being A Outsider
Being an outsider is a position that an individual does not fit in with the rest of society. Areas of
society are often called clique at which we feel like we must coordinate our actions to follow
and pleases. Those actions leads to the anonymous question should the outside, those who do not
follow the rest be embraced or rejected. Corresponding with the rights of our world, we are seen
as equal, yet we do not always follow that. Outsiders should be rejected, providing them growth,
individuality through independence and, crucial life skills. Like a seed planted in the soil
growing into a nice tree. Similar to the seed outsiders are born and left to grow. They are living ,
breathing, eating and drinking yet they are not as high on the competition list as others are who
follow the same steps. With that said the seed or outsiders are left to grow while being independent
they from senses of personal goals which allow them to transform their minds around whatever that
goalmay be, possible career, academics or even financial goals at which only make them better and
stronger people. Each of these people begin with disadvantages that could have, and at times did
exclude them from normal society. But each turned their differences into advantages (Clark).
Critics say that the growth is in the wrong areas they should be developing growth in terms of
friends and social rankings. Arguing that starts with the everlasting example of success that is
displayed by the outsider who

Building a Secure Organization
Building a Secure Organization
John Mallery
BKD, LLP
Chapter 1
It seems logical that any business, whether a commercial enterprise or a not for profit business,
would understand that building a secure organization is important to longterm success. When a
business implements and maintains a strong security posture, it can take advantage of numerous
benefits. An organization that can demonstrate an infrastructure protected by robust security
mechanisms can potentially see a reduction in insurance premiums being paid. A secure
organization can use its security program as a marketing tool, demonstrating to clients that it values
their business so much that it takes a very aggressive stance on protecting their information.

In addition, today s computers present a user friendly face to the world. Most people are unfamiliar
with the way computers truly function and what goes on behind the scenes. Things such as the
Windows Registry, ports, and services are completely unknown to most users and poorly
understood by many computer industry professionals. For example, many individuals still
believe that a Windows login password protects data on a computer. On the contrary someone can
simply take the hard drive out of the computer, install it as a slave drive in another computer, or
place it in a USB drive enclosure, and all the data will be readily accessible.
Computer Users Are Unsophisticated
Many computer users believe that because they are skilled at generating spreadsheets, word
processing documents, and presentations, they know everything about computers.
These power users have moved beyond application basics, but many still do not understand even
basic security concepts. Many users will indiscriminately install software and visit questionable

who want to steal information from or wreak havoc on computers systems have also identified that
the average user is a weak link in the security chain. As companies began investing more money in

Extreme Measure Comes With Extreme Percaution Essay
Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of
deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. We have taken the necessary security precautions and are
prepared to do whatever is necessary to protect America and Americans. President George W. Bush
On September 11, 2001, terrorists initiated multiple attacks on America that took the lives of
nearly three thousand innocent people. It was a day of destruction and horror that will be branded
in the minds of many for a long time. The tragedies on 9/11 could have been avoided if airport

For example, before September 11, if a mother and her two children were traveling and running
late for the flight the airport attendants were willing to lend a helping hand. As the struggling
mother and children hurry to the ticket counter the airport personnel help with her bags, quickly
check her in, and ask as no questions. The attendant moves her to the front of the line, grabs her
bag and the baby carrier, and carries them through for her. Nothing is said about the nail file or the
can of mace in her purse. After all, she is a mother of two and she is traveling alone; she is not a
threat.
Those days of helping a mother with two children are long gone. Instead, the government has
attempted to add procedures to airport security that supposedly provides more protection for
Americans. In her essay, Zeltser discusses how people are now examined with a fine tooth comb.
She talks about her brother recently returning from a vacation in Mexico. He was pulled aside and
asked so many questions that he, himself, was almost convinced that he had taken part in illegal

kind to be protective measures?

coming home for my high school graduation. Every year, my brother Wesley flies in from San

The Problem of Obesity Obesity is a major problem in American. Year after year, new diets are

(2001) asserted that, [weight] is a complex result of heredity, culture and lifestyle. According to

They assume that if the number of sidewalks and bike paths are increased, people will be more
inclined to exercise and drive less. However, just because more of these will be built does not
ensure they will be used by the public. They believe the government should impose a tax on food
they deem detrimental to our health, regulate the ways this food is advertised, and limit its
accessibility. However, at a time when both houses of congress are controlled by the Republicans,
a party whose philosophy is they who govern least govern best, it is unrealistic to think that
additional taxes and bureaucracy will be considered an effective strategy. The authors propose a
three step solution to the problem. First, initiate a twinkie tax on sodas and junk food. Next, the
food industry should be regulated, even if it only comes in the form of banning junk food ads
aimed at children. Finally, limit the places where unhealthy foods are available ...through zoning
and planning (2004). The limitations of these suggestions are numerous. Americans feel overtaxed
already, hence the Republican revolution we have seen in recent years. Secondly, people do not
like being told what is right or wrong for them, which is what regulation insinuates. Third, in a
capitalist society, why should any

Evolution Of Football Research Paper

From only college students playing the sport, to having professional teams and players be
watched from all over the country. Football s history depicts the origin of this sport in order to
show how football was played back then and how it should be played. Football was created by a
rugby player named Walter Camp (Gorn and Goldstein 153). He combined the sports soccer and
rugby, then later came up with the rules (Stelzer 1). Walter Camp has been widely and accurately
acknowledged as the father of American football(Gorn and Goldstein 153). Camp explained how

The first professional football league was the American Professional Association, formed back
in 1920 (Stelzer 4). Though that league didn t work out so they gave way in 1922 to the
National Football League (NFL) (4). When the NFL started, not many people watched their
games. Throughout the years they gained more and more spectators. It wasn t until the late
1950s and early 1960, that the NFL became America s leading spectator sport (McChesney 62).
After the NFL reach being big in America, professional football attracted larger numbers of first
rate college players and increased patronage made the league economically viable (Stelzer 4 5).
The NFL also had some competition. The United States Football League (USFL), was a
professional spring league, that would obtain some players from the NFL by paying them a
higher salary (6). Consequently, after three years, the USFL folded, having all their players go
to the NFL (6). The NFL then sought out to merge with the American Football League (AFL) in
1970. The champions from the AFL and NFL would meet to go against each in the AFL NFL
World Championship Game (6). The name of that game was soon changed into what is now
known as the Super Bowl (6). Soon millions of people started watching the NFL on television.
There are different ways to play football. Flag football and touch football, which eliminates much
of the physical contact (Milbert 2). The rules are pretty much the same like regular football, just
that in touch football, a play would end if a defensive player touches the ball carrier (2). In flag
football, a play ends when a defender pulls a piece of cloth, called a flag, from the belt of back
pocket of the ball carrier (2). These two variations of football are safer than normal football, so
younger players can still play without being seriously

Was The Tiananmen Massacre Justified
From my perspective, the Tiananmen massacre of 1989 was not justified. The students and
protestors protested because they had a strong agreement of opposition about their current Chinese
government system that needed to be addressed. They wanted democracy for more individual rights
and freedom. Even though illegal organizations were violating laws such as forcibly occupying the
Tiananmen Square and vandalizing establishments, it does not justify the poor government attempt
to control the riots with fully armed military soldiers. The government, Chinese Communist Party
and the military was suppose to improve Chinas economy and unity, and serve the citizens. Instead
they ended up massacring civilians and fueling the already violent protest (rioters

Themes In A Lesson Before Dying
A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines tells the story of how Grant, an educated black man
in Bayonne, helps Jefferson, a black man who is going to be sentenced to death by electrocution,
become a man by his godmother s wish before he dies so, he can die like a man. In the novel,
Gaines introduces characters who display a changeas the novelgoes on. Many themes are shown
throughout the novel. One theme in A Lesson Before Dying deals with how a certain character s
growth propels another character to change. Gaines displays this theme between Grant and
Jefferson. There are many examples in the novel that support this theme. One example in A Lesson
Before Dying that displays this theme is Grant s attitude and feelings toward his hometown of
Bayonne. In Chapter 4, Grant describes Bayonne to the reader. He says that in Bayonne there was a
Catholic church uptown for whites; a Catholic church back of town colored (Gaines, 25). From the
description of the churches, it can be interpreted that Bayonne is a town mainly built on racism.
One prominent feature in the town that stands out is the slaughterhouse. Grant describes it as a
slaughterhouse, mostly for hogs (Gaines, 25) which foreshadows Jefferson s death. Later on in the
chapter, Grant is with Vivian, his girlfriend, and he tells her, I need to go someplace where I can
feel living (Gaines, 29). This quote shows that Grant wants to leave Bayonne and run away from
there. This may be because of the racism and

The Summer People By Kelly Link
Have you ever been betrayed by someone that you trusted? The Summer People , a fairy tale
short story written by the author Kelly Link, portrayed the characters in a way that be can be
greatly related. Throughout the story, she often used several literary elements, such as symbols,
setting, allusions, etc., to help the readers to understand the moral of the story. The main
character, Fran, was bonded with the faith to be the caretaker of the summer people, and there is
no possible way that she can escape from them. Despite the kindness of her friend, Ophelia, Fran
decided to use her to gain freedom from the summer people. Ophelia has always been truthful to
Fran, even though Fran bullies her during the beginning of the story. As the end, Ophelia was
betrayed by Fran and forced to take over her responsibilities of the summer people. In an e mail
interview conducted by Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts with Kelly Link by the editor, Brian

fantasy or realism or whatever are to entertain, to raise or answer question, to unsettle or to

The United States Will Fight Foreign And Domestic Terrorism
Technology has come a long way since the early 90 s. With modern advances, technology is just
about incorporated in everything we do in our day to day lives. Since technology has been
incorporated into our everyday lives, it may raise some concerns about what may be happening in
the background. One of these concerns would be privacy, we all may take it for granted but it is
our constitutional rights as Americans. But this all changed after the September 2001 attack on the

The September 2001 attacks on the twin towers will forever change how the United States will fight

ethical this program was. But many of them viewed it as an unethical practice and a clear violation

The problem is that teenage girls (who) should not be peer pressured to look thin (what) in today s

look thin. This is mostly due to companies and advertisers putting out campaigns with smaller,
thinner models and celebrities. With the rise of technology, people are becoming more and more
influenced by what they see on television, the Internet, and social media. Teenage girls see these
beautiful, thin celebrities and aspire to look like that. Girls are more vulnerable than ever today
and some will do just about anything to give in to the pressure and try to look like someone else.
What should be happening is that companies and advertisers should use a more diverse group of
woman when putting out campaigns. Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. They should be
embracing the diversity throughout the world and show that off when advertising. This is impacting
mostly teenage girls as their bodies are changing and as they are trying to figure out who they are.
However, this pressure is not just

This would furthermore mean that the company will

employees at each level with some point of control. The control structures will have to be tight
and suitably placed to make sure that internal as well as external progressions are in check.
Control systems have to be very robust so as to make sure there are no gaps which can be
operated by any person.
An additional trouble could arise in case of incorrect data entry. Data entry job is customarily
monotonous and there might be inconsiderate errors by the user who is obligatory to enter the
data. Likewise, fraud detection can be tricky in some cases of automated systems.
Consequently, it can be assumed that automated systems are desirable by the company, which
sorts AIS a very real applicable option.
A new system:
The Pressure Hydraulics Company can establish Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
that can affect the accounting systems of an organisation. Other parameters that influence AIS

What Is The Problem Of Aircel
11. CONCLUSION Aircel is one of the leading brands in telecommunication industry. Aircel
Business Solutions is a division of Aircel which provides premium internet services. ABS is new
to the market and has got only 7% market share. So it has got a huge un captured market which
increases its market potential. Aircel s internet service has got a market potential of 8.359 crore
Rupees, among small and medium firms in Bangalore. This is not a bad case as the company is
very new to the market. Aircel should concentrate more upon the factors like quality of service they
provide and the network speed they deliver, which increases its customer satisfaction. Small and

Video Games, Social, And Social And Emotional Wellbeing Of...
The latest video games, social sites, blogs, and etc. seem to catch most teens attentions these days.
It may be safe to say that parents can rarely find their child without at least one interactive social
media of some sort. Parents worry their child is online for too long, the internet may deprive teens
of social skills needed in face to face conversation, or the internetis a place full of exposure to the
cruelty of harsh harassment from peers, better known as cyberbullying. But with most negatives
comes a positive and the internet seems to be one of negatives that come with a positive feature as
well. These online communities are good sources for teenagers because of the encouragement they
give teens to expand their variety of friends while exploring and learning the necessity of a healthy
relationship.
In all of the articles, Teenagers Leading Happy, Connected Lives Online by KJ Dell Antonia,
Growing up with Social Networks and Online Communication by Robert Strom, and Social
Networking and the Social and Emotional Wellbeing of Adolescents in Australia by Amanda
Bourgeois, the authors argue that adolescents being online is a beneficial thing to growing teens.
Each author includes evidence they collected from surveys taken by the teenagers and test ran to
evaluate the effects of the teens being online. Amanda Bourgeosis, a fellow researcher at the School
of Education, specializing in social and wellbeing of youth, gathers data and examinations from

Finding Deep Meaning Of Film
Finding Deep Meaning in Film As was demonstrated in my analysis of Uys (1980) film, the
techniques used for biblical interpretation may be used not merely for biblical interpretation or as a
means to read literature as an example of the modern parable. These techniques may also be used to
the interpretation of film as a medium of communication. Rosenberg, Lucchesi, Boardman, Vinson,
Flynn, and Derrickson s (2005), The exorcism of Emily Rose, provides a wonderful platform for
examining these techniques as it is fraught with meaning, should the viewer take time to peel back
the layers of the onion. Rosenberg et al. (2005) tells the story of the death of Emily Rose and the
Catholic priest who is charged with the negligent homicide. On... Show more content on

There are many theological themes that flow from the basic narrative if one takes time to consider
them. Beyond the question of the cause of Emily s death, one finds themes that relate to faith and
rational thought, the existence of God and demons, the relationship between faith and science,
suffering and faith, compassion and pain, and submission to a higher authority. While I will not
take the time to delve into each one of these themes independently, I will select a few that are the
most critical to this author. The first theme that becomes apparent is an overt attack on religion.
Early on in the film, we find a group of lawyers talking about who will prosecute the case. It is
stated that, We need a Christian on this, preferably a Catholic. Someone who knows this stuff
inside and out, and who the public will see as unbiased. We re going after a holy man here
(Rosenberg et al, 2005). It was not merely about identifying a prosecutor who was capable, but one
who took attack the faith and discredit the exorcism rite. The courtroom attacks on Father Moore
continue in this vain claiming that his views were based upon, archaic and irrational superstition
(Rosenberg et al, 2005). The Christian faith is depicted as the product of fiction; because it cannot
be rationalized. A second theme that flows from the film is the question of the existence of God
and demons. Peter Chattaway (n.d.),

Tatiana s Sex Advice for All Creations by Olivia Hudson
Tatiana s Sex Advice for All Creations, by Olivia Hudson is not only informative, and interesting
but humorous and revealing. Throughout this book it explains why all creatures, not only humans,
are interested in their sex life. Sex itself, and the reproduction process is why certain breeds are
carried through century after century and others go extinct. Hudson has a way of explaining the
importance of performance, timing, technique, and interest when it comes to sex, and how all of
these concepts make a huge difference in those who have the opportunity to reproduce and those
who do not. She also discusses how important sex is to all creatures because without it, this world
would be nothing. My view on sex and biology changed completely after reading this book. It
shows an emphasis on the physical and mental reasons for things and a lot less on the biological
reasoning. It helped me understand that sex is more important them many really think.
Olivia Hudson graduated from Stanford University and received a Doctor of Philosophy from
Oxford University. She is a well known science writer who has won prices such as the Glaxo
Wellcome Prize by the British Science Writers Association. Hudson is also a research fellow at the
Imperial College of London. She is credited for being able to write about science in a witty manner
without losing the importance of the scientific integrity. Hudson has participated in numerous
science blogs, written articles, and has been in a TV

What Is The History Of The Colorado Labour Wars
1900 s
Colorado labor Wars: The Colorado labor wars were a series of labor strikes in 1903 and 1904 in
the US state of Colorado, by gold and silver miners and mill workers represented by the Western
Federation of Miners (WFM). Opposing the WFM were associations of mine owners and
businessmen at each location, supported by the Colorado state government. The strikes were
notable and controversial for the accompanying violence, and the imposition of martial law by the
Colorado National Guard in order to put down the strikes. A nearly simultaneous strike in Colorado
s northern and southern coal fields was also met with a military response by the Colorado National
Guard. Colorado s most significant battles between labor and capital occurred between

Evolution Of Managed Care And The Forces That Have Driven...
Describe the evolution of managed care and the forces that have driven its evolution.
Managed care and its competition is being viewed to solve their issue on the struggle to control
rising health care costs. Managed care can be defined a system of delivering health services in
which care is delivered by a specified network of providers who agree to comply with the care
approaches established through a case management process. Managed care has a one hundred years
of history in the United States, and it gained national recognition around mid 1970s. The health
maintenance organizations (HMOs) are managed care organizations. There are two categories of
MCOs are, preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and point of service plans
(POS). There are over half of Americans with health insurance are enrolled in managed care plans.
Currently the debate in the United States is in regard to the quality of care provided by MCOs
and traditional fee for service plans. Another major issue with managed care is the use of gag
clauses in contracts amongst the MCOs and their providers. These clauses limit providers from
being more informative to patients about the alternative treatments or the details of reimbursements
for providers. The U.S. health care reform failed in 1994, and it caused a more focused turn to the
marketplace to provide the stimulus for reducing costs.
A few new trends are rising as managed care enters its second generation: dual and triple option
plans with

  • 2. The Noblest Roman Of Them All Sophia Seo Mrs. Rufolo English 9 Honors 11 15 14 The Noblest Roman of Them All Meet Brutus, the man who made the phrase stabbing a friend in the back literal. He kept only the best of intentions in mind when he sacrificed his friendship for the better of the whole. He was considered a noble, naive idealist and patriotic politician by his fellow patricians. Due to his strong passion for Rome, this tragic hero was manipulated to turn against a dear friend. Marcus Brutus battled with his conflicting emotions on account of his close relationship with Caesar, extreme loyalty to Rome, and blind trust. Brutus felt he was caught in an internal battle between fulfilling his loyalty to his country and the friendship with Caesar. Early in the play, he apologizes for being withdrawn and troubling Cassius with his personal grievances. Then that poor Brutus, with himself at war, forgets the shows of love to other men (I.ii.46 47). Brutus s political mindset feared the damage a king would do to the republic while his love for Caesar hampered him from taking action. Cassius asked Brutus if he feared the crowning of Caesar. In response, the distressed patrician expressed both his political and personal opinions. He admitted his fear, but also stated he loved Caesar. He then inquired whether Cassius s intention was necessary for the general good. He would weigh honour and death impartially, but result in loving the name of honor more than the fear of death. (I.ii.78 89)

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act, signed into law by President Clinton on October 28, 1998, was written in an attempt to strike a balance between the rights of a work s creator to receive adequate compensation and society s fundamental right to freedom of information. The current court case and ensuing media battle are accomplishing little in the way of creating real long term solutions to online piracy (Frankel 1). The only way to get to the core of the issue and really understand the Digital Millennium Copyright Act is to get a little bit of a background on copyright itself. Almost three hundred years ago, England was the first country to formally establish the first copyright laws in what they called, the Statute of Anne. The rationale behind establishing the world s first copyright laws was supposedly to protect the rights of the consumer. The Statute of Anne was created with the title of an act for the encouragement of learning, although works, such as books, were not considered valuable pieces of art that should be protected. Instead, they were considered valuable commodities to profit from. When the United States Constitution was first being written in 1787, our founding fathers recognized that everyone would benefit if creative people were encouraged to create new intellectual and artistic works. The framers of the Constitution admired the Statute of Anne and took care to include a copyright clause (Article 1 Section 8) giving congress the power to promote the progress of science and useful arts by passing laws that give creative artists (labeled authors in the constitution) the exclusive ... Sometimes you are faced with a challenge that makes you wanna give up and stop trying but, you should never give up, even at the worst time. The novel Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz, is about a 14 year old boy named Alex Rider which becomes a spy at 14 after his Uncle died and his first mission is to find information about Sayle Enterprises, owned by Herod Sayle, and why they are going to donate hundreds of computers to england. In this mission, Alex is able to enter the building as a teen testing the Stormbreaker but, still has to go through multiple challenges, some easier than others, to find out what Sayle Enterprises is doing. The novel Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz uses description effectively. An example is, Alex hears a knock on the door, it was a butler named Mr.Grin, he told him to follow him and Mr.Grin begins to open a door. There was a green glow as his fingerprints were read, and a moment later, the door slid soundlessly open. Everything was different on the other side of the door. From the art and elegance of the main house, Alex could have stepped in to the next century (102) By using a lot of descriptions, is easier to picture what Alex is seeing and what is happening. Another example is, after alex got caught and punched by Mr.grin and alex waked up His head was thumping and the side of his face was swollen where Mr. Grin had hit him. His arms were twisted behind him and the tendons in his shoulder were on fire. (178) Especially in a book with action and some violence, being descriptive really helps because you are able to see and read what is happening and what they are feeling. Hence, the description used in Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz is effective. Description in a book can make very realistic, maybe too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sometimes misunderstandings are a result of someone stereotyping because of a race, religion or even simple actions. This issue is apparent in Black Men and Public Places . A graduate student at University of Chicago as endured these issues, but has found ways around them. In today s age many people assume the worst without knowing the person first hand and or their actual intentions. The opening sentence states My first victim , I feel as though the word victim has a very derogatory sound to it, but the reader finds out later that it s just a lady whom happens to be walking in front of the large black man. Being a small somewhat vulnerable female I have done the same thing when running, I see someone behind me who I don t know, but I think seems a bit odd I run faster to safety without actually knowing his or her actual intentions. It is even sadder that law enforcement does the same thing, and the person they feel is in the wrong is forced to try and stay calm and defend themselves for doing nothing. • 13. Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs Essay In social work, leaders are in charge of motivating their employees to perform their jobs to the best of their abilities. Sometimes leaders must apply a motivation or leadership theory in order to motivate their employees. (Fisher, 2009) Motivational theories are important for leaders in social worker. One of the most important tasks of a leader is to stimulate productivity among employees. This requires motivation. Employees work in the social work field for a variety of reasons. Therefore, it is important for leaders to understand what motivates employees. The three main motivational theories include Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs, Hertzberg s Two Factors and Motivator Hygiene Theory, and McClelland s Trichotomy of Needs. (Fisher, 2009) Leaders can use Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs to motivate employees. The motivational needs in this theory form a pyramid. Leaders must recognize that employees may be on different levels of needs from one another. The needs at the bottom of the pyramid must be met before the needs at the higher levels. In order for this theory to work, leaders must identify the level of need that each employee is currently facing. The first level of needs is the physiological level. This level has motivators of food, shelter, and clothing. The second level of needs is security. Leaders can provide this level of need by ensuring job security. The third level of needs is social needs. Leaders can provide this level of need by helping the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thomas Hardy s Tess Of The D Urbervilles In Thomas Hardy s Tess of the d Urbervilles, Tess Durbeyfield, who is related to the ancient upper class d Urberville family, describes herself as only a peasant by position, not by nature (239). When Mr. Durbeyfield, Tess father, discovers that he comes from the line of the d Urbervilles, many of Tessfeatures and characteristics are explained. However, while Tess appearance and qualities cause her to appear as an aristocrat, her upbringing justifies her as a peasant. Tess family is financially constrained, her mother holds fatalistic, superstitious folk beliefs, and she is a working woman. However, Tess more intrinsic qualities such as her looks, ethical sensitivity, relational intensity, and aptitude in comparison to her fellow countrymen, present her as a deeper passioned (140) woman of a higher class. Therefore, Tess, both socially and culturally, is essentially a combination of both classes, and she does not fully fit in with either class. In the novel, Tess character, qualities, and position reveal her as both a d Urberville, an aristocrat, and a Durbeyfield, a peasant. When the Durbeyfields discover their noble ancestry, many of Tess qualities, such as her beauty, sensitivity, and intensity are justified. Tess, unlike the common folk she lives among, is beautiful, appears more of a woman than she really [is] (38), and her young features look(ed) sadly out of place (23) in Marlott, her hometown. During those four years people have learned that the four probes known to allow DNA fingerprinting in the human (M13, Jeffreys core sequence, the human О± globin hypervariable region [HVR]) were checked for their ability to reveal genetic barcodes in animals(Georges et al.). Jeffreys core sequence, and the Per probe uses the four different probes(Lippincott). North American Aviation Corporation was granted the contract to build these medium range, single seat, high altitude, multi purpose fighter jet/bombers. There were over 6,000 of the jets produced between the two facilities in Los Angeles, California and Columbus, Ohio. This plane was the first United States jet fighter with swept wings, which allowed it to unofficially break the sound barrier on 1 October 1947. As the technology advanced in China and North Korea the MiG 15 came in to play and was far more superior than the piston engine aircraft the United States and UN forces were flying. One of the most significant things about the MiG 15 is that with its superiority over the P 51 Mustang the United States Air Force had to keep all of the B 29 Superfortress grounded due to the lack of security. The B 29 Superfortress had been a major game changer in World War II. The B 29 was designed for the high altitude strategic bomber role. One of the B 29 s final roles during World War II was carrying out the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After the F 86 Sabre was introduced in Korea, they patrolled the area just south of the Yalu, the so called Mig Alley, in long figure eights, always turning towards the north to keep from being surprised. The F 86 Sabre s and the MiG s were evenly matched. Both had 6,000 pound thrust jet engines, and could go supersonic in a dive. The MiG was smaller, and it could climb higher and faster. The Sabre was faster in level flight and in a dive, had a greater range, and could turn tighter in a fast dive. The Sabre carried six 50 caliber machine guns, while the MiG relied on a single 37 mm and two 23 mm cannon. The Summer People , a fairy tale short story written by the author Kelly Link, portrayed the characters in a way that be can be greatly related. Throughout the story, she often used several literary elements, such as symbols, setting, allusions, etc., to help the readers to understand the moral of the story. The main character, Fran, was bonded with the faith to be the caretaker of the summer people, and there is no possible way that she can escape from them. Despite the kindness of her friend, Ophelia, Fran decided to use her to gain freedom from the summer people. Ophelia has always been truthful to Fran, even though Fran bullies her during the beginning of the story. As the end, Ophelia was betrayed by Fran and forced to take over her responsibilities of the summer people. In an e mail interview conducted by Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts with Kelly Link by the editor, Brian Attebery, explained the style of her writing. • 39. The United States Will Fight Foreign And Domestic Terrorism Technology has come a long way since the early 90 s. With modern advances, technology is just about incorporated in everything we do in our day to day lives. Since technology has been incorporated into our everyday lives, it may raise some concerns about what may be happening in the background. One of these concerns would be privacy, we all may take it for granted but it is our constitutional rights as Americans. But this all changed after the September 2001 attack on the twin towers. The September 2001 attacks on the twin towers will forever change how the United States will fight foreign and domestic terrorism. The implementation of The Program starting on October 4th, was set out to collect massive amounts of data via Internet and telephone records to ensure national security. Many people within the NSA didn t even know about this program because it was so classified. The select few that knew about this program, had several different views about how ethical this program was. But many of them viewed it as an unethical practice and a clear violation of the Constitution of United States. But some of them viewed it as necessary to national security. Diana Roark was one of the few that believed that The Program was unconstitutional and clearly unethical. In the documentary United States of Secrets, Diana Roark was presented with The Program by Bill Benny. • 40. Teenage Girls And Teenagest Pressure From Advertisers To... The problem I am addressing is how to help teenage girls resist pressure from advertisers to look thin. I will be proposing ways to change people s specific attitudes and behaviors that will potentially close a gap between what is happening and what should be happening. The goal is not to educate or increase awareness about this issue because it is a very widely talked about topic. The problem is that teenage girls (who) should not be peer pressured to look thin (what) in today s (when) society (where). What is happening today is that teenage girls have this societal pressureto look thin. This is mostly due to companies and advertisers putting out campaigns with smaller, thinner models and celebrities. With the rise of technology, people are becoming more and more influenced by what they see on television, the Internet, and social media. Teenage girls see these beautiful, thin celebrities and aspire to look like that. Girls are more vulnerable than ever today and some will do just about anything to give in to the pressure and try to look like someone else. What should be happening is that companies and advertisers should use a more diverse group of woman when putting out campaigns. Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. They should be embracing the diversity throughout the world and show that off when advertising. This is impacting mostly teenage girls as their bodies are changing and as they are trying to figure out who they are. However, this pressure is not just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It may be safe to say that parents can rarely find their child without at least one interactive social media of some sort. Parents worry their child is online for too long, the internet may deprive teens of social skills needed in face to face conversation, or the internetis a place full of exposure to the cruelty of harsh harassment from peers, better known as cyberbullying. But with most negatives comes a positive and the internet seems to be one of negatives that come with a positive feature as well. These online communities are good sources for teenagers because of the encouragement they give teens to expand their variety of friends while exploring and learning the necessity of a healthy relationship. In all of the articles, Teenagers Leading Happy, Connected Lives Online by KJ Dell Antonia, Growing up with Social Networks and Online Communication by Robert Strom, and Social Networking and the Social and Emotional Wellbeing of Adolescents in Australia by Amanda Bourgeois, the authors argue that adolescents being online is a beneficial thing to growing teens. • 45. Finding Deep Meaning Of Film Finding Deep Meaning in Film As was demonstrated in my analysis of Uys (1980) film, the techniques used for biblical interpretation may be used not merely for biblical interpretation or as a means to read literature as an example of the modern parable. These techniques may also be used to the interpretation of film as a medium of communication. Rosenberg, Lucchesi, Boardman, Vinson, Flynn, and Derrickson s (2005), The exorcism of Emily Rose, provides a wonderful platform for examining these techniques as it is fraught with meaning, should the viewer take time to peel back the layers of the onion. Rosenberg et al. (2005) tells the story of the death of Emily Rose and the Catholic priest who is charged with the negligent homicide. On... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many theological themes that flow from the basic narrative if one takes time to consider them. Beyond the question of the cause of Emily s death, one finds themes that relate to faith and rational thought, the existence of God and demons, the relationship between faith and science, suffering and faith, compassion and pain, and submission to a higher authority. While I will not take the time to delve into each one of these themes independently, I will select a few that are the most critical to this author. The first theme that becomes apparent is an overt attack on religion. Early on in the film, we find a group of lawyers talking about who will prosecute the case. It is stated that, We need a Christian on this, preferably a Catholic. Someone who knows this stuff inside and out, and who the public will see as unbiased. We re going after a holy man here (Rosenberg et al, 2005). It was not merely about identifying a prosecutor who was capable, but one who took attack the faith and discredit the exorcism rite. The courtroom attacks on Father Moore continue in this vain claiming that his views were based upon, archaic and irrational superstition (Rosenberg et al, 2005). The Christian faith is depicted as the product of fiction; because it cannot be rationalized. A second theme that flows from the film is the question of the existence of God and demons. • 46. Tatiana s Sex Advice for All Creations by Olivia Hudson Tatiana s Sex Advice for All Creations, by Olivia Hudson is not only informative, and interesting but humorous and revealing. Throughout this book it explains why all creatures, not only humans, are interested in their sex life. Sex itself, and the reproduction process is why certain breeds are carried through century after century and others go extinct. Hudson has a way of explaining the importance of performance, timing, technique, and interest when it comes to sex, and how all of these concepts make a huge difference in those who have the opportunity to reproduce and those who do not. She also discusses how important sex is to all creatures because without it, this world would be nothing. My view on sex and biology changed completely after reading this book. It shows an emphasis on the physical and mental reasons for things and a lot less on the biological reasoning. It helped me understand that sex is more important them many really think. Olivia Hudson graduated from Stanford University and received a Doctor of Philosophy from Oxford University. She is a well known science writer who has won prices such as the Glaxo Wellcome Prize by the British Science Writers Association. Hudson is also a research fellow at the Imperial College of London. • 49. Evolution Of Managed Care And The Forces That Have Driven... Describe the evolution of managed care and the forces that have driven its evolution. Managed care and its competition is being viewed to solve their issue on the struggle to control rising health care costs. Managed care can be defined a system of delivering health services in which care is delivered by a specified network of providers who agree to comply with the care approaches established through a case management process. Managed care has a one hundred years of history in the United States, and it gained national recognition around mid 1970s. The health maintenance organizations (HMOs) are managed care organizations. There are two categories of MCOs are, preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and point of service plans (POS). There are over half of Americans with health insurance are enrolled in managed care plans. Currently the debate in the United States is in regard to the quality of care provided by MCOs and traditional fee for service plans. Another major issue with managed care is the use of gag clauses in contracts amongst the MCOs and their providers. These clauses limit providers from being more informative to patients about the alternative treatments or the details of reimbursements for providers. The U.S. health care reform failed in 1994, and it caused a more focused turn to the marketplace to provide the stimulus for reducing costs. A few new trends are rising as managed care enters its second generation: dual and triple option plans with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
