INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT
The ORDER PROCESSING System was first completely manual. Hence, it is
designed in such a way keeping in mind the changes that would meet
the customer’s requirements.
The following are the characteristics of ORDER PROCESSING System
 Referential Integrity of Relational Database is followed.
 Use of menu shortcuts to access different processes is provided for
user having Computer knowledge.
 User friendly prompts are provided for user.
 Attractive windows interface provided by jdk1.6.0 are used for user
interaction.
 Strong and concrete security system controls are used.
 Easy navigation is provided for maintaining proper flow of system.

EXISTING SYSTEM:
1. When the customer reaches the shop, he used to buy cd’s of either
genres.
2. There is an operator who notes down the information of the customer
as well as he takes the order, manually.
3. Once the order is taken, it is processed.
4. Whatever order has taken by the operator now reaches to the customer.
5. Bill is paid after the transaction gets over by the customer. Bill is paid in
cash or by check.
6. The report of the order is saved by operator in the register.
7. Also cd will be delivered to customer within 3 days.
8. Incase of any damage to cd,customer is supposed to return the cd within
3 days for replacement.
LIMITATIONS OF THE EXISTING SYSTEM
As the present system is manual it is often subjected to errors

in calculation or maintains desired results.Following are the drawbacks of the
present system:
1. The present system is completely manual and is carried out with help of
pen and register.
2. Security features can not be provided. Thus any person can see the
undesired details.
3. The current system is very time consuming.
4. No further modifications are possible.
5. Filing work require lot of efforts also it requires lot of stationaries
like registers and pens.
6. It is very difficult to search the detail of a customer or the order detail for
anyone unless he/she wastes his time to search it manually.
7. There may be some manula calculations which may be incorrect.
8. It is very difficult to create the report manually.
9. Accessing voluminous data is difficult.

The current process will be replaced by an computerized system with a
common database connectivity providing efficiency for employees to do
their respective work.
1. The database will contain all details of data which are manually stored
in register.
2. User will be able to find any kind of records and details.
3. User has to authenticate himself to sysyem by means of password,so
security is maintained.
4. The transaction will be faster than the current system.
5. Also system is very user friendly.Help manual is provided.
6. Reports will be created quickly.
7. It will overcome the limitations of the current system.

This system has been developed to be simple and user- friendly. Hence, even a non
- technical user can use the system effectively and without any difficulty.
