Introduction
 Moodle was originally developed by Martin
Dougiamas in Australian, to help educators create
online courses with a focus on interaction and
collaborative construction of content, and it is in
continual evolution; The first version of Moodle was
released on August 2002.
Definition
 The acronym Moodle stands for Modular Object-
Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment.
 Moodle is a free and open-source software learning
management system written in PHP and requires a
MySQL database, distributed under the GNU (General
Public License).
Domains of use
Moodle is developed on pedagogical principles,
used for:
 Distance education, flipped classroom and other
e-learning projects in schools, universities,
workplaces and other sectors.
 Users can download and install Moodle on a Web
server, such as Apache Server, and a number of
database management systems, such as
PostgreSQL, MySQL, are supported.

 The standard Moodle documentation constitute of
several components:
 Online help: is integrated into the Moodle web
interface.
 The documentation wiki: constitute the officiel
reference of moodle.
 The book "Using Moodle". The second edition
(November 2007) is based on Moodle 1.8. It is
published by O'Reilly edition.

 Plugins are a flexible tool set, allowing Moodle
users to extend the features of the site. There are
hundreds of plugins for Moodle, Each plugin is
maintained in the Moodle plugins directory.
October 2016 there are 1252 plugins available for
Moodle 3.1 .
Support and community
 User forums : Moodle community forums are also very
active, in English, as in French.
 Conferences Moodle : There are also Moodle
conferences, known in all countries as MoodleMoot.
 MoodleMoot are events held around the world, focusing
on collaborating and inspiring all users of the Moodle, last
MoodleMoot held in july 2016 in suisse.

  • 3. Introduction  Moodle was originally developed by Martin Dougiamas in Australian, to help educators create online courses with a focus on interaction and collaborative construction of content, and it is in continual evolution; The first version of Moodle was released on August 2002.
  • 4. Definition  The acronym Moodle stands for Modular Object- Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment.  Moodle is a free and open-source software learning management system written in PHP and requires a MySQL database, distributed under the GNU (General Public License).
  • 5. Domains of use Moodle is developed on pedagogical principles, used for:  Distance education, flipped classroom and other e-learning projects in schools, universities, workplaces and other sectors.
  • 6.  Users can download and install Moodle on a Web server, such as Apache Server, and a number of database management systems, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, are supported. Installation

Documentation s  The standard Moodle documentation constitute of several components:  Online help: is integrated into the Moodle web interface.  The documentation wiki: constitute the officiel reference of moodle.  The book "Using Moodle". The second edition (November 2007) is based on Moodle 1.8. It is published by O'Reilly edition.
  • 9. Plugins  Plugins are a flexible tool set, allowing Moodle users to extend the features of the site. There are hundreds of plugins for Moodle, Each plugin is maintained in the Moodle plugins directory. October 2016 there are 1252 plugins available for Moodle 3.1 .
