The paper discusses hybrid transformers that leverage power electronic converters to mitigate electrical disturbances like voltage sag, swell, and unbalance in power distribution systems. It presents a proposed back-to-back converter configuration, simulated using MATLAB/Simulink, that aims to enhance the flexibility and performance of conventional distribution transformers by compensating for voltage issues under varying conditions. The findings suggest that this hybrid solution is promising in improving power quality at reduced complexity and cost compared to existing technologies.
