Meditations
Danuse Murty, May 2009
Buddha’s statue
In this statue I see its origin,
a pure river bed sparkling with golden nuggets,
a pristine rain forest resounding with sounds of animals,
a little earth cavern filled with gemstones.
In this statue I see the poor miners and woodcutters,
and the craftsmen who made its form,
and the buyers and sellers
who multiplied its value in money.
In this statue I see a trail
of unnecessary damage and suffering,
leading on and ending right here.
In this statue I see its causes,
its cessation,
and the way to this cessation too.
Thanks to the Blessed One
beyond all names and forms.
(In memory of Gotama Buddha, May 2009)
Early morning dream vision
A sheet of white paper in front of me,
like a mind at dawn and a brand new day.
How do I use it wisely,
not to waste it and my day?
Insight
Just sitting,
waiting for my body and mind to calm down
to equanimity.
Dependent on actions they arose,
dependent on actions
they will cease.
Rebirth on Earth is a great danger,
the Middle Way
is clearly the best way to live.
Footprints of elders
A globally sustainable eco-footprint
is a good start.
Flower
Just looking at a flower
and receiving its silent teaching
in my mind-heart.
Blue Planet
A living planet,
beyond price.
Peaceful way
From peaceful places and inner peace,
to peaceful life and global peace…
