THE LIONS.
~Devdatta..
THE LION•Lions are the
only cats that live in groups, which are called prides. Prides are
family units that may include up to three males, a dozen or so
females, and their young. Young males eventually leave and
establish their own prides by taking over a group headed by
another male.
•The Cave Lion, Panthera Leo spelaea sp., also known as the European
"Cave" Lion or Eurasian "Cave" Lion is an extinct cat discovered from
fossils and a wide variety of Prehistoric Cave Art. It is one of the largest
cats of all time.

.
• Cave paintings show that they may have had hunted large herbivore
animals, including primitive horses
LIFE CYCLE
The life circle of a lion starts when it is born. At birth, it is normally blind and
is cared for by its mother, who introduces it to the pride after eight
weeks.
• Sadly, approximately 80% of lions born at any one time die before the
age of two due to starvation and predation.
PREHISTORIC LIONS..
• Fossil evidence suggests that lions have roamed the world’s
wildernesses for approximately 1.8 million years, and were formally
the most widespread large land mammal on Earth
• They ranged through Europe, Asia, the Americas and throughout Africa.
