The Leopards won the home opener 12-1 on Friday behind a strong pitching performance from Alex Bernstein and timely hitting. Several players commented that it felt good to play at home after opening the season on the road in Arizona. The team will look to continue improving as they prepare for their next game against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday.
Brent Baier, an assistant football coach at the University of La Verne, has decided to leave coaching to take a position in the university's admissions office. Baier believes this new role will allow him to help more students and be a liaison between departments. The decision was difficult as Baier has coached football for 11 years, but he wants to spend more time with his family.
