QUALIFICATIONS OVERVIEW
I have taught both grammar and writing at the college level. I have done editing work for several
companies. I have extensive experience in secretarial and administrative assistant work. I opened
and ran a studio geared specifically for budding artists and small businesses. I have also had the
opportunity to work at a call center where I was able to learn valuable customer service skills. I
am familiar with major computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and
PowerPoint as well as the Peachtree Accounting System and the T.V Announcement System
called Magic Box. I currently work as an Administrative Assistant, write articles for Good News
Magazine, teach Creative Writing, and do private tutoring in writing as well as Literature. I am a
well-rounded candidate for many possible positions.

June 2014- Present Executive Assistant, Move-In Coordinator &
Creative Writing Instructor, The Bridge at Ooltewah
I have worked closely with the Executive Director serving the company and
the community at The Bridge since the company’s inception. The Bridge is an
Assisted Living Facility. Because I was working at The Bridge before it was
open to Residents, I created the majority of the company’s documents and
forms used on a daily basis throughout the company such as the Menus and
the Weekly Menu Overview provided to The Residents in the Community
and that is used by the Dining Department, as well as the initial Maintenance
Request Forms, and Activity Sign-Up Sheets, just to name a few projects. I
type up Manager meeting notes, plan Marketing events, meet with potential
Residents and their families, and other company sensitive documents for the
Director of the facility. I lead tours of the community to prospective families
and facilitate paperwork for the Move-In process. I answer Resident
questions, and I address and resolve any possible complaints by Residents or
their family members. I answer and direct incoming calls on a multi-line
phone system. I manage the company calendar. I greet guests and medical
personnel. I keep track of Resident contact information and update the
company system with changes in Resident information as well as keep a
Daily Census Report of all Residents. I create daily announcements such as
the day’s activities and menu that are displayed community wide on a T.V
system called Magic Box. I create the Manager on Duty schedule. I arrange
transport for Residents who are unable to drive. I also lead out Activities for
the Residents at The Bridge. I teach a Creative Writing class and lead out a
Tea & Poetry hour.
October 2013 – June 2014 Café Worker: Barnes & Noble Booksellers
I created espresso drinks and other drink specialties in the café at Barnes &
Noble Booksellers. This job position allowed me to hone my customer
service skills. I also cleaned, and organized my workspace as well as product
displays.
June 2012 – October 2013 Café Specialist/Bookseller: Books-A-Million
I enjoyed functioning in a variety of areas at Books-A-Million. I operated the
cash registers, assisting customers as they purchased their merchandise. I
also worked in the café area making coffee drinks for customers, placing
orders for café supplies, and creating new recipes for drinks. I helped
individuals find books, magazines and other merchandise they are looking
for in the store and did some light cleaning throughout the store.
June 2009 – Present Self-Employed: Modeling, Tutoring, and Teaching Dance
I have taught dance at Moon Haven Studio and at Learn 2 Bellydance
studio. I currently teach individual dance lessons. I enjoy tutoring in writing
and Literature for Middle School through College levels. I also have been
modeling since leaving Chattanooga Business Machines. I was the principal
model for a photographic art exhibition featured at The Customs House
Museum, The Tennessee Art League (T.A.L) and The Arts Company in
Nashville, TN. I have also been involved in a multitude of independent
advertising and artistic projects.

I was a jack-of-all trades at C.B.M. I worked in the leasing department. I was
in charge of invoicing, as well as various company memos and emails. I
composed proposals for the sales representatives. I processed incoming
payments and handled customer phone calls.

(This business is no longer in operation) I was responsible for seeking out
customers who had printing needs and presenting them with the various
options they had in the printing field.

I had the opportunity to work in many different aspects of the company. I
was a proofreader/editor. I worked in accounts payable and accounts
receivable. I used the Peachtree Accounting program on a daily basis. I was
in charge of keeping track of employee timesheets and adding up hours
worked. I answered the phones and worked on a one on one basis with
clients and their printing needs or concerns.
Jan. 2005-Dec. 2005 Adjunct English Teacher: University of TN at Chattanooga and
Chattanooga State Technical Community College
I taught Rhetoric and Composition, English 121 and English 122 which are
basic writing classes. My classes consist of the basic modes and aims of
discourse. I help my students use critical thinking as they approach their
papers so they understand the aims of their writing. I also teach
developmental writing, working from the basic paragraph to full essays.
Aug. 2004-Dec. 2004 Writing Center Tutor: University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
This position allowed me to work one on one with students who had
questions regarding how to write a thesis statement, grammar problems,
creative pieces, and so on. I provided feedback on papers already completed
and helped students brainstorm for topics for potential papers.

This position allowed me to work on a person to person basis with
UnumProvident customers who had questions and concerns regarding
disability claims and paperwork. I used basic Microsoft computer programs.
