Mentoring can play a critical role in supporting youth career development and workforce engagement in three key ways: 1) Improving youth employability by providing guidance, career exposure, and helping develop career readiness skills; 2) Facilitating continued academic engagement and achievement which is important for future career success; and 3) Developing important non-cognitive skills for employment like perseverance, motivation, and self-confidence. Case studies show mentoring programs have success in these areas, improving outcomes like high school graduation rates, college enrollment, and exposure to career options. However, more investment is still needed in mentoring to fully address barriers youth face in entering the workforce.

Elevated Aspirations Charity was successful in obtaining funding from Lend Lease (East End Community Foundation) to run 2 workshop based projects that target identified young people whom lack motivation to participate in secondary school education, classes and lessons.
The intention is to link the workshops to larger outcomes in a way that motivates pupils so that they can see and understand the importance of education.

Charles Mtawali is a 23-year old student from Tanzania. He has had two internship experiences, first as a market analyst at Branding Tanzania Limited in 2014 and then as a procurement officer and salesman at his father's company, C.M Company Limited, in 2015. He enjoyed the marketing aspect of his first internship and generating business proposals. While he liked earning a salary at his father's company, he disliked working for a family business. Charles describes himself as honest, hardworking, relaxed, and a natural leader who is driven to succeed through patience and hard work. He dreams of owning his own business conglomerate and helping others achieve success before reforming Tanzania's education system
