The document presents a study on an energy-efficient routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks, specifically enhancing the Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol by introducing an Energy Efficient AODV (E2AODV). The proposed E2AODV reduces energy consumption by up to 80-90% compared to traditional AODV by minimizing unnecessary route request broadcasts and optimizing routing overhead. Simulations indicate significant improvements in energy efficiency while maintaining network functionality during topology changes.
