Hitler rose to power in Germany after World War 1. He was a veteran of WWI and the leader of the Nazi party, originally known as the German Workers party. While in jail, Hitler wrote Mein Kampf which outlined his political ideology centered around antisemitism, hatred of communism, and a belief in German cultural and racial superiority. After WWI, the Treaty of Versailles imposed harsh terms on Germany which increased nationalist sentiment and helped Hitler's Nazi party gain widespread support among the German people.
