The influences of rooting media and hormone applications on rooting percentag...inventionjournals
ABSTRACT : Schefflera arboricola is used as an indoor plant in many places across the world besides the area it covers naturally. Therefore, it is produced intensely. However, it is usually produced through body cutting, which damages rootstock and allows obtaining only few cuttings from a plant. This study makes an attempt to determine the influences of rooting media and hormone applications on rooting percentage and some root morphological characters in cuttings taken from Schefflera arboricola in small amounts without damaging rootstock to the contrary of common practice. In this study, cuttings were treated with 1000 ppm, 3000 ppm, and 5000 ppm doses of IAA, IBA, NAA, and GA3 hormones, and rooting trials were carried out in sand, pearlite, and peat media. The research results show that the employed methods are significantly influential on rooting percentage and root morphological characters, and rooting percentage can be increased up to 75%.

Acute and Chronic Rhinosinusitis, Pathophysiology and Treatmentinventionjournals
This document discusses the pathophysiology and treatment of acute and chronic rhinosinusitis. It begins by defining the different types of sinusitis and their typical symptoms. The pathophysiology involves factors that obstruct the sinus ostia like swelling from viral infections, as well as dysfunction of the mucociliary apparatus during viral colds. Bacterial biofilms in the sinuses may also contribute to chronic infections. Common causes of acute sinusitis are viral upper respiratory infections initially followed by bacterial infections like Streptococcus pneumoniae. Fungal infections can also sometimes cause sinusitis in immunocompromised patients. Clinical diagnosis is based on persistent symptoms not improving after 10 days for acute or lasting over 12 weeks for chronic sinusitis. Treatment involves

This document discusses lung abscess, including its diagnosis, treatment, and association with mortality. Key points include:
- Lung abscess is caused by bacterial infection leading to pulmonary tissue necrosis and cavity formation. Common causes include aspiration of oral/gastric contents.
- Diagnosis is typically made using chest x-rays or CT scans to identify lung cavities. Cultures can identify pathogens like anaerobes, S. aureus, and K. pneumoniae.
- Treatment involves antibiotics like penicillins, carbapenems, or quinolones that are effective against common causative bacteria. Outcomes remain poor for patients with large or right lower lobe abscesses.

Inference of Nonlinear Gene Regulatory Networks through Optimized Ensemble of...Arinze Akutekwe
Comprehensive understanding of gene regulatory
networks (GRNs) is a major challenge in systems biology. Most
methods for modeling and inferring the dynamics of GRNs,
such as those based on state space models, vector autoregressive
models and G1DBN algorithm, assume linear dependencies
among genes. However, this strong assumption does not make
for true representation of time-course relationships across the
genes, which are inherently nonlinear. Nonlinear modeling
methods such as the S-systems and causal structure
identification (CSI) have been proposed, but are known to be
statistically inefficient and analytically intractable in high
dimensions. To overcome these limitations, we propose an
optimized ensemble approach based on support vector
regression (SVR) and dynamic Bayesian networks (DBNs). The
method called SVR-DBN, uses nonlinear kernels of the SVR to
infer the temporal relationships among genes within the DBN
framework. The two-stage ensemble is further improved by
SVR parameter optimization using Particle Swarm
Optimization. Results on eight insilico-generated datasets, and
two real world datasets of Drosophila Melanogaster and
Escherichia Coli, show that our method outperformed the
G1DBN algorithm by a total average accuracy of 12%. We
further applied our method to model the time-course
relationships of ovarian carcinoma. From our results, four hub
genes were discovered. Stratified analysis further showed that
the expression levels Prostrate differentiation factor and BTG
family member 2 genes, were significantly increased by the
cisplatin and oxaliplatin platinum drugs; while expression levels
of Polo-like kinase and Cyclin B1 genes, were both decreased by
the platinum drugs. These hub genes might be potential
biomarkers for ovarian carcinoma.
The study to measure the level of serum annexin V in patients with renal hype...inventionjournals
ABSTRACT : Renovascular hypertension reflects the causal relation between anatomically evident arterial occlusive disease and elevated blood pressure. The coexistence of renal arterial vascular disease and hypertension roughly defines this type of nonessential hypertension. The aim of this study was to measure the level of serum Anti-Annexin V antibodies in patients with renal hypertension. Methods. This study was conducted on 115 patients, diagnosed with renal hypertension and hypertension. Informed consents were obtained from the patients and the study was approved by the Kharkiv National Medical University ethics committee. Ten healthy age and sex matched volunteers were included as a control group. All patients and controls were subjected to the following full history taking and thorough clinical examination. Routine laboratory testing included a complete blood count, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and kidney function tests (blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine). Immunological tests for antinuclear antibody (ANA) and anticentromere antibodies (ACA) was performed by the indirect immunofluorescence technique. AntiScl-70 (anti-topoisomerase antibodies) and anticardiolipin antibodies (ACA: IgG and IgM) were tested using the ELISA technique. The anti-annexin V antibodies titre used the ZYMUTEST anti-Annexin IgG ELISA kit. [Hyphen-BioMed, France.]: to measure the IgG isotype of auto-antibodies to annexin V in human serum. Results. Anti-annexin V antibodies were present in 75% of patients (mean 83.46 ± 22.44 AU/mL) vs. 0% in the controls (mean 3.94 ± 4.5 AU/mL). Comparison between patients and controls as regards levels of anti-annexin V showed a highly significant difference (P < 0.001). Furthermore, correlation of anti-annexin V titres with the disease activity score in the patient group showed a statistically significant positive correlation (r = 0.51, P < 0.05).In addition, the anti-annexin V antibody titres in this study showed a highly significant positive correlation with ACL antibodies (r = 0.74, P < 0.001). Patients with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) have been known to have a higher frequency of anti-annexin V antibodies, and thrombotic events have been reported more frequently in patients with positive anti-annexin V antibodies. Furthermore, inhibition of annexin V binding to negatively charged phospholipids may be an additional pathogenic mechanism of APS.
1. Disabling auto-bidding and setting low manual bids (€0.01) for Adwords campaigns in Italy and Spain initially lowered performance but allowed the specialist to optimize keywords and ad groups.
2. After optimization, key metrics like average cost per click, average position, impressions and sales increased for the Italian and Spanish campaigns.
3. The German campaign saw increased impressions but remained more difficult to optimize due to strong competition; optimization efforts such as broad matching keywords saw an increase in impressions and other indicators while maintaining click volumes.
Physiological and ethological effects of antidepressants: a study using ants ...inventionjournals
ABSTRACT: After having shown that fluoxetine, the active substance of the ISRS antidepressants, has severe adverse effects, we examined the effects of an ACT (anafranil, the active substance being clomipramine hydrochlorid) and an IRSNa (efexor, the active substance being venlafaxine) antidepressants, using identical biological models (= ants) and experimental protocols for comparative purpose. Anafranil appeared to be the less toxic. It reduced the individuals’ activity, precision of reaction, response to pheromones, ‘audacity’, tactile perception, cognitive ability, and aggressiveness towards aliens. It did not impact food consumption, acceptance of congeners, brood caring, visual and olfactory perception. It increased the ants’ ability in acquiring visual and olfactory conditioning, as well as their visual and olfactory memory. Ants developed no habituation and no dependence on anafranil consumption. The effects of that drug linearly vanished in the course of time, in about 28 hrs after its consumption ended. Efexor had more adverse effects. It increased the individuals’ jerking movements, and aggressiveness between congeners. It decreased their precision of reaction, response to pheromones, food consumption, tactile perception, cognitive ability, aggressiveness towards aliens, olfactory perception, ability in acquiring visual and olfactory conditioning, and memory. It did not impact ants’ audacity, brood caring, and visual perception. There was no habituation to and no dependence on efexor consumption. The effects of this drug vanished in 12 h (linear speed), 28 h (sinuosity of movement) and 32 h (precision of response). All the observed effects are either in agreement with those already known, or more precisely described, or newly revealed. In fact, the ACT antidepressants are the less toxic, the IRSNa are somewhat dangerous, while the ISRS have severe adverse effects. Attention should also be paid to the presence of such drugs, largely consumed and eliminated intact, in natural water, impacting then the physiology and the behavior of all the living organisms.
