Games Console
 Games Consoles allow you to play games from a disc
 Each has a games controller plugged in
 These can be plugged in via USB and they can be also connected to WIFI




 It’s purpose is to allow the user to play games
 On some games consoles you can watch TV and go online
 Some consoles can be used as media players
Desktop
   A Desktop PC has a keyboard and a mouse (not integrated), a monitor, and you
    can connect various peripherals such as:
       USB Flash Drive
       Printers, scanners, speakers and mic’s can be connected using USB or firewire.




•       It is typically used in office buildings and for work in general.
•       Has a base unit where most of the components are located.
Laptop
 The purpose of a laptop is to do everything that a desktop can do but with
  limited size.
 Laptops are portable devices
 Keyboard, mouse are integrated




They use mobile CPU’s that produce less heat
They are connected to the power supply by an adapter and they also get
  power from batteries
Tablet PC
 A tablet PC has the functions of a laptop but with a touch screen
 Small more compact size than a laptop.
 You can use a stylus pen
 Sometimes have a virtual keyboard
Computer base unit
 The base unit contains all of the major internal components of a computer
 It contains the CPU, which is the brain of the computer
 It contains the Power Supply
PDA
   The purpose of a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) is to organize tasks
   Has a calendar function
   You can send messages
   They can connect to a network using WIFI or the internet using 3G
   They can run multimedia software
Mobile Phone
   The purpose of a mobile phone is to contact people
   You can call people
   You can text people
   Mobile phones are beginning to have PDA capabilities
   Some can go on the internet
   Most can play games
Netbook
 A Netbook is the midway stage between a PDA and a laptop.
 Its much lighter and less expensive
 Its much smaller than a laptop
 Netbook and a laptop do the same thing but it doesn’t a dvd slot
server
 A server provides service to the user of a
 network
