Artificial Intelligence ,as a tool , is being valued and extensively used by students, teachers and practitioners in teaching-learning and practicing architecture. It has given a new dimension and direction to the profession. Students , faculty, Architects and even non-professionals are using AI for evolving design solutions and defining architecture. AI , as a software tool, is finding universal application in planning, designing, construction, operation and management of built environment, infrastructure and cities. in addition, it is also being used in other facets of human living, working, financing travel, employment, manpower deployment and leisure. It needs to understood and appreciated that Artificial Intelligence, despite distinct advantages, is full of dualities and contradictions. It has both positivity and negativity. While its operational domain remains unending it has also operational limitations. Accordingly, it needs to be used with care and caution. It should be used for making architects and architecture more analytical, more focused , more qualitative ,more environment and people focused. Artificial Intelligence should never ever be used for dictating and replacing architects and architects in evolving solutions for the built environment. The day any profession starts using AI, as a tool for providing ready made solution, profession will suffer grave and irreparable damage. Artificial Intelligence needs to be used for analysis and evaluating certain parameters of site ,structure, services, indoor air quality, energy, water efficiency and for assessing carbon footprints and impact on sustainability and environment but never professional architects and defining architecture.
