How Does Shakespeare Use Jealousy In Othello
In Othello, Shakespeare uses lying and murder to show how powerful emotions can be. During the
play, characters use extreme actions to cope with their emotions. Iago lies to Othello and plots to have
Cassio murdered; Roderigo listens to anything Iago says in order to get with Desdemona; and Othello
decides to kill Desdemona out of rage once he believes she is cheating on him. It is important to note
Shakespeare utilizes both envy and jealousy which people commonly misinterpret as the same. Envy
is wanting what someone else has, while jealousy is fearing that someone else will take what you
have. Throughout Othello, the power of envy, manipulation, and jealousy can be seen through the
actions of Iago, Othello, and various other characters.
Envy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He has no regard for the other characters well being as his envy is so strong. Roderigo is another
character that experiences envy. Roderigo wants to be with Desdemona, but Desdemona is married to
Othello. Roderigo is willing to do anything that gives him a chance to be with Desdemona. Iago is
able to convince Roderigo to sell all of his assets for money, instigate a fight with Cassio, and attempt
to murder Cassio, because his envy is able to overpower his rational thought. The envy of Iago and
Roderigo is what causes the rest of the play to commence. Iago manipulates others in order to take his
envy out on others, while Roderigo is able to be manipulated easily as envy clouds his judgement.
This manipulation is another important aspect of the play.
Iago uses manipulation throughout the play in an attempt to get revenge on Othello and to progress the
plot. He is able to manipulate several of the characters in the play as he is very persuasive. Iago first
manipulates Roderigo as he is an easy target. He convinces him that he has a chance to be with
Desdemona reasoning that she fell in love with Othello quickly, so she will fall out of love with him
quickly. Iago is able to convince Roderigo to sell his assets and help him get revenge

Global Mental Health Issues
Mental health is one of the global issues that have a significant impact on the international community.
Mental health concerns are eminent globally and in every population. There are about 200 classified
forms of mental health disorders, but the common ones include anxiety, depression, schizophrenia,
post traumatic stress, dementia, bipolar disorders, and schizophrenia (Ahonen, 2014). The World
Health Organization (WHO) study shows that about a third of the global adult population suffers from
mental disease, in particular, mental disorder. 25 % of the United States adults are suffering from
mental illness (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Proportionally, 206% of U.S adults
live with bipolar disorder and approximate 2.4 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, it affects the performance of the health care by increasing service demand since most of mental
disorders require complex intervention. Besides, the treatment of these numerous disorders will bring
in a strain within the health care center, thus declining the health services efficiency. Moreover, it
results in crowding out affects within the hospitals as some patients with severe mental disorders will
need to stay longer in the hospital. Consequently, this creates more demand for hospital beds and
related services. Mental illness increases health care expenditure since hospitals incurs extra cost in
hiring therapist, psychiatrist, etc. (Olesen et al., 2012). Besides, the health systems suffer more cost in
organizing awareness campaigns. On the other hand, the CDC is working collaboratively with other
organizations such as Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), National Institute of
Health, and Behavioral Surveillance System among others to establish a comprehensive national
surveillance of mental illnesses. Consequently, the organization recommends an increased monitoring
and management of anxiety disorders across all agencies through the United States (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention,

Henrik Ibsen a Doll s House
In the play A Doll House, by Henrik Ibsen, the convention of marriage is examined and questioned for
its lack of honesty. The play is set in the late 1800s, which provides the backdrop for the debate about
roles of people in society. Ibsen uses the minor character, Dr. Rank, to help develop the theme of
conflicts within society. This, in turn, creates connections with the plot. Dr. Rank s function in the play
is to foreshadow, symbolize, and reflect upon the truth of life and society and to break down the
barrier between appearance and reality. One function of Dr. Rank in the play is to foreshadow events
to come. Upon Rank s introduction in Act I, the reader is immediately given insight into the conflict
Nora will face with Krogstad. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can clearly be seen in what happens after the statement Nora makes about receiving Rank s
calling cards telling of his coming death, That when those cards came, he d be taking his leave of us.
He ll shut himself in now and die (1604). It is with this extremely symbolic statement that the reader
can see the connections between Rank, the death of a society which does not allow honesty in
marriage, and the end of pretending by Nora. Almost immediately after Nora makes the statement
about Dr. Rank, she decides to perform a final examination of her life and lets the letter from Krogstad
be revealed. It is through the symbolism of Rank that the reader sees the deterioration of society as it
was known by the main characters. Another function that Dr. Rank serves is that of reflecting upon the
true personalities of Nora and Torvald. Rank s friendship with Nora and Torvald is thought to be the
same, yet they are independently different. Nora is able to talk more seriously with Rank then she is
with Torvald. This aspect of Rank s friendship with Nora becomes evident in her statement: You see,
Torvald loves me beyond words, and, as he puts it, he d like to keep me all to himself. For a long time
he d almost be jealous if I even mentioned any of my old friends back home. So of course I dropped
that. But with Dr. Rank I talk a lot about such things, because he likes hearing about them. (1585)
From this statement the reader is able to understand

Strange Fruit Ap Essay
Although Strange Fruit and The Summer I was Sixteen have extremely different tones and depict
images that seem nothing alike, they both have an underlying theme of discrimination and inequality.
Throughout history we have seen the bizarre way humans treat other other humans. Acts from a group
of humans towards another can range from violent to more mild, yet still harmful acts. Usually these
acts are based on differences in outward appearance, from the color of a person s skin to the gender of
a person. These two poems portray the idea that racism and sexism can be both blatant and subtle.
In the first couple lines of Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropol the tone of the poem is immediately set.
The tone, as shown in line 2, Blood on the leaves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One signigicant simularity between sesism and rasicosm is the role that they play in classism, a system
our country has has throughout history. Classism is the systematic assignment of characteristics of
worth and ability based on social class. It includes individual attitudes and behaviors systems of
policies and practices that are set up to benefit the upper classes at the expense of the lower classes.
This results in drastic wealth inequality; the rationale that supports these systems and this unequal
valuing; and the culture that perpetuates them. It is prejudice, discrimination, mistreatment, neglect of
or lack of respect for any human and their rational needs based on people s socioeconomic class.
Classism is held in place by a system of beliefs and cultural attitudes that ranks people according to
economic status, family lineage, job status, level of education, and other divisions. Higher class people
are seen as smarter as and more articulate than poor people. In this way, dominant group members
define for everyone else what is normal or acceptable in the class hierarchy. Both women and African
Americans are seen as weaker, less intelligent, and therefore are pout in a lower class

Hurricane Essay
What Would a Massive Hurricane Mean To NYC
In my community of New York City it is unlikely for a major hurricane to hit. It s only happened a
handful of times in history. If a major superstorm hit our city it would be considered a Nor easter. Nor
easters are intense storms that can cause heavy snow, rain and oversized waves that can cause beach
erosion and a low level storm surge and structural damage. The intensity of the wind gusts associated
with these storms can exceed hurricane force in intensity and make NYC very vulnerable. ( What

On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, there s the New York Bight, where New Jersey and Long
Island procedure an upside down L around low waters of the Atlantic Ocean. A bight is a curve on an
open shoreline. When Hurricane Sandy arrived to the bight, it brought loads of ocean water and vast
rain which piled up on its way up the coast. When all of the water hit into New York s Bight, the water
was confined where the legs of the L form. With nowhere to go, water then fell onto the land,
including the southern points of New York City, where the New York Stock Exchange and the Statue
of Liberty stand. Waves from this extra water piled up and formed storm surges of really dangerous
heights. A typical Category 1 hurricane like hurricane Sandy produces a storm surge of three to five

Understanding Multiple Myeloma
Multiple myeloma (MM) is a plasma cell dyscrasia characterized by the proliferation of malignant
cells in the bone marrow (Porth, 2009). Also known as plasma cell myeloma, myelomatosis,
medullary plasmacytosis or Kahler s disease, MM results from the development of a monoclonal
immunoglobulin (referred to as an M protein), a monoclonal immunoglobulin light chain, or both
(Ferreira, 2013). Patients with MM can present with a wide range of signs and symptoms including
bone fractures, anemia and kidney damage or no symptoms at all (Lobban Perkins, 2013). This creates
a diagnostic challenge to clinicians as many of these conditions are of benign etiology (Lobban
Perkins, 2013). The individual variations among patients with ... Show more content on

Patients with increased age, male gender, African American descent, familial incidence of MM or a
history of other plasma cell disorders are all at higher risk of a developing MM (Lobban Perkins,
2013). Radiation and exposure to agricultural chemicals like Agent Orange have been linked to MM
(Kelly et al, 2010). Other risk factors include chronic immune stimulation, autoimmune disorders, and
certain viruses including HIV infection (Porth, 2009). To understand the pathophysiology of MM, it is
essential to understand the concept of B cell maturation into plasma cells that release proteins called
immunoglobulins (Kelly et al, 2010). Lymphoid stem cells in the bone marrow develop into either T
or B lymphocytes (Kelly et al, 2010). The B lymphocyte is responsible for humoral immunity and can
be identified by the presence of a membrane immunoglobulin (Sommer, 2009). There are five classes
of immunoglobulins: IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD, and IgE (Sommer, 2009). Each immunoglobulin has two
identical light (L) chains and two identical heavy (H) chains to form a Y shaped molecule (Sommer,
2009, p. 365). The light chains are termed kappa or lambda and the heavy chains define the five
classes of immunoglobulins (Kelly et al, 2010). Myeloma occurs when there is an overproduction of
one of these immunoglobulins (Kelly et al, 2010). The immunoglobulin that

On May 2, 1982, Michael Connell visited his estranged wife Karen and their son Ward. Karen and
Michael had been separated for more than a year but were seeing each other. A friend of Ward s also
visiting and the four of them were going on a picnic. They never made it. At around noon, Karen
staggered from the house, bleeding profusely from the neck. She collapsed into a neighbor s arms,
gasping that her husband had stabbed her and was still in the house with their 5 year old son and his
friend. The South Pasadena Police arrived on the scene to investigate. After several attempts to make
contact with Michael or the children failed, they contacted the L.A. Sherriff s SWAT team. The ...

To help determine if you have been a victim unaware let s define domestic violence or sometimes
called intimate partner violence (IPV) to determine if you or someone you know or love has ever been
a victim of domestic violence. Domestic violence as defined by The U.S. Office on Violence Against
Women (OVW) is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain
or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. The definition adds that domestic
violence can happen to anyone regardless of race, age, sexual orientation, religion, or gender , and that
it takes many forms, including physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional or psychological abuse, and
verbal abuse.
Type of abuse
To gain a better understanding of these different types of forms that abuse may have let s characterize
the most common ones in detail:
Physical abuse is abuse involving contact intended to cause feelings of intimidation, pain, injury or
other physical suffering or bodily harm. It often includes hitting, kicking, biting, shoving, restraining,
slapping, punching, choking, and other types of contact that will result in physical injury to the victim.
Physical abuse can also include behaviors such as denying the victim of medical care when needed,
depriving the victim of sleep or other functions necessary to live, or forcing the victim to engage in
drug/alcohol against her will.
Sexual abuse is any situation in which force is used to

Battle Of Elsenborn Ridge Essay
The Battle of Elsenborn Ridge was a definitive, but effortful, victory of the Battle of the Bulge. On the
16th of December 1944, the Battle of the Bulge officially commenced on Belgian grounds (Cole 331).
Among its many, devastating battles, the Battle of Elsenborn Ridge remains the most compelling, due
to the unwavering resilience of American forces. American artillery in this battle arose with relative
force, effectively withstanding and deflecting German forces. Victory, in the Battle of the Bulge,
eluded American forces until the fateful Battle of Elsenborn Ridge. This was due, primarily, to the
adaptive repurposing of existing weaponry, and other timely innovations. The Americans established a
rigid defensive line at Elsenborn Ridge, a portion of Belgian territory, which became the fortuitous
target of German attacks on the Roderhohe and Kodenhovel. The Germans were pristinely equipped in
this war and content in their capacity to expel American forces. However, their hopes were tarnished
as American artillery erected a formidable defense on their attacks. The American military mounted a
heap of Pozit fuze shells, proximity fuses, and artillery adapted to diffuse the German forces (Cole
361). These attacks proved highly destructive amid the sight of countless German and American
casualties. Hence, German ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effect Of Communication On The Satisfaction Of A...
Why take another look at communication again? because most studies that have been done, do the
same thing over and over. They use self reports that are coded themselves or that the research will
have the participants code, tons of different questionnaires that take time for the participants to do, and
it is really not relevant for the new generations. With the studies that have been done, almost half of all
first marriage still end in divorce. It looks like the system that we use to study and try to help curb this
just isn t working, because of the measures that are used it just speak to the generation anymore. This
study is different, it will use a video game as the measure to study the effects of communication on the
satisfaction in a relationship. The video game doesn t take much time, and time is very important to
this generation that is always on the go. It is also a lot more relevant for this generation of couples as
well. This study will also be looking at specifically communication in a stressful situation, which the
studies have not covered before. This is important because every couple as arguments and by studying
this hopefully it will curb the amount of arguments in the relationship and help lower the first
marriage divorce rates. There was a study done just recently that looked at whether communication
predicted satisfaction or satisfaction predicted communication? The study didn t really find whether
one predicted the other.(Lavner, et al, 2016, p. 1 15)

Socrates will Refuse the Jury s Decision
During Socrates defense against Meletus, Anytus, and Lycon in Plato s Apology, Socrates states that
he will refuse the jury s decision, regarded as the Law of Athens, if the court were to acquit him on the
basis that he stops practicing philosophy. However, later in Plato s Crito, Socrates explains he cannot
escape from prison due to the laws of Athens and thus adheres to the jury s decision of a death
sentence. Despite appearing to contradict himself, Socrates is actually not contradicting himself at all.
Socrates asserts that he did nothing wrong in regard to the laws of Athens and has never been a bad
example for the youth in comparison to everyone in the audience and jury. If Socrates were to lament
and agree to the acquittal in order to live, then he would be going against his philosophical mission
from god and would be agreeing that he did do something wrong; this is why Socrates testifies that he
would die rather than agree to stop practicing philosophy. Since escaping jail to avoid death would
contradict his ideals, Socrates refuses to disobey the laws of Athens, which he always adheres to, and
decides he will commit to his sentencing despite the fact he is unjustly convicted. In both cases,
Socrates is standing up for his ideals of philosophy and to his notion of goodness, which allows him to
sensibly and honestly state that he will adhere to the jury (and therefore the Laws of Athens) in one
case and is able to refuse to adhere to their judgments in another.

Jainism And Suicide
The Merriam Webster definition of suicide is the act or an instance of taking one s own life voluntarily
and intentionally; in some religions, this is a ritual act ( Suicide ). Jainism is a religion found
worldwide, with the greatest following in India, that practices Sallekhana: fasting until death. Among
the well known suicide risk factors however, religion is not included. An individual partaking in this
voluntary practice is deeply respected in Jain communities but highly misunderstood by outsiders.
Fasting to death as a religious ritual and other methods of suicide are viewed differently amongst
communities based on the function it serves for them. Supporters of Sallekhana argue that physical
death is the only shared characteristic between suicide and this ritual (Shah 52). Included in the
definition of suicide is any act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are there several different explanations of afterlife or lack thereof, some deaths have unclear
causes. One can argue that social pressures such as academic pressures to succeed and the pressure to
conform to societal norms are a prominent factor that leads an individual to committing suicide. On
the same note, religion is a social pressure that can be seen as a factor leading Jains to take the
Sallekhana vow. Martin demonstrates this influence when he states that what we are as humans is a
result or product of the concepts and practices in our societies (Martin 27). In Clifford Geertz working
definition of religion, one of the necessary components he emphasizes is religious concepts being
portrayed as reality: the only way to live (Geertz 90). A religious person may acknowledge the
lifestyle differences of others, but it is not seen as the proper way to live. This aspect of religion lends
itself to social constructionism, and explains the conflict that arises with definitions of suicide and

Hair Investigation
Discussion:
The purpose for this investigation was to measure the diameter of the human hair using the knowledge
of physics of diffraction and interference and the way light waves travel through a medium. The
measurements made in this experiment were done using a ruler, a measuring tape and the wavelength
of the laser beam used. The measuring tape was used to measure the distance from the hair to the wall.
The ruler was used to measure the distance from the centre of the bright band to the center of the first
dark spot which is called the order of minimas. The increasing number of minima corresponds to the
centre of the second dark spot which are arranged numerically in order, such as, minima 1, minima 2
and so on.

These answers can portray the high measure of precision in these results. The calculations above show
that the diameter of the human hair is 93.4 micrometers which is accurate according to Glenn Elert, it
is between the range of 17 to 181 micrometers (The Physics Factbook, 2011). There are varying
factors for the strand of hair such as different people have different hair structures and different genes
which causes the diameter of the hair to differ from that of other people. Another factor is the age of
the person as children are more likely to have sensitive and finer hair, whereas, adults have more
thicker and stronger hair as well as the closer to the root of the hair, the thicker the hair will

Kristallnacht ( The Night Of Broken Glass ) And Impact
Kristallnacht(The Night of Broken Glass) and Impact
Kristallnacht comes the German name Crystal Night. Kristallnacht was an event where Germans
persecuted Jews by burning down their synagogues, destroying their business, and stripping their
rights away from them; these two nights prefigured the Holocaust. The event leading up to
Kristallnacht was involving a shooting. A young Polish man named Herschel Grynszpan found out his
parents were exiled to where he was born in Hanover , Germany. For retaliation on November 7 , 1938
he shot Ernst Vom Rath. Rath lived 2 days after and died due to wounds; Hitler attended his funeral
and that day of continuing the next day . During Kristallnacht many destructive things were done to
the Jews. Over 250 synagogues and 7,000 Jewish business were burned. Any business owned by a Jew
wasn t allowed to reopen. 91 were dead and over 30,000 men were arrested and sent to camps. The
German people made Jews life a living hell and things became harder and harder on the Jews causing
them to be prohibited from certain areas of the city and school. Only the real people and witnesses
know what happened during the period of Kristallnacht. A witness who witnessed and apart of
Kristallnacht was Herbert , Jellinek. From Herbert s point of view On November 10 ,1938 around the

Differences And Similarities Between Stanford Prison...
There are many similarities between the behavior of the wardens in Stanford Prison Experiment and
the behavior of the soldiers at the prison in Abu Ghraib. I think the first and most obvious comparison
would be the blatant misuse and abuse of power. In both instances the figures in authority were aware
of their ability to make demands that their subordinates had to comply with, and they took full
advantage of it.
We see this expressed in emotional abuse that the prisoners had to endure. In both cases we forced to
perform demeaning tasks for no apparent reason. There were a number instances where the prisoners
were forced to be nude and were taunted. In the Stanford Prison Experiment the inmates were teased

GMO(genetically modified organism) is a kind of organism or microorganism whose genetic material
has been produced by genetic engineering. The majority of people are using GMO foods for many
years. Most of the people consider that GMO has more advantages than disadvantages. However, the
disadvantages are more compared to advantages. So, how does GMO effect people s life and
environment? What are the disadvantages of GMO foods? To answer these questions we should take a
look at the reasons for avoiding to use GMO foods.GMO foods need to be avoided because of their
negative impact on health and environment. Primarily, the reason why people shouldn t use GMO
foods is its negative effect on health. It s a well known fact that GMO has serious effects on people s

Dismantling Stagnation Of South America
Dismantling stagnation in Mercosur
Introduction
Before the 1990s, economic integration in Latin America was overshadowed isolation mechanisms
placing barriers between neighboring countries in hopes of developing domestic growth. By the turn
of the last decade in the 20th century, more countries became increasingly interested in the potential
benefits of deeply integrating nations through cross border trading. The countries of the Southern
Cone of South America courageously took modern economic initiatives. Since then, the region has
created mix results of whether their choices have liberated the region of trade barriers or created a
fortress all on their own. In this paper I will be focusing on the customs union Mercosur by detailing
its creation, discussing the critical events which have contributed to the group s stagnation, and
assessing the group s current role in the global economy.
Background
In the 1980s, Argentina and Brazil placed their political differences aside and created a compact trade
agreement to further economic cooperation and stability for years to come. In 1985, the Declaration of
Iguaca opened up the dialogue between the two countries to pursue further integration with a
committee meeting specializing in the economic and industry sectors. The Argentina Brazil
Integration and Economic Cooperation Program (PICE) was later established in 1988 to start a more
modern approach to gradually cut out trade barriers and create a common market within the next ten

Future of Modernization
Future of Modernization SOC/120 May 4, 2013 University of Phoenix Future of Modernization
Modernization in the United States has four traits which were identified by Peter Berger in 1977. The
first trait was the decline of small, isolated communities. Approximately one hundred years ago there
were 40% of Americans living in cities. Today, 80% of the population lives in cities. The next trait is
the expansion of personal choice. Most people choose their lifestyles instead of allowing others to
make that decision for them. The next trait is the rising amount of diversity in the United States.
Interracial couples are more accepted now then it was even 20 years ago. The fourth trait is the
orientation toward the future and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modernization is a worldwide trend, as countries such as Japan and China combine traditional and
modern ways. In Japan they are advanced as far as technology, but there are still few women that are
corporate executives and politicians. In China, contemporary socialist thinking are mixed with ancient
Confucian principles. What took decades or even centuries to transpire in the West has materialized in
a matter of a decade or two in China (The Pros and Cons of Modernization: Cancer in China, Bill
Chameides, 2008). Other countries, such as Mexico and Saudi Arabia, struggle to move ahead
economically because of the respect they have for their religious beliefs. In short, although we may
think of tradition and modernity as opposites, combinations of traditional and modern are far from
unusual, and they are found throughout the world (Society: The Basics, Eleventh Edition, by John J.
Macionis, Ch 16, pg 495). The consequence of modernization is that normal traditions will disappear.
Some fear this will dehumanize our society. Though modernization has been successful with
diversifying our cultures, increasing our wealth, and expanding opportunities, the processes of
transformation ultimately leaves people feeling insecure and dejected. The fear is that their jobs will
be taken over by computers which ultimately will prevent them from providing for their families.

Analysis Of From In A Green Night By Derek Walcott
In Derek Walcott s From in a Green Night: A Far Cry from Africa, the author explains and dives into
the topic of colonialism and self reflection through his own experiences of being trapped between his
Kenyan and British descent. Similar to Fanon s concept of complicity, Walcott also understands both
sides of the story in an unbiased manner. In his poem, he uses imagery to describe the violent past in
which Kenyans and British people have committed to each other, the savage nature of humans during
colonization, and his own internal speech where he himself is confused of his cultural and social
identity. This paper will explore the core concepts of Walcott s writing and further explain it through
Fanon s lens to amplify the meaning of the poem.
To begin, Walcott uses imagery to describe the prominent violence in the history between colonized
Kenya and the British colonists. He quickly describes that Kenya s Kikuyus are not the only ones to
blame in this scenario when he says, Corpses are scattered through a paradise. / Only the worm,
colonel of carrion, cries: / Waste no compassion on these separate dead! (4 6). In these stanzas, it is
easy to see that Walcott is unbiased in his opinion on colonialism. Even though he states that Africa is
a paradise that is scattered with corpses (4), he also believes that the colonists are not the only ones to
blame. This relates back to Fanon s concept of complicity in which two nations with a violent,
apocalyptic past come together to

Teen Pregnancy
Suddenly teen pregnancy IS cool?
1. Teen pregnancy is up partly because there is less of a stigma associated with teen pregnancy since
there is more of a cultural permission to be a younger mother. The rise is also partly due to the
portrayal of celebrity teens such as Jamie Lynn Spears in the media and other cultural shifts, giving
teens the idea that having a baby is the new handbag .
2. The reason the authors use allusion in the first paragraph is to show the readers that teen pregnancy
is becoming a trend amongst celebrities and its sweeping teen culture along with it. Whether or not the
average teen thinks unplanned pregnancy is fashionable, there are numerous celebrity and pop culture
examples of hip, unmarried moms. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paragraph 25 latest accessory in Hollywood protruding bellies .having a baby is the new handbag
The author in the article is comparing the latest style to pregnancy. Media is portraying that pregnancy
is the latest trend and it is popular amongst cool celebrities. The author goes on to compare babies as
the new handbag, making it seem like carrying a baby is like carrying the most fashionable handbag. It
makes teens feel as if it s hip and they should go get one like it s a fashion accessory.
b) Irony
Paragraph 1 I didn t believe it because Jamie Lynn s always been so conscientious. She s never late for
her curfew.
This is ironic because Jamie Lynn is the not conscientious; infact she is very irresponsible. If she was
careful she would have been able to prevent her pregnancy at such an early age.
Paragraph 2 just 16, who matter of factly chooses to have a baby and an open adoption rather than
an abortion. No big deal.
This is ironic because the author is using the movie Juno as an example to Jamie Lynn s situation,
making it seem like teenage pregnancy is not that big of a deal. When everyone found out that Juno
was pregnant in the movie they were very unrealistic about it and not freaking out like most families
would do. However, the readers know that teen pregnancy is a very big deal in our society and there
are a lot of drawbacks that come with it. Most

My Best Friend Essay
I was always scared. My heart would pound and I never prepared for the worse, yet it always came to
that. I was only a little girl, and I didn t deserve this at all, but I still let her walk all over me.
Everytime she said or did something that hurt me, I tried even harder to impress her with different and
exciting ways, instead of standing up for myself. This was my life around my best friend, until
recently. I m getting ahead of myself, so let me rewind a little bit. Around age three I met this amazing
girl. She was someone who I instantly became best friends with. Someone who I didn t have to try
around because we didn t judge each other. Let s call this girl Erica. Erica and I never separated for
anything. We would hang out everyday after school and even danced together at the same studio. I
thought she was someone who would stick with me forever growing up, but unfortunately I was
wrong. First of all, Erica and I grew up together and hung out ninety percent of the time. I was so
attached to this girl, that I couldn t see the true person she really was. And I didn t realize till now that
I didn t even love hanging out with her, I loved the fact that I had such a cool and popular best friend.
I was mostly unhappy hanging out with Erica, and I never knew what kind of mood she would be in.
Unfortunately, she would almost brainwash me into thinking that I needed her, no matter what she did
to me. After a while, I believed her and set aside my feelings to help with hers.

My College English Class and What I learned
The course definitely changed the way I approached writing a paper. One day in lecture you quoted
Ernest Hemmingway saying, The first draft of anything is shit. This changed the way I approached
and wrote papers. I used to start papers the night before, barely look over them and making few
changes. This course encouraged me to outline, write a rough draft and constantly review then
finalization the paper. Peer review before this class I though was pointless because most student
hardly pay attention to the paper and usually wrote good job. The students in the class actually read
my paper and gave honest feedback and ways to improve it. Also to have a teacher read your draft and
give feedback with what is wrong and ways to help the quality of the paper helped greatly. This
English class was definitely different than high school English.
College English class was very different than high school English class. In high school there was not
much emphasis on proper headings and titles. If we had correct name, date and title, the teacher would
not care about the parts such as page number and margins. In high school we read more books but
mainly paid attention to the sequence of events and put pieces of the story together and not go into
detail about tone, point of view or persuasion in the book. High school papers were around 2 3 pages,
but in college most of them are 6 or longer. Citing after a sentence is much more stressed in college
and plagiarism is taken much more

Search For Truth In Letter To The Hebrews, By Socrates
Presocratic philosophers in their search for the truth caught glimpses of Divinity and the truth of
eternal life. This search culminated in Socrates, who through his lifelong search for truth gained an
image of the soul and eternal life similar to the catholic belief of eternal life. In the Phaedrus, Socrates
says that all divine souls go to feast at the banquet (Phaedrus 247b), they climb up and view a place
beyond heaven where there is a supreme divine being. What is in this place is without color and
without shape and without solidity, a being that really is what it is, the subject of all true knowledge,
visible only to intelligence (Phaedrus 247c). In his letter to the Hebrews, St. Paul speaks about things

revelation. By searching for this truth, Socrates caught glimpses of those shadows. Even the truth
which he did reach, it was imperfect. Socrates speaks about a heavenly banquet where the immortal
souls go to feast. When they do that, they travel up, to the rim of heaven. Socrates saw a shadow of
truth beyond the pagan concept of heaven. He could discern a place where the gods went to feast. It
seems interesting that the souls went to feast in a place beyond heaven, but not to feast on food but to
feast on pure knowledge. In this banquet, the god s minds are nourished by intelligence and pure
knowledge, as is the mind of any soul. (Phaedrus 247c). Further, the souls are nourished not by
knowledge abstractly, but by a being that really is what it is (Phaedrus 247d), an embodiement of truth
and knowledge. This being beyond description is similar to Gods own divine revelation of himself as i

where in my body I feel grounded, centered, and/or calm. I need to bring my attention to this area of
my body. Next, move my eyes to the left side of the room and notice how strong the body resource

The culture of India is the way of living of the people of India. India s languages, religions, dance,

How Do You Think the Asian Passenger Air Transport...
The Asian passenger air transport marketplace will stable and growing rapidly.
The latest Airbus Global Market Forecast (GMF), released in December 2010, shows that key drivers
for the marketplace are the replacement of aircraft for newer more eco efficient models in mature
markets, dynamic growth in new emerging markets, the further growth of low cost carriers particularly
in Asia Pacific and Europe, further market liberalisation and capacity growth on existing routes.
In 2010, views on whether low fare airlines would continue to flourish in Asia varied. Three factors
regulation, population demographics, and socioeconomic trends drove this calculus. Although the

Surcharges and baggage fees covered some of this but the airline was conscious that if it loaded on the
full charge, it might find no demand on some flights due to a high base price (e.g. minimum or zero
fare plus taxes, fees and surcharges). To offset this eventuality, AirAsia did a lot to improve operations
and efficiency and also saw the benefits of the fuel efficient Airbus 320 help to maintain its low fares
brand position.
To retain its cost advantage in the wake of the global recession, AirAsia entered into an alliance in
January 2010 with Jetstar, the low fare subsidiary of Australia s flag carrier, Qantas. This was the first
time two leading budget airlines had collaborated in this fashion. The alliance allowed the companies
to explore joint aircraft purchasing, passenger and ground handling services cooperation and the
transportation of each other s passengers in the event of a disruption. Assuming the focus of the
alliance was on cost sharing for services and aircraft procurement, it might prove effective.
AirAsia had played the game very well and had ambitious growth plans to keep ahead of the pack.
Time would tell if Fernandes and his team could maintain the company s position as Asia s or perhaps
the globe s most successful budget airline.

Imagery in Ragged Dick Essay examples
Imagery in Ragged Dick
Imagery plays a big part in the success of a novel. Different writers have different styles. The good
thing about imagery is it makes room for the reader to put things together. The reader is allowed to
interpret the story the way that they like. Ragged Dick , Horatio Alger, Jr. did a great thing with
imagery. While reading the novel readers had a change to envision many things that were mentioned
in each chapter. Algar interconnected the appearances of the main character to his living arrangement.
He also connected these things with the character s attitude.

I input the search term RFID into a journal database and got thousands of hits that s too many to be

California State University in Long Beach found 500 lost volumes that would have cost $40,000 to

Impulsive And Immature In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare characterizes Romeo s character to be both impulsive and

hasty decisions are one the reasons for the downfall of Romeo and Juliet. Despite Romeo and Juliet
both being the heirs of two enemies, they fall in love rather quickly, forgetting hardships that would
come, proving that it s better to think before you act. Before Romeo meets Juliet, he is in love with
Rosaline, so much so that when she rejects him, he mourns for her, acting unhappy and downhearted.
As a result of that, he creates a depressed environment around him as Montague says, Shuts up his

how much Rosaline s rejections affects him. Rosaline has taken an oath of chastity, this plays a big
role in his sadness as this leaves her uncharmed by Romeo, making her, in strong proof of chastity

Campus Carry Laws Will Allow Law Abiding Citizens
College is a time of rapid change in a young person s life, it can be many things but most importantly
it is a time where students start to truly grow into their academic abilities. All students deserve an
equal chance to grow in a safe learning environment, but this is not always possible as our culture has
become more violent in recent years. Campus carry laws will allow law abiding citizens to protect
themselves in a sacred institution, which has seen significant rises in violence in recent years. Not
every tragedy is preventable, but allowing a person who has a permit to carry their weapon at school
can prevent future massacres.
Although every state has different laws stating their views about having guns on campus, there is one
thing in common among states that allow guns at schools: those who do carry must do so with the
utmost awareness One such responsible person is Huyler Marsh, who is a competitive target shooter
and is one of the few students who has decided to carry at the University of Texas. He believes that he
should be able to be responsible for his own safety and not have to rely on others. Albeit states like
Texas do not require a permit to carry a weapon, other places do such as Colorado and Idaho among
several others; requirements vary by state but all applicants must prove they are both mentally
competent and physically capable of properly handling a gun as well as multiple background checks.

freebie booklets and tracts. The main goal of this table will be to talk about Good News Clubs, we will

Analyzing The Story Who Will Light Incense When Mothers...
In the story Who Will Light Incense When Mothers Gone? the author has created multiple themes or
ways to interpret the purpose behind the story. Lam says, She turns 70 but she remains a vivacious
woman her hair is still mostly black, there is still a girlish twang in her laughter, and her eyes twinkle
at the telling of a joke (Lam). The way the author speaks about Mrs. Lam, using such vivid language
shows that he takes time to appreciate the person she is and how she lights the room up. Showing so

called upon the student must than go back through the notes they took during class and find the
answer. But what if the notes were not written down correctly? Than that student has just answered the
question on the next test incorrectly because of inadequate communication of the school system. How
is a Vietnam student supposed to have a reasonable career if the countries school system is failing
them. However, just as the Lam family has done, moving to America will allow a strong and more
improved education for a levelheaded career. This is also known to be considered the American Dream
way of

  • 2. How Does Shakespeare Use Jealousy In Othello In Othello, Shakespeare uses lying and murder to show how powerful emotions can be. During the play, characters use extreme actions to cope with their emotions. Iago lies to Othello and plots to have Cassio murdered; Roderigo listens to anything Iago says in order to get with Desdemona; and Othello decides to kill Desdemona out of rage once he believes she is cheating on him. It is important to note Shakespeare utilizes both envy and jealousy which people commonly misinterpret as the same. Envy is wanting what someone else has, while jealousy is fearing that someone else will take what you have. Throughout Othello, the power of envy, manipulation, and jealousy can be seen through the actions of Iago, Othello, and various other characters. Envy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has no regard for the other characters well being as his envy is so strong. Roderigo is another character that experiences envy. Roderigo wants to be with Desdemona, but Desdemona is married to Othello. Roderigo is willing to do anything that gives him a chance to be with Desdemona. Iago is able to convince Roderigo to sell all of his assets for money, instigate a fight with Cassio, and attempt to murder Cassio, because his envy is able to overpower his rational thought. The envy of Iago and Roderigo is what causes the rest of the play to commence. Iago manipulates others in order to take his envy out on others, while Roderigo is able to be manipulated easily as envy clouds his judgement. This manipulation is another important aspect of the play. Iago uses manipulation throughout the play in an attempt to get revenge on Othello and to progress the plot. Mental health concerns are eminent globally and in every population. There are about 200 classified forms of mental health disorders, but the common ones include anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, post traumatic stress, dementia, bipolar disorders, and schizophrenia (Ahonen, 2014). The World Health Organization (WHO) study shows that about a third of the global adult population suffers from mental disease, in particular, mental disorder. 25 % of the United States adults are suffering from mental illness (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Consequently, this creates more demand for hospital beds and related services. Mental illness increases health care expenditure since hospitals incurs extra cost in hiring therapist, psychiatrist, etc. (Olesen et al., 2012). Besides, the health systems suffer more cost in organizing awareness campaigns. • 5. Henrik Ibsen a Doll s House In the play A Doll House, by Henrik Ibsen, the convention of marriage is examined and questioned for its lack of honesty. The play is set in the late 1800s, which provides the backdrop for the debate about roles of people in society. Ibsen uses the minor character, Dr. Rank, to help develop the theme of conflicts within society. This, in turn, creates connections with the plot. Dr. Rank s function in the play is to foreshadow, symbolize, and reflect upon the truth of life and society and to break down the barrier between appearance and reality. One function of Dr. Rank in the play is to foreshadow events to come. Upon Rank s introduction in Act I, the reader is immediately given insight into the conflict Nora will face with Krogstad. ... This can clearly be seen in what happens after the statement Nora makes about receiving Rank s calling cards telling of his coming death, That when those cards came, he d be taking his leave of us. He ll shut himself in now and die (1604). It is with this extremely symbolic statement that the reader can see the connections between Rank, the death of a society which does not allow honesty in marriage, and the end of pretending by Nora. Almost immediately after Nora makes the statement about Dr. Rank, she decides to perform a final examination of her life and lets the letter from Krogstad be revealed. It is through the symbolism of Rank that the reader sees the deterioration of society as it was known by the main characters. Another function that Dr. Rank serves is that of reflecting upon the true personalities of Nora and Torvald. Rank s friendship with Nora and Torvald is thought to be the same, yet they are independently different. Nora is able to talk more seriously with Rank then she is with Torvald. This aspect of Rank s friendship with Nora becomes evident in her statement: You see, Torvald loves me beyond words, and, as he puts it, he d like to keep me all to himself. For a long time he d almost be jealous if I even mentioned any of my old friends back home. So of course I dropped that. But with Dr. Rank I talk a lot about such things, because he likes hearing about them. (1585) From this statement the reader is able to understand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout history we have seen the bizarre way humans treat other other humans. Acts from a group of humans towards another can range from violent to more mild, yet still harmful acts. Usually these acts are based on differences in outward appearance, from the color of a person s skin to the gender of a person. Also known as plasma cell myeloma, myelomatosis, medullary plasmacytosis or Kahler s disease, MM results from the development of a monoclonal immunoglobulin (referred to as an M protein), a monoclonal immunoglobulin light chain, or both (Ferreira, 2013). Patients with MM can present with a wide range of signs and symptoms including bone fractures, anemia and kidney damage or no symptoms at all (Lobban Perkins, 2013). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Patients with increased age, male gender, African American descent, familial incidence of MM or a history of other plasma cell disorders are all at higher risk of a developing MM (Lobban Perkins, 2013). Radiation and exposure to agricultural chemicals like Agent Orange have been linked to MM (Kelly et al, 2010). Other risk factors include chronic immune stimulation, autoimmune disorders, and certain viruses including HIV infection (Porth, 2009). To understand the pathophysiology of MM, it is essential to understand the concept of B cell maturation into plasma cells that release proteins called immunoglobulins (Kelly et al, 2010). Lymphoid stem cells in the bone marrow develop into either T or B lymphocytes (Kelly et al, 2010). The B lymphocyte is responsible for humoral immunity and can be identified by the presence of a membrane immunoglobulin (Sommer, 2009). There are five classes of immunoglobulins: IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD, and IgE (Sommer, 2009). Each immunoglobulin has two identical light (L) chains and two identical heavy (H) chains to form a Y shaped molecule (Sommer, 2009, p. 365). The light chains are termed kappa or lambda and the heavy chains define the five classes of immunoglobulins (Kelly et al, 2010). Myeloma occurs when there is an overproduction of one of these immunoglobulins (Kelly et al, 2010). The immunoglobulin that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Socrates will Refuse the Jury s Decision During Socrates defense against Meletus, Anytus, and Lycon in Plato s Apology, Socrates states that he will refuse the jury s decision, regarded as the Law of Athens, if the court were to acquit him on the basis that he stops practicing philosophy. However, later in Plato s Crito, Socrates explains he cannot escape from prison due to the laws of Athens and thus adheres to the jury s decision of a death sentence. Despite appearing to contradict himself, Socrates is actually not contradicting himself at all. Socrates asserts that he did nothing wrong in regard to the laws of Athens and has never been a bad example for the youth in comparison to everyone in the audience and jury. If Socrates were to lament and agree to the acquittal in order to live, then he would be going against his philosophical mission from god and would be agreeing that he did do something wrong; this is why Socrates testifies that he would die rather than agree to stop practicing philosophy. Since escaping jail to avoid death would contradict his ideals, Socrates refuses to disobey the laws of Athens, which he always adheres to, and decides he will commit to his sentencing despite the fact he is unjustly convicted. In both cases, Socrates is standing up for his ideals of philosophy and to his notion of goodness, which allows him to sensibly and honestly state that he will adhere to the jury (and therefore the Laws of Athens) in one case and is able to refuse to adhere to their judgments in another. ... Martin demonstrates this influence when he states that what we are as humans is a result or product of the concepts and practices in our societies (Martin 27). In Clifford Geertz working definition of religion, one of the necessary components he emphasizes is religious concepts being portrayed as reality: the only way to live (Geertz 90). In China, contemporary socialist thinking are mixed with ancient Confucian principles. What took decades or even centuries to transpire in the West has materialized in a matter of a decade or two in China (The Pros and Cons of Modernization: Cancer in China, Bill Chameides, 2008). Other countries, such as Mexico and Saudi Arabia, struggle to move ahead economically because of the respect they have for their religious beliefs. In short, although we may think of tradition and modernity as opposites, combinations of traditional and modern are far from unusual, and they are found throughout the world (Society: The Basics, Eleventh Edition, by John J. Macionis, Ch 16, pg 495). The consequence of modernization is that normal traditions will disappear. Some fear this will dehumanize our society. Though modernization has been successful with diversifying our cultures, increasing our wealth, and expanding opportunities, the processes of transformation ultimately leaves people feeling insecure and dejected. The fear is that their jobs will be taken over by computers which ultimately will prevent them from providing for their families. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Analysis Of From In A Green Night By Derek Walcott In Derek Walcott s From in a Green Night: A Far Cry from Africa, the author explains and dives into the topic of colonialism and self reflection through his own experiences of being trapped between his Kenyan and British descent. Similar to Fanon s concept of complicity, Walcott also understands both sides of the story in an unbiased manner. In his poem, he uses imagery to describe the violent past in which Kenyans and British people have committed to each other, the savage nature of humans during colonization, and his own internal speech where he himself is confused of his cultural and social identity. This paper will explore the core concepts of Walcott s writing and further explain it through Fanon s lens to amplify the meaning of the poem. To begin, Walcott uses imagery to describe the prominent violence in the history between colonized Kenya and the British colonists. He quickly describes that Kenya s Kikuyus are not the only ones to blame in this scenario when he says, Corpses are scattered through a paradise. / Only the worm, colonel of carrion, cries: / Waste no compassion on these separate dead! (4 6). In these stanzas, it is easy to see that Walcott is unbiased in his opinion on colonialism. Even though he states that Africa is a paradise that is scattered with corpses (4), he also believes that the colonists are not the only ones to blame. This relates back to Fanon s concept of complicity in which two nations with a violent, apocalyptic past come together to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Teen Pregnancy Suddenly teen pregnancy IS cool? 1. Teen pregnancy is up partly because there is less of a stigma associated with teen pregnancy since there is more of a cultural permission to be a younger mother. The rise is also partly due to the portrayal of celebrity teens such as Jamie Lynn Spears in the media and other cultural shifts, giving teens the idea that having a baby is the new handbag . 2. The reason the authors use allusion in the first paragraph is to show the readers that teen pregnancy is becoming a trend amongst celebrities and its sweeping teen culture along with it. Paragraph 25 latest accessory in Hollywood protruding bellies .having a baby is the new handbag The author in the article is comparing the latest style to pregnancy. Media is portraying that pregnancy is the latest trend and it is popular amongst cool celebrities. The author goes on to compare babies as the new handbag, making it seem like carrying a baby is like carrying the most fashionable handbag. It makes teens feel as if it s hip and they should go get one like it s a fashion accessory. b) Irony Paragraph 1 I didn t believe it because Jamie Lynn s always been so conscientious. She s never late for her curfew. This is ironic because Jamie Lynn is the not conscientious; infact she is very irresponsible. If she was careful she would have been able to prevent her pregnancy at such an early age. Paragraph 2 just 16, who matter of factly chooses to have a baby and an open adoption rather than an abortion. No big deal. This is ironic because the author is using the movie Juno as an example to Jamie Lynn s situation, making it seem like teenage pregnancy is not that big of a deal. When everyone found out that Juno was pregnant in the movie they were very unrealistic about it and not freaking out like most families would do. However, the readers know that teen pregnancy is a very big deal in our society and there are a lot of drawbacks that come with it. Most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was only a little girl, and I didn t deserve this at all, but I still let her walk all over me. Everytime she said or did something that hurt me, I tried even harder to impress her with different and exciting ways, instead of standing up for myself. This was my life around my best friend, until recently. I m getting ahead of myself, so let me rewind a little bit. Around age three I met this amazing girl. She was someone who I instantly became best friends with. Someone who I didn t have to try around because we didn t judge each other. Let s call this girl Erica. Erica and I never separated for anything. We would hang out everyday after school and even danced together at the same studio. I thought she was someone who would stick with me forever growing up, but unfortunately I was wrong. First of all, Erica and I grew up together and hung out ninety percent of the time. I was so attached to this girl, that I couldn t see the true person she really was. And I didn t realize till now that I didn t even love hanging out with her, I loved the fact that I had such a cool and popular best friend. I was mostly unhappy hanging out with Erica, and I never knew what kind of mood she would be in. One day in lecture you quoted Ernest Hemmingway saying, The first draft of anything is shit. This changed the way I approached and wrote papers. I used to start papers the night before, barely look over them and making few changes. This course encouraged me to outline, write a rough draft and constantly review then finalization the paper. Peer review before this class I though was pointless because most student hardly pay attention to the paper and usually wrote good job. The students in the class actually read my paper and gave honest feedback and ways to improve it. Also to have a teacher read your draft and give feedback with what is wrong and ways to help the quality of the paper helped greatly. This English class was definitely different than high school English. College English class was very different than high school English class. In high school there was not much emphasis on proper headings and titles. If we had correct name, date and title, the teacher would not care about the parts such as page number and margins. In high school we read more books but mainly paid attention to the sequence of events and put pieces of the story together and not go into detail about tone, point of view or persuasion in the book. This search culminated in Socrates, who through his lifelong search for truth gained an image of the soul and eternal life similar to the catholic belief of eternal life. In the Phaedrus, Socrates says that all divine souls go to feast at the banquet (Phaedrus 247b), they climb up and view a place beyond heaven where there is a supreme divine being. What is in this place is without color and without shape and without solidity, a being that really is what it is, the subject of all true knowledge, visible only to intelligence (Phaedrus 247c). Socrates saw a shadow of truth beyond the pagan concept of heaven. He could discern a place where the gods went to feast. It seems interesting that the souls went to feast in a place beyond heaven, but not to feast on food but to feast on pure knowledge. In this banquet, the god s minds are nourished by intelligence and pure knowledge, as is the mind of any soul. (Phaedrus 247c). The latest Airbus Global Market Forecast (GMF), released in December 2010, shows that key drivers for the marketplace are the replacement of aircraft for newer more eco efficient models in mature markets, dynamic growth in new emerging markets, the further growth of low cost carriers particularly in Asia Pacific and Europe, further market liberalisation and capacity growth on existing routes. To offset this eventuality, AirAsia did a lot to improve operations and efficiency and also saw the benefits of the fuel efficient Airbus 320 help to maintain its low fares brand position. To retain its cost advantage in the wake of the global recession, AirAsia entered into an alliance in January 2010 with Jetstar, the low fare subsidiary of Australia s flag carrier, Qantas. This was the first time two leading budget airlines had collaborated in this fashion. The alliance allowed the companies to explore joint aircraft purchasing, passenger and ground handling services cooperation and the transportation of each other s passengers in the event of a disruption. Assuming the focus of the alliance was on cost sharing for services and aircraft procurement, it might prove effective. Campus Carry Laws Will Allow Law Abiding Citizens College is a time of rapid change in a young person s life, it can be many things but most importantly it is a time where students start to truly grow into their academic abilities. All students deserve an equal chance to grow in a safe learning environment, but this is not always possible as our culture has become more violent in recent years. Campus carry laws will allow law abiding citizens to protect themselves in a sacred institution, which has seen significant rises in violence in recent years. Not every tragedy is preventable, but allowing a person who has a permit to carry their weapon at school can prevent future massacres. Although every state has different laws stating their views about having guns on campus, there is one thing in common among states that allow guns at schools: those who do carry must do so with the utmost awareness One such responsible person is Huyler Marsh, who is a competitive target shooter and is one of the few students who has decided to carry at the University of Texas.
