How Should Immigrants Change Their Names
Immigrants changing their name Names are given by parents before or after children are born, and the
names can vary depending on the ethnic group or culture that the person belongs to. Many people
from all around the world immigrate to the United States every year, and one method that some of
them use to fit in better into the American society is changing their names, which most of the time
works. Immigrants that want to fit into American society should change their names because it can
improve their labour market chances, and they could prevent discrimination. First of all, changing
their names will give immigrants more employment opportunities. Based on an article from
theglobeandmail.com, English speaking employers are about 40% more likely to choose to interview a
job applicant with an English sounding name than someone with a foreign name even if both
candidates have identical education, skills and work histories. This means that if immigrants change
their names for an American name, they will have higher possibilities of getting a job interview every
time they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By changing their names to a name more Americanized, immigrants can avoid people making fun of
their names just because of the way it sounds. Studies show that most people tend to make fun of
something when they are not used to seeing or hearing it. Consequently, this lead many immigrants to
make the decision of changing their names in order to prevent people from laughing every time they
say their names. In addition to that, changing their names would also help immigrants to avoid follow
up questions after they tell their names to someone. Most of the time, when immigrants make a phone
call and the have to give their names out, the other person ask them to repeated on more time or to
spell it out, and that is not something immigrants feel comfortable

The Final Lines From Beowulf s Speech
Consider the final lines from Beowulf s speech when he asks Hrothgar for permission to fight Grendel
(ll. 440 455). In these final lines Beowulf envisions the scene of Grendel s victory. How does our
translation use alliteration, assonance, and compound words to make vivid the nature of Grendel, the
devastating effects of that possible victory, and the necessary acceptance of God s will and the
working of fate? S2 Answer #1 Beowulf:
Our translation almost seems to create key words in the lines that contain alliteration and assonance.
Examples such as fight with the fiend (440), frenzy fouling (449), or fear on that flower (444) add a
sense of drama and heightened awareness to the lines because of their bold, descriptive ... Show more

For example, the compound moor nest (450) is much stronger than simply nest because the moor
evokes images of wild, uncultivated land; Grendel is as uncultivated as the land.
2. Consider carefully the cross s narrative in The Dream of the Rood. How does the cross s narrative
adhere to Anglo Saxon notions of heroism in its depiction of the crucifixion? How does the cross s
narrative deviate from Anglo Saxon notions of heroism in its depiction of the crucifixion? In
answering this question, please refer to the Anglo Saxon notions of heroism discussed in class. I m not
listing particular formal and stylistic devices because those of you with the 8th edition have a different
translation than those of you with the 9th edition, but you will need to select key formal and stylistic
devices in order to provide evidence for your claims.
Answer #2 The Dream of the Rood:
The cross s narrative in The Dream of the Rood adhered to Anglo Saxon notions of heroism because
Jesus is depicted as a triumphant hero that defeats human sin which is startlingly unlike the actual
Biblical account. Essentially, poets in the Middle Ages put Jesus into the most popular box of the time,
the warrior box, in order to appeal to Pagans. Regardless, Anglo Saxon heroes were aggressive,
violent, and hypermasculine so Christ inherently subverts being a perfect Anglo Saxon hero because

Victoria s Secret History
Starting from the First World War, women had to take up the role of the men. This change, drove a
revolution in the undergarment manufacturing, since it required a more comfortable and easy to wear
material for the brassieres. In the 1930s brassieres were revolutionized with the introduction of cups
with filling materials to make women s breasts look more shapely. And three years later, bras with
bulged bustling shape were introduced for women with smaller breasts. In the 20th century,
undergarments had a huge change, it became more fitting and smaller. Frederick s of Hollywood was
the most representative of the glamorization of the lingerie. The lingerie industry was explored in the
21st century when it was designed as an outerwear. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

department stores. In the year 1986, Victoria s Secret became the only national chain of lingerie stores.
From 1982 to 1986, Victoria s Secret stores increased from 4 stores to 100 stores. During that time,
news spoke highly of Victoria s Secret s business (their extension and mail order catalogs were

John Charles Fields Essay
John Charles Fields
John Charles Fields is perhaps one of the most famous Canadian Mathematicians of all time. He was
born on May 14, 1863 in Hamilton Ontario, and died August 9, 1932 in Toronto, Ontario (Young,
1998). He graduated from the University of Toronto at the age of 21 with a B.A in Mathematics and
went on to get his Ph.D. at John Hopkins University in 1887. Fields was very interested to study at
John Hopkins University because apparently it was the only university in North America which really
stressed research at the time (Fields Institute, n.d.). Fields did original research in the theory of
algebraic functions that was influenced by his reknowned mentors, Fuchs, Schwarz, Frobenius and
Plank (Fields Medal, n.d.). After two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think it is great to know that one of the greatest mathematicians of all time is Canadian, because
most famous mathematicians are of European decent.
I think Fields lived a very interesting and dynamic life; he had a chance to pursue his dream of
research in mathematics and got to become lifelong friends with the famous mathematician Gosta
Mittag Leffler. As opposed to Alfred Nobel, Fields understood the importance of research in
mathematics and he did his best to support it and promote it. I think that is the reason why John
Charles Fields was able to take mathematics to a new level, because he was so dedicated and
passionate about his work.
Mathematics is used in many widely different contexts and it is used everyday, although most people
don t recognize that and I believe that the creation of the Fields medal was big step in the
mathematical universe. In January 1932, Fields indicated that the idea of the medal had the support of
the major mathematical societies of France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the United States, and he
also outlined the principles behind the proposed medal (Fields Institute, n.d). The first Fields medal
was awarded in Oslo in 1936. I think the implementation of the Fields medal was a great idea because
it served as a reward for outstanding mathematicians and it made mathematics more recognized
around the world.
Other than the Fields medal, I feel the creation of

The most first people came to live in Canada were the Inuit and First Nation Peoples. The 1st
Europeans to achieve the nation were likely the Vikings and it is trusted that Norse traveler Leif
Eriksson drove them to the bank of Labrador or Nova Scotia in 1000 C.E.
The French People came to live in Canada in 1541 but they officially settled down there in 1604.

Observation Of The Half Crabs
Observations The half crabs moved much slower in the minimum light environment. Their movements
would be intermittent, and interestingly the half crabs would wander around the centre of the bowl. In
contrast, the half crabs would continuously run in circles around the edges of the bowl in the moderate
and maximum light environments. Both behavioural patterns were observed over the two days and
across the two different groups of half crabs. Conclusion My results showed that the half crabs would
travel a further distance when subject to higher light intensities (such as the maximum light
environment) whereas the half crabs would travel a lesser distance when subject to lower light
intensities (such as the minimum light environment). This proved my hypothesis to be correct as I
predicted that the half crabs will move more quickly when subject to higher light intensities as a
negative phototactic response. Discussion A taxis (plural term taxes) is an innate response in which a
cell or an entire organism responds to an external directional stimulus. A phototactic response would
be a directional response to light sensitivity, therefore a negative phototactic response would cause a
cell or organism to respond my moving away from an external light source. In the half crab, a negative
phototactic response would mean that the crabs instinctively move away from light to seek shade. A
negative phototactic response would allow the crabs to find shelter, which offers them protection

Alcohol COnsumption and the Risk of Dementia
Alcohol has been considered by many to be a powerful, and sometimes deadly, drug. It is often
created during the breakdown process of sugar into ethanol and carbon dioxide during the
fermentation of fruits or grain. The consumption of this substance has been restricted by age in most
countries, as it has been linked to the harm of the kidneys, brain, and other parts of the human body.
Alcohol has been a large presence in the media for centuries, mainly due to its sometimes damaging
effects on consumers. However, there are those who believe that consuming alcohol could actually
prove to have health benefits as well. A study by Dutch scientists suggests that a low to moderate
intake of alcohol could actually reduce the risk of dementia in elderly victims from age fifty five and
up. The article that outlines the study, titled Alcohol consumption and risk of dementia: the Rotterdam
Study, introduces the experiment as a part of the Rotterdam Study: a prospective, population based
cohort study that sought to investigate factors that led to health problems in the elderly. A prospective
take on the study was chosen since the subjects have already been exposed to the causal agent in this
case, alcohol in their lives prior to the study. They hypothesized that light to moderate alcohol intake
was associated with a lower risk of dementia, and aimed to quantify the relation between alcohol
consumption and the risk of dementia and subtypes of dementia; specifically, we examined whether

The Essential Role Of Bureaucracy Necessary In American...
A bureaucracy is not only needed in American democracy, furthermore, it plays an essential role to
keep it running smoothly. Some American citizens disagree that bureaucracies are beneficial for our
democracy because they do not get to vote in the officials or bureaucrats. However, if they would be
elected officials then the nominees running would campaign for fame or to be the next bureaucrat.
This would create disloyalty among the nominees. One of the responsibilities of government
bureaucrats is to implement the law given by Congress. If bureaucracy did not exist this responsibility
would be delegated to congress, and the checks and balance system would not be as influential
pertaining to laws. The Federal Bureaucracy provides the American people with the fifteen executive
departments. These departments are incredibly important and they address and regulate the protection,
health, education, transportation, etc, of the citizens of America. American democracy depends on and
benefits greatly on the organized bureaucracies in government.

My Life Has Me Thinking Essay
Currently, life has me thinking what a difference a year makes . You see, exactly a year ago I was
starting Graduate School at the Simmons College School of Social Work. In addition, I was living
with the girl I believed I was going to marry. Today, one year later I am now single and have been
dismissed from the Simmons College program without finishing my degree. However, I did not let the
circumstances allow me to give up, because I am resilient. Resiliency is an important concept we
teach our clients/community within the realm of Social Work. My year of 2016 has reminded me how
vital it is to be resilient.
My dream to become an LICSW Family Therapist/Marriage Counselor is taking a different route than
my original plan. My undergraduate career followed a long road with a lot of uncertainty. Uncertain
of: if college was for me, and if so, what I wanted to study, and if not, what exactly I wanted to do for
a career. After my freshman, year in college, I decided college was not for me. Then the year 2000
came. My high school classmates were graduating from college and landing careers, while I was
jumping from job to job. I made the decision to return to college in 2001 and graduated with a degree
in Criminal Justice in 2008. Before graduating, while still in college, I moved to New York in 2006
and started my career in Social Services at Graham Windham, a non profit foster care agency. This is
when I learned about the field of social work.

Ethnic Stereotypes In Aladdin
The animated classical Disney movie Aladdin has became one of the most successful movies since it
was released in 1992. This movie may seem to be fairy tale based and entertaining for children since
they are the main target audience of Disney, but with a deeper look into its details this is not the reality
of it. The ideas that children are exposed to from watching this movie help create and structure their
mindsets as well as reinforcing unrealistic images of the Arabian world. In addition, Aladdin is a great
illustrative tool in reflecting the concept of Orientalism, a term coined by Edward Said, which
emphasizes on representing the Orient with certain clichés and characteristics that are misleading
about the true nature of reality (Said, 1978). With that been said, this review paper will be focusing on

Disney but also the Western media industry as well. Then comes Jasmine, a victimized Oriental
woman who is oppressed by the males in her life, a common idea about the women in the Orient. Just
like Aladdin, she has an American accent and has a bit lighter skin than other supporting characters.

Buddhism In Contrast To Ancient Egyptian Religion
Buddhism in Contrast to Ancient Egyptian Religion
By: Will Burstein
Class: Empires Republics (E)
Religion is a system of beliefs and practices. It possesses a fixed set of beliefs or teachings that
attempt to analyze the deepest and most elusive of life s mysteries whilst also providing moralistic
guidelines. Religions are based on the concept of an existence of a higher power. Religions can be
either monotheistic (singular god), nontheistic (no gods) or polytheistic (many gods).
Buddhism was a nontheistic religion based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, The founder of
Buddhism. He became known as The Buddha after experiencing a sudden realization about death and
existence. In the remaining years of his life, he set out to teach ... Show more content on

The most noticeable difference between the two religions is the element of what/who is being
worshiped. In the Buddhist religion, there is no god, Only the Buddha. Gods were chosen not to be
worshiped because within the Buddha s teachings he taught that believing in gods was inessential for
those seeking to realize enlightenment. Although, in the Egyptian religion there was a plethora of
different gods that were being worshiped alongside the pharaoh. Another key difference between the
two religions is their pre death and after death rituals. From the teachings of the Buddha, it was shown
that death was an impermeable natural process of human life but after death, the soul will seek
attachment to a new body or a new life. However, The Egyptians believed that once dead, one s spirit
will transcend into an afterlife from their mummified body. One last difference between the two
religions is the structure of moral guidelines. Within the Buddhist religion, the middle path expressed
ethical approaches to life. Although, In the Egyptian religion, there was a lacking of a virtuous

Characteristics Of Shaping The Colonies
Shaping the Colonies
Within a span of 300 years, Europe found itself bombarded by domestic disputes and expansionist
curiosity. From the initial expedition by Christopher Columbus in 1492 having sparked European
interests in the Americas, a beacon of freedom sparked the minds of iconoclasts who sought the new
land during a period of time marked by religious tyranny, ongoing wars, and the greed for resources.
Colonial America from the sixteenth to seventeenth centuries was shaped by the hunger for freedom
from the English monarchy in terms of worship and self government.
In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue... Indians! Indians! Columbus cried; His heart was filled with
joyful pride. But India the land was not... The primary school song celebrates the Spanish explorer but
detracts from the motive behind the joyful pride. The fifteenth century was the beginning of the Age of
Exploration for the Portuguese, who dominated international trade by the sixteenth century. The allure
of South African gold, slaves, and ivory and the rich spices and gold of India tempted the Spanish, the
English, the French, and the Dutch to compete in the race for global riches. Christopher Columbus
responded to the opportunity after Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella of Castile exiled 200,000 Jews
and defeated the last of Muslim forces in Granada to restore Christianity in Spain during the Spanish
Inquisition. With the Spanish monarchy re establishing control over the nation, which was the

Solar Power Importance
Solar power is an important aspect of life that people should consider putting in their homes. Solar
power is the process of obtaining the energy from the sun and converting it to multiple uses. It can be
used to light, heat, and cool homes for cheaper than electric companies. Solar power is created by
using a device called a solar panel. Solar panels are used to soak up the sun s rays to create renewable
energy for homes and businesses. Solar power is saved during the daylight so that it can be used
during the night. If it is a cloudy day; enough energy can be preserved. If it isn t, the solar panel can
still get the energy it needs if the sun s rays shine through the clouds. On a cloudy day, the thicker the
clouds the less energy obtained(U.S. Department of Energy,2009).
Solar power is mostly used in places with the most sunshine. For example, they are majorly used in
places in the United States like California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Another good place to have
solar panels is in other countries, especially close to the equator. Close to the equator is a good spot for
the use of solar panels because the sun s rays are stronger there.
The process of creating the Solar panel is not an easy process. Solar panels are made up of mostly
different types of silicon and glass like substances. The process of making them and installing them is
costly, but after that they are done, they are fine. A photovoltaic cell is a cell that converts solar energy
into electrical energy(

Internet And The Internet Essay
Since the late 1960s and early 1970s, computer scientists have improved the accessibility of the
internet to all people. Technology has continuously improved through the introduction of computer
programming and coding and the use of cellular devices. Today, anyone can have access to internet
through the various forms of technology such as cell phones, computers, laptops, tablets, smart
watches, etc. Over the past 15 years, the internet has begun to incorporate itself into education by
allowing students to perform research more efficiently and have more interactive learning through the
use of educational websites, Smart Boards, etc. Accordingly, not only has the internet greatly impacted
education making it more interesting, but it has also impacted domestic lives. Parents now have an
easier way for their children to learn online at earlier ages through educational websites and online
learning programs, such as Starfall and ABCMouse. Children, from ages as young as three years old to
teenagers, have learned to operate the internet. Although children have developed this knowledge,
consequently, many have failed to learn the repercussions of their actions when inappropriately using
the internet. One of the most common repercussions one can often face is bullying through the

Social Networking And Its Effects On Social Media
Megan E. Garner Professor Seward Information Literacy ITE 119 41 30 March 2016 Social
Networking Misfires With the development of advances in technology, communication through social
networking has risen immensely. Communicating is not only less complicated, it is also relatively
inexpensive. Many teens in relationships view social media as a place where they can feel more
connected with the daily events in there significant other s life, share emotional connections, and let
their significant other know they care (Lenhart, Anderson, and Smith). However, the ease of access to
social networking has allowed many adolescents to become overly involved. Networking has the
potential to influence adolescents both emotionally and physically which in turn may lead to negative
behaviors. An article from procon.org stated, The use of social networking sites is correlated with
personality and brain disorders, such as the inability to have in person conversations, a need for instant
gratification, ADHD, and self centered personalities, as well as addictive behaviors (ProCon.org).
Essentially, social networking has rising negative influences on teens because of increased cyber

A Chapel By William Blake Analysis Essay
Blake starts the poem with an almost idyllic or nostalgic atmosphere; he uses rhyme s that contains a
very long E sound, which forces the reader to smile for proper pronunciation. The speaker is visiting
the garden of his youth, which he realizes has been occupied by briars and tombstones; symbolizing
death. The once open, green piece of land where he used to play, has been covered, and on it, a chapel
has been erected in the middle of its space. The narrator s dismay cannot be fully recognized as the
poem starts; the building of the chapel does not imply any specific disapproval, especially because the
line, And saw what I never had seen, may be taken positively at first read. However, A Chapel was
built in the midst Where I used to play on the green, hints at a more despondent feeling; the narrator is
realizing that the field has been robbed of its innocence, which effectively begins to present the chapel
as evil. The Chapel, in comparison to the garden, is completely unnatural; its shape is triangular and
squarish, making it almost forced and artificial in its place on the natural field. In this way, Blake
successfully conveys his antipathy towards the church and organized religion; he is presenting its
position in the garden as one of complete irregularity, sadness, and gloom. Thinking of the garden of
love in the biblical sense, it very much represents the Garden of Eden; where Adam and Eve once
lived in innocence, without the guilt of love. Thinking of Blake s

Characters In 12 Angry Men
In the movie Twelve Angry Men, Henry Fonda plays a character known as jury member number eight,
otherwise also known as Mr. Davis. Henry Fonda s role in the movie for many, may be thought of as
the most important character in the entire movie. Though this statement may be true, the movie also
involves eleven other characters who have huge contributions to the story line. Throughout the movie,
the audience watches twelve jury members discuss the alleged murder trial for an eighteen year old
boy who is being accused of murdering his father. All men, but one agree that the boy is guilty. The
movie 12 Angry Men may cause some people to question their own morals and beliefs, however the
overall outcome of the movie truly shows the importance of optimism, honesty, and standing up for
what you think is right. Henry Fonda plays the roll of jury member number eight, also known as Mr.
Davis.
This character that Henry Fonda plays believes that the boy on trial is not guilty. When questioned by
the other eleven men, Mr. Fonda s character never argued, yelled, accused, or even acted as if he was
right. He remained very optimistic and open mined throughout the entire movie. These qualities his
character plays can be things some people can apply in their own lives and use in everyday situations.
The next character that many people might think of as extremely important would be jury member
number five. This character is important because he relates to the eighteen year old

Atomic Bomb Dbq
The spring of 1945 marked the completion of the atomic bomb. Created by Franklin Roosevelt in
1939, the Manhattan Project had used 2 billion dollars of taxpayer money to build the atomic bomb,
equating to the most costly government project at the time. Political consequences of such wasted
expenditures if the atomic bomb was never detonated justified dropping the bomb. When scientists
finally witnessed its power in the demonstration at Alamogordo, New Mexico, newfound
repercussions of this weapon of mass destruction propelled the subject to heated debate. Still, the
majority opinion of government officials was to drop the bomb because it would reduce lives lost. Or
at least that is what they told the American people. The alternative plan was invasions on Kyushu and
Honshu, two strategic warfare locations of Japan which were to take place the coming fall and spring.
There was no doubt that many lives would be lost through these invasions. Hisaichi Terauchi, Field
Marshal of Japan, had already announced the execution of 100,000 Allied prisoners to deter any
invasions from taking place. Extreme Japanese war customs also heightened Americans unwillingness
to invade. Gyokusai, the Japanese term for suicide, was considered more honorable than surrendering.
Committed to fighting to the death, Prime Minister Hideki Tojo, in 1944, declared 100 million
gyokusai if circumstances were deemed necessary. The entire nation of Japan was prepared to die.

Essay on Fraudulent Financial Reporting Schemes
Fraudulent Financial Reporting Schemes
Abstract
Routine examinations, audits, or internal control procedures, do not reveal most accounting fraud.
Only 20% is revealed by way of auditing, however whistle blowing accounts for most revealed
accounting fraud. Financial statement fraud will usually occur in such schemes as: fictitious revenues,
timing differences, concealed liabilities amp; expense, improper asset valuation, or asset/revenue
overstatements (just to name a few), (Frempong, 2012). It is essential one be educated and thoroughly
understand the different types of financial statement fraud schemes and the accompanying accounting
transactions in order to better identify fraud.

This is achieved by inflating the company s assets, net earnings, and/or equity. To understate liabilities
the company would not record accrued liabilities or accounts payable, service or warranty liabilities,
loans (or keep liabilities completely off of the company books), contingent liabilities, and record
unearned revenues as earned revenue.
Improper Asset Valuation
The more assets a creditor, lender, or investor can view on a company s books the more appealing the
companies are to the creditor s, lender s, or investors. Assets are used to earn the company money in
order to pay or pay off its debt. This can cause improper asset valuation of such accounts as: accounts
receivable, fixed assets, and or inventory. Considering the complexity of inventory records,
management finds inventory as an attractive place to commit financial statement fraud. Inventory is
sometimes comprised of larger number items and distributed from several locations making it easier
for the improper creation of estimates for slow moving or dated goods. Additionally, management will
create non existing inventory, manipulate the physical count, fail to record the actual purchase, and
improperly capitalize inventory, (Colby, n.d).

Narrative Essay Kindergarten
All I wanted when I was little was to have beautiful long hair. All of my dolls had hair down to their
waist , and I longed to have hair like them. Unfortunately for me, my hair did not grow very fast... at
all. I was practically bald until I was three; and my hair was only about to my chin when I was ready
to start kindergarten. So there I was, on my first day at Foreign Language Academy. I was in Señora
Vargas s Kindergarten class holding on to my mom, dreading the moment she would have to leave. I
had been really excited about starting school and getting to wear my navy blue dress and my hellokitty
backpack. Actually being in the classroom, however, incredibly nerve racking. Most of the parents
were mingling and asking questions to the teacher, while the kids tried to find their place. Some kids
had already began to play games with one another. Others, like me, were more shy, still clinging to
their parent. In all the commotion, I noticed a girl who had the longest hair in the entire class of
kindergartners. She looked a lot like me except she had freckles, a pink cast on her arm, and the hair I
had ever seen. Her hair was the same color as mine, but about triple the length, and with more curl in
it. Jealousy immediately swept over me. It seemed like this girl had everything I had ever wished for
in my entire life. I also thought casts were really cool at that time because I did not really understand

The Omnivore s Dilemma By Michael Pollan Food Culture
In 2009 food detective Michael Pollan published an eye opening book called The Omnivore s
Dilemma. According to Pollan, we don t know what to eat because unlike other cultures around the
world, Americans lack a stable food culture. Food cultures are traditions that are passed down from
generation to generation to teach us how to cook and eat food. These cultures can help you stay
healthy and more importantly, enjoy your food.
In chapter 8 of the Omnivore s Dilemma, Michael Pollan explains how other cultures like the French
have traditions that have been passed down for generations. For instance, in chapter 8 Michael Pollan
says that You ll never see a French person eating while driving or walking down the street. They
seldom eat alone. Instead, they eat with family or friends, and their meals are long leisurely affairs. In
other words, the French culture of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

how food companies and the industrial food industry tend to modify their products to seem more

modify the food so that it says reduced fat, or gluten free. But in reality, they are taking out vital
nutrients and other things that we depend on to survive. Pollan tells us at the beginning of chapter 8
that Today the modern omnivore has almost no culture to fall back on. Standing in our giant

techniques can help the web host to increase the security of both the web server and clients that are

The security can also be bolstered by hiring alleged attackers that can point out the weaknesses that
are exploited and then these weaknesses can be strengthened by the security professionals.
There are also various techniques that can stop the attacker to access the LAN router so that there is
not attack initiated from the Wi Fi of a client computer. The LAN router in public places are not
extensively secure and the attackers either use these networks to initiate attack on others so that they
cannot be traced or they can simply attack the users on this network to leak information that is
important.
The protection of HTTPS connection should also be upgraded or security add ons should be created to
protect the integrity of the browser so that the client cannot be affected by the malicious JavaScript
that is sent by the attacker. There are browsers like Chrome and Mozilla which are not affected from
the attack as they have extensively worked together to ensure that security is not penetrated or
bypassed by the attacker. The other companies should also work in cooperation with each other to
ensure that their security is paramount and that attackers are minimised.

The function of the college electors is for the most knowledgeable and informed individuals from each
State to chose the president based solely on merit without regarding the state of orginal or political
party. The way electors are chosen varies from state to state. Usually political parties nominate
electors at their states conventions. Sometimes that process occurs by a vote of the parties central
committee. These electors are usually state elected officials, party leaders or people with a strong
affiliation with the presidential candidates. Prior to Election Day each major political party has
selected their slate of electors that will vote in December if their party wins that state. When it comes
to electing the president there are a total of 538 men and women electors who meet on one day in
December of a presidential election year. The next president will be the man or woman who receives
at least 270 electoral votes (half of 538 plus one). Prior to the 12th amendment the President and the
Vice President were both chosen on the same ballet. The one with the greater votes became the
President and the one with the second highest votes become the Vice President.

A Kid s Guide To Divorce By Lorrie Moore Analysis
Sommer Abdelrahim
EN 106
Professor Csedrik
27 February 2015
Should We Just Ignore It? The divorce rate in the United States is higher than fifty percent today. The
divorce rate continues to increase in America due to many reasons, one of them being that society
today is a disposable society. Back in the day, when someone had a broken shoe he or she would fix it,
and if there was a problem with a couple s marriage, the two would work through it. But today, it is
easier to ignore the problem, throw away what we do not like anymore and move on to the next, which
is not the right way to live. In Lorrie Moore s A Kid s Guide to Divorce , Moore writes about a child
and his or her mother. The two are sitting in their living room watching TV as they ... Show more

Divorce is one of the short stories from her book called Self help . In Moore s real life growing up, the
elephant in the room with her and her parents was her career choice. In A Kid s Guide to Divorce , the
elephant in the room was the parents divorce and the mother s unwillingness to address the problems
and talk about the divorce with her child. But she still makes it clear that she wants to know what her
ex husband is doing (citation). The mom pretty much wants to ignore the problem and although the
child is protecting his mother from some information which would hurt her feelings, he or she still
deserves to know what happened and what s next. The mom keeps ignoring the issue and continues to
push it to the side which will ultimately create a bigger problem and blow up in her face. It is clear
that Moore gets her inspiration for her writing from her own life and

The Battle of Gibeah and Micah s Idol
The story starts in chapter 17 when a man named Micah steals a very large amount of silver from his
mother. The exact amount that he takes is 1100 pieces of silver. An average yearly salary in Micah s
day was ten pieces of silver which can be found in verse 10, so he stole a small fortune. Micah s mom
gets very upset, as is her right, and she pronounces a curse on the person that had stolen the silver.
When Micah learns of his mother s curse, he gets worried and returns the silver. The Old Testament
law required Micah to add 1/5 (Exodus 22) to what he had stolen, 220 pieces of silver, but he does not
do this. It is not a reverential fear of the Lord that makes Micah feel the need to confess his crime and
return the money; it is his fear of his mother s curse. Micah does not feel guilty because of his sin but
he is merely trying to save himself from a curse. Micah mother also sins. When Micah returns the
silver, she doesn t curse but she blesses him. Her values, like Micah s, are not in line with God s. She
blesses him and the hires a silversmith to make her son idols, a clear sin against God, and he keeps
them. The mother doesn t condemn her son because she is as much of a thief as he is. In 17:3 she says,
I wholly dedicate the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son to make a graven image and a
molten image; now therefore, I will return them to you. however, in the very next verse she only gives
200 pieces of the silver. So, she kept 900 pieces of the silver that

This paper discusses the meaning of burden of proof and standard of proof and will also explain the
direction of the Judge given to the jurors in the given set of facts. 1. BURDEN OF PROOF It is
derived from the Latin expression onus probandi. The burden of proof or onus of proof refers to the
obligation on a party to satisfy the court to a specified standard of proof that certain facts are true. The
facts for this particular purpose are facts in issue.1 Burden of proof is closely associated with the Latin

  • 2. How Should Immigrants Change Their Names Immigrants changing their name Names are given by parents before or after children are born, and the names can vary depending on the ethnic group or culture that the person belongs to. Many people from all around the world immigrate to the United States every year, and one method that some of them use to fit in better into the American society is changing their names, which most of the time works. Immigrants that want to fit into American society should change their names because it can improve their labour market chances, and they could prevent discrimination. First of all, changing their names will give immigrants more employment opportunities. Based on an article from theglobeandmail.com, English speaking employers are about 40% more likely to choose to interview a job applicant with an English sounding name than someone with a foreign name even if both candidates have identical education, skills and work histories. This means that if immigrants change their names for an American name, they will have higher possibilities of getting a job interview every time they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By changing their names to a name more Americanized, immigrants can avoid people making fun of their names just because of the way it sounds. Studies show that most people tend to make fun of something when they are not used to seeing or hearing it. Consequently, this lead many immigrants to make the decision of changing their names in order to prevent people from laughing every time they say their names. In addition to that, changing their names would also help immigrants to avoid follow up questions after they tell their names to someone. Most of the time, when immigrants make a phone call and the have to give their names out, the other person ask them to repeated on more time or to spell it out, and that is not something immigrants feel comfortable ... • 3. The Final Lines From Beowulf s Speech Consider the final lines from Beowulf s speech when he asks Hrothgar for permission to fight Grendel (ll. 440 455). In these final lines Beowulf envisions the scene of Grendel s victory. How does our translation use alliteration, assonance, and compound words to make vivid the nature of Grendel, the devastating effects of that possible victory, and the necessary acceptance of God s will and the working of fate? S2 Answer #1 Beowulf: Our translation almost seems to create key words in the lines that contain alliteration and assonance. Examples such as fight with the fiend (440), frenzy fouling (449), or fear on that flower (444) add a sense of drama and heightened awareness to the lines because of their bold, descriptive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the compound moor nest (450) is much stronger than simply nest because the moor evokes images of wild, uncultivated land; Grendel is as uncultivated as the land. 2. Consider carefully the cross s narrative in The Dream of the Rood. How does the cross s narrative adhere to Anglo Saxon notions of heroism in its depiction of the crucifixion? How does the cross s narrative deviate from Anglo Saxon notions of heroism in its depiction of the crucifixion? In answering this question, please refer to the Anglo Saxon notions of heroism discussed in class. I m not listing particular formal and stylistic devices because those of you with the 8th edition have a different translation than those of you with the 9th edition, but you will need to select key formal and stylistic devices in order to provide evidence for your claims. Answer #2 The Dream of the Rood: The cross s narrative in The Dream of the Rood adhered to Anglo Saxon notions of heroism because Jesus is depicted as a triumphant hero that defeats human sin which is startlingly unlike the actual Biblical account. Essentially, poets in the Middle Ages put Jesus into the most popular box of the time, the warrior box, in order to appeal to Pagans. Regardless, Anglo Saxon heroes were aggressive, violent, and hypermasculine so Christ inherently subverts being a perfect Anglo Saxon hero because of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This change, drove a revolution in the undergarment manufacturing, since it required a more comfortable and easy to wear material for the brassieres. In the 1930s brassieres were revolutionized with the introduction of cups with filling materials to make women s breasts look more shapely. And three years later, bras with bulged bustling shape were introduced for women with smaller breasts. In the 20th century, undergarments had a huge change, it became more fitting and smaller. • 6. John Charles Fields Essay John Charles Fields John Charles Fields is perhaps one of the most famous Canadian Mathematicians of all time. He was born on May 14, 1863 in Hamilton Ontario, and died August 9, 1932 in Toronto, Ontario (Young, 1998). He graduated from the University of Toronto at the age of 21 with a B.A in Mathematics and went on to get his Ph.D. at John Hopkins University in 1887. Fields was very interested to study at John Hopkins University because apparently it was the only university in North America which really stressed research at the time (Fields Institute, n.d.). Fields did original research in the theory of algebraic functions that was influenced by his reknowned mentors, Fuchs, Schwarz, Frobenius and Plank (Fields Medal, n.d.). After two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think it is great to know that one of the greatest mathematicians of all time is Canadian, because most famous mathematicians are of European decent. I think Fields lived a very interesting and dynamic life; he had a chance to pursue his dream of research in mathematics and got to become lifelong friends with the famous mathematician Gosta Mittag Leffler. As opposed to Alfred Nobel, Fields understood the importance of research in mathematics and he did his best to support it and promote it. I think that is the reason why John Charles Fields was able to take mathematics to a new level, because he was so dedicated and passionate about his work. Mathematics is used in many widely different contexts and it is used everyday, although most people don t recognize that and I believe that the creation of the Fields medal was big step in the mathematical universe. In January 1932, Fields indicated that the idea of the medal had the support of the major mathematical societies of France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the United States, and he also outlined the principles behind the proposed medal (Fields Institute, n.d). The first Fields medal was awarded in Oslo in 1936. I think the implementation of the Fields medal was a great idea because it served as a reward for outstanding mathematicians and it made mathematics more recognized around the world. The most first people came to live in Canada were the Inuit and First Nation Peoples. The 1st Europeans to achieve the nation were likely the Vikings and it is trusted that Norse traveler Leif Eriksson drove them to the bank of Labrador or Nova Scotia in 1000 C.E. • 8. Observation Of The Half Crabs Observations The half crabs moved much slower in the minimum light environment. Their movements would be intermittent, and interestingly the half crabs would wander around the centre of the bowl. In contrast, the half crabs would continuously run in circles around the edges of the bowl in the moderate and maximum light environments. Both behavioural patterns were observed over the two days and across the two different groups of half crabs. Conclusion My results showed that the half crabs would travel a further distance when subject to higher light intensities (such as the maximum light environment) whereas the half crabs would travel a lesser distance when subject to lower light intensities (such as the minimum light environment). This proved my hypothesis to be correct as I predicted that the half crabs will move more quickly when subject to higher light intensities as a negative phototactic response. Discussion A taxis (plural term taxes) is an innate response in which a cell or an entire organism responds to an external directional stimulus. A phototactic response would be a directional response to light sensitivity, therefore a negative phototactic response would cause a cell or organism to respond my moving away from an external light source. • 10. Alcohol COnsumption and the Risk of Dementia Alcohol has been considered by many to be a powerful, and sometimes deadly, drug. It is often created during the breakdown process of sugar into ethanol and carbon dioxide during the fermentation of fruits or grain. The consumption of this substance has been restricted by age in most countries, as it has been linked to the harm of the kidneys, brain, and other parts of the human body. Alcohol has been a large presence in the media for centuries, mainly due to its sometimes damaging effects on consumers. However, there are those who believe that consuming alcohol could actually prove to have health benefits as well. A study by Dutch scientists suggests that a low to moderate intake of alcohol could actually reduce the risk of dementia in elderly victims from age fifty five and up. The article that outlines the study, titled Alcohol consumption and risk of dementia: the Rotterdam Study, introduces the experiment as a part of the Rotterdam Study: a prospective, population based cohort study that sought to investigate factors that led to health problems in the elderly. A prospective take on the study was chosen since the subjects have already been exposed to the causal agent in this case, alcohol in their lives prior to the study. They hypothesized that light to moderate alcohol intake was associated with a lower risk of dementia, and aimed to quantify the relation between alcohol consumption and the risk of dementia and subtypes of dementia; specifically, we examined whether ... Some American citizens disagree that bureaucracies are beneficial for our democracy because they do not get to vote in the officials or bureaucrats. However, if they would be elected officials then the nominees running would campaign for fame or to be the next bureaucrat. This would create disloyalty among the nominees. One of the responsibilities of government bureaucrats is to implement the law given by Congress. If bureaucracy did not exist this responsibility would be delegated to congress, and the checks and balance system would not be as influential pertaining to laws. You see, exactly a year ago I was starting Graduate School at the Simmons College School of Social Work. In addition, I was living with the girl I believed I was going to marry. Today, one year later I am now single and have been dismissed from the Simmons College program without finishing my degree. However, I did not let the circumstances allow me to give up, because I am resilient. Resiliency is an important concept we teach our clients/community within the realm of Social Work. My undergraduate career followed a long road with a lot of uncertainty. Uncertain of: if college was for me, and if so, what I wanted to study, and if not, what exactly I wanted to do for a career. After my freshman, year in college, I decided college was not for me. Then the year 2000 came. My high school classmates were graduating from college and landing careers, while I was jumping from job to job. I made the decision to return to college in 2001 and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice in 2008. The ideas that children are exposed to from watching this movie help create and structure their mindsets as well as reinforcing unrealistic images of the Arabian world. Solar power is the process of obtaining the energy from the sun and converting it to multiple uses. It can be used to light, heat, and cool homes for cheaper than electric companies. Solar power is created by using a device called a solar panel. Solar panels are used to soak up the sun s rays to create renewable energy for homes and businesses. Solar power is saved during the daylight so that it can be used during the night. If it is a cloudy day; enough energy can be preserved. If it isn t, the solar panel can still get the energy it needs if the sun s rays shine through the clouds. On a cloudy day, the thicker the clouds the less energy obtained(U.S. Department of Energy,2009). Solar power is mostly used in places with the most sunshine. For example, they are majorly used in places in the United States like California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Another good place to have solar panels is in other countries, especially close to the equator. Close to the equator is a good spot for the use of solar panels because the sun s rays are stronger there. The process of creating the Solar panel is not an easy process. • 22. A Chapel By William Blake Analysis Essay Blake starts the poem with an almost idyllic or nostalgic atmosphere; he uses rhyme s that contains a very long E sound, which forces the reader to smile for proper pronunciation. The speaker is visiting the garden of his youth, which he realizes has been occupied by briars and tombstones; symbolizing death. The once open, green piece of land where he used to play, has been covered, and on it, a chapel has been erected in the middle of its space. The narrator s dismay cannot be fully recognized as the poem starts; the building of the chapel does not imply any specific disapproval, especially because the line, And saw what I never had seen, may be taken positively at first read. However, A Chapel was built in the midst Where I used to play on the green, hints at a more despondent feeling; the narrator is realizing that the field has been robbed of its innocence, which effectively begins to present the chapel as evil. The Chapel, in comparison to the garden, is completely unnatural; its shape is triangular and squarish, making it almost forced and artificial in its place on the natural field. In this way, Blake successfully conveys his antipathy towards the church and organized religion; he is presenting its position in the garden as one of complete irregularity, sadness, and gloom. Thinking of the garden of love in the biblical sense, it very much represents the Garden of Eden; where Adam and Eve once lived in innocence, without the guilt of love. Thinking of Blake s ... The function of the college electors is for the most knowledgeable and informed individuals from each State to chose the president based solely on merit without regarding the state of orginal or political party. The way electors are chosen varies from state to state. Usually political parties nominate electors at their states conventions. Sometimes that process occurs by a vote of the parties central committee. These electors are usually state elected officials, party leaders or people with a strong affiliation with the presidential candidates. Prior to Election Day each major political party has selected their slate of electors that will vote in December if their party wins that state. When it comes to electing the president there are a total of 538 men and women electors who meet on one day in December of a presidential election year. The next president will be the man or woman who receives at least 270 electoral votes (half of 538 plus one). Prior to the 12th amendment the President and the Vice President were both chosen on the same ballet. The one with the greater votes became the President and the one with the second highest votes become the Vice President. Delattre describes in Some Reflections on Success and failure in Competitive Athletics that competitive athletics require a touchstone relationship of competitors i.e. that competitors have a moral and logical obligation to not engage in cheating. Competitive sports leagues and organizations have taken several measures to achieve competitive balance or fairness in regards to the spirit of competition. Competitive leagues have implemented the draft process to ensure that teams with the worst records are able to acquire top draft pick players to help improve losing teams, and salary caps to prevent a select few teams from acquiring all of the talented players and depriving the rest of the league from being able ... The divorce rate in the United States is higher than fifty percent today. The divorce rate continues to increase in America due to many reasons, one of them being that society today is a disposable society. • 35. The Battle of Gibeah and Micah s Idol The story starts in chapter 17 when a man named Micah steals a very large amount of silver from his mother. The exact amount that he takes is 1100 pieces of silver. An average yearly salary in Micah s day was ten pieces of silver which can be found in verse 10, so he stole a small fortune. Micah s mom gets very upset, as is her right, and she pronounces a curse on the person that had stolen the silver. When Micah learns of his mother s curse, he gets worried and returns the silver. The Old Testament law required Micah to add 1/5 (Exodus 22) to what he had stolen, 220 pieces of silver, but he does not do this. It is not a reverential fear of the Lord that makes Micah feel the need to confess his crime and return the money; it is his fear of his mother s curse. Micah does not feel guilty because of his sin but he is merely trying to save himself from a curse. Micah mother also sins. When Micah returns the silver, she doesn t curse but she blesses him. Her values, like Micah s, are not in line with God s. She blesses him and the hires a silversmith to make her son idols, a clear sin against God, and he keeps them. The mother doesn t condemn her son because she is as much of a thief as he is. In 17:3 she says, I wholly dedicate the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son to make a graven image and a molten image; now therefore, I will return them to you. however, in the very next verse she only gives 200 pieces of the silver. So, she kept 900 pieces of the silver that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
