Ranganathan's Five Laws of Library Science are summarized as follows: 1) Books are for use - Libraries should make books accessible to patrons and encourage their use. 2) Every reader his/her book - Libraries should provide materials to satisfy all types of readers and their needs. 3) Every book its reader - Libraries should work to connect every book to its appropriate reader. The document then discusses implications of the first law such as library location, timing, furniture, and atmosphere. It also outlines obligations of the state, authorities, staff, and readers to support libraries.
