This document evaluates the strain energy error for laser welds of AISI 1018 steel using the h-refinement technique in the finite element method. The results indicate a small relative error, with values ranging from 4.91% to 5.63% for the finite element method and from 2.20% to 3.68% for the extra strain energy, confirming the reliability of the method. This research highlights the efficiency of h-refinement in minimizing discretization errors in numerical simulations.
