The narrator states that he has very little compassion and tries to stay away from tough
situations, he tries to get away from the past, leaving it all behind him, but by dealing with the
guilt in his own way he feels the need to use aggression prevent the guilt from getting to him. By
hiding the stone in the snowball, a connection is made that he is trying to hide from the guilt. As
a child he completely disregards the situation because it makes him feel uncomfortable and the
guilt caused more anger. Looking at morals, he made the wrong decision to forget about the
incident, although it was an accident, he made an immoral decision. Instead of facing his guilt,
which could have possibly lead to a resolution, he ignores the fact that he was in the wrong.
Dunstan believes that he should not be the only one feeling guilty, he feels that Boy should have

matters this behavior might cover. A manager at MKD Transportation s first ethical behavior
matter to be covered is in regard to the hiring and firing of an employee pertaining to job

matter can be toward the company itself, such as an internal conflict of interest as in stealing

Provide two (2) supporting facts. An example of a situation which a company might adopt a pricing
objective to set prices low for a new product would be in order to establish market share. Pricing
decisions are influenced by the need to compete in the marketplace, by social and ethical concerns
as well as corporate image. 1st supporting fact is to become the number one retailer with a solid
understanding of how to set prices with an ultimate goal of achieving maximum profit as well as
market share objectives. 2nd supporting fact would be how to price, promote and distribute
products to customers. This involves identifying different groups of people targeted by various
companies marketing programs, distribution methods and competitive potential. On the contrary,
with regard to profit maximization a company should adopt their objective by setting prices high
with the intention of selling a greater number of products to targeted individuals with the full
intention of generating the highest profits. Moreover, this kind of marketing and selling comes
with a high risk of failure if the product is priced to high, fewer products will be sold ultimately
losing money resulting in unsold excess

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Flacks tells the journey of scientific advancement in both a legal

While he does not actually gamble for fear of losing all that he has, he is very much addicted.
However, his common sense overrides his addiction, so he does not actually participate. This
addiction possibly stems from the fact that he does not have much money, and he wants to have

Primal Brain Hacking
Before we dive deeper in the secrets of hacking the brain, first understand the human brain the
solely responsible organ for your every action, decision and behavior.
The Brain:
The human brain is divided in to 3 parts and if you conquer all three You have hacked the brain...
Step 1: Nudge Primal Brain
It is your only chance to grab your audience from their collar and look at your hardwork. Primal
brain responds to motion, threat of any kind, symbols of sex and hints of food. Stimulate the primal
brain through your online presence by using following strategies:
Brain Mover: The primal brain responds to motion. Use sliding content or any other unique kind of
moving thing on your website to nudge the attention of your viewer.

Your audience just sense whether you and/or your message makes them feel good or bad. Your
goal is either to change the emotional state of others (if it s running against you) or to maintain it if
it is working for you. Use following strategies to spread emotions:
Right Rapport: Use photos or videos to convey the emotional state that you want your customers to
feel. For example happy and satisfied people image, video testimonials showing emotional
gratification of your customers or anything which can convey them emotional value of your product
or service.
Storytelling: The use of storytelling techniques like hero s journey, sparklines or whatever suits
your brand to emotionally engage your audience. (If you have difficulty in choosing the right
technique, feel free to ask me for help in comments below.)
Step 3 : Conquer Rational Brain
As humans, we spend little or no time processing the constant bombardment of information around
us. We don t have time to process everything, so we develop these mental shortcuts. We tend to
follow our feelings, even if we don t admit doing so. We always respond more to gut instincts,
intuition, and other emotionally based triggers than we do to logic and reasoning. We just want to
feel right about things. We are emotional, subconscious decision makers with a bit of logic. The
following two techniques will provide the rational support

RELIGIOUS PRACTICE AND POPULAR CUSTOMS
The Bible provides no guidelines that explain how Christmas should be observed, nor does it even
suggest that it should be considered a religious holiday. Because of the lack of biblical instructions,
Christmas rituals have been shaped by the religious and popular traditions of each culture that
celebrates the holiday.
On Christmas Eve, churches around the world hold evening services. At midnight, most Catholic
and many Protestant churches hold special candlelight services. The Catholic midnight Mass was
first introduced by the Roman Catholic Church in the 5th century.

Santa Claus is not a prominent figure in Italian folklore. Instead, Italian children wait for La
Befana, a good witch who rides her broom to their homes on Epiphany to distribute gifts.
According to folk belief, La Befana was too busy to accompany the Three Wise Men on their
journey to visit the baby Jesus in Bethlehem. Now, to make up for her failing, she visits all good

In France Christmas in France is called NoГ«l. Celebrations reach their peak on Christmas Eve,

In Spain Spaniards attend church at Christmas, but during the Christmas season they also
participate in seasonal rituals that can be traced back to pagan times. For example, townspeople
gather in village squares around an quot;urn of fate. quot; Each person writes his or her name on
a piece of paper and places it in the urn. A designated person then draws the names out, two at a
time. According to an old belief, those whose names are drawn together will be best friends for the

Analyzing The Closet Scene In Mel Gibson s Hamlet
The Closet Scene in the Shakespearian play Hamlet was viewed in three different films. The
scene done by Mel Gibson was the best adaptation because it was filmed exactly how it was
written in the play. Mel Gibson was successful by evoking a strong emotional response within the
audience when Hamlet was shown being aggressive toward his mother, with the strong presence
of the Oedipus complex. The setting in this version was true to the text unlike Hawke s version
which was very modern as they were in an older setting which the text was in, an older time, when
royalty strongly ruled different counties, and they strongly believed in religion. However, in the
adaptation by Ethan Hawke, the setting appeared to be in a city. This version had cut

History Of Open Wheel Racing
The history of open wheel racing in the United States is a story of incredible success and terrible
failure. The story can be seen to have started in 1978 with the formation of the Championship
Auto Racing Team or CART. The league was founded by several racing teams who were
dissatisfied with the way open wheel racing was being handled. CART experienced tremendous
success for a number of years and represented the most popular form of motor sports in the
United States. The wheels on the success of CART racing began to come off when Anton Tony
George, the president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway began to express concerns with how
CART was operating. George complained that the CART league held too many races in foreign
countries. He also expressed concern that CART was focusing on road races instead of oval
tracks. He also felt that CART focused on too heavily on promoting foreign drivers. As a result of
his dissatisfaction with CART, George began the Indy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the initial problems was that racing teams had to choose between remaining in the CART
league or jumping ship to the IRL. The competition between the two leagues resulted in legal
battles of the use of the term Indy car. CART had licensed the term. The legal battles ended with a
judgement that neither league could use the term until December 31, 2002. The legal bickering
between the two leagues did nothing to attract fans to their races. Instead it proved to be a
distraction for fans who began to lose interest in both leagues. It was during this time that stock car
racing began its rise in popularity. Open wheel racing suffered another setback when major
sponsors like Honda, Toyota, and FedEx pulled their participation. With two separate open wheel
racing leagues the market became segmented and both leagues struggled to gain major sponsors

Benefits Of Small Town Living
Growing up in a very little town in Illinois was a lot different than growing up in Houston, Texas.
When I was in the fourth grade I found many things to have changed about my surroundings, I
currently lived in a place where, the people thought and acted differently. I know now reading
about it and understanding more that some of those changes were for the good and some were
not. Small town living has its advantages such as, very close friendships, close approximately to
may things, and friendly people. Looking back, I also realized that there were a lot of
disadvantages such as lack of transportation, affects of a poor education, no opportunities for
growth, crime, no diversity, and low paying jobs and housing. Now that I am older, and aware of
the affects of living in a small town, I can see how these many things affected my life and will
continue affect it in the future. I grew up, the majority of my live, in a town in central Illinois,
Kincaid, or better known as South Fork because of the co op with the schools around us in sports.
This town is approximately 20 miles southeast of Springfield, and is only seven miles west from the
nearest town, with many opportunities that my town did not offer (Citydata).

Kite Runner Dysfunctional Family Relationships
Dysfunctional family relationships can be observed in the relationship between mothers and
daughters, fathers and sons, and just about every correspondence between family members. Often,
this type of relationship results from a weak or poor connection within a family. Dysfunctional
family relationships can become negative in the sense that they generate impractical feelings
toward one another, and create secrets and lies. Critically acclaimed author, Khaled Hosseini
explores the theme of dysfunctional familyrelationships in his novel, The Kite Runner, through the
father to son relationship of the protagonist, Amir, and his father who lacks interest and separates
himself from his son. Hosseini suggests that through the poor relationship between Baba and Amir,

United States Is Becoming A Game Only The Privileged Can...
America has transitioned from the land of unconditional opportunity to the land of predetermined

more wealth than the entire bottom 95 percent (Draut 21). This fact is still true today, with the top
1% holding, 35.6% of all private wealth ( Facts and Figures in 99 to 1). Now the impact this has is,
with attending collegebeing the route to wealth more than ever, prosperity in United Statesis
becoming a game only the privileged can play. Nearly three quarters of students at the nation s top
146 colleges come from families in the top quarter of the socioeconomic status (SES) scale (Draut

United States from birth, your opportunities are significantly limited. This is proved with only 3%
of freshman from the bottom quarter income bracket going to the top colleges (Colleges, American

students college education has largely decreased with student loans/debt being more prominent.
Added to this is the fact that many minority communities are still living with the repercussions of

Late Nineteenth Century
In the late 1800 s, farmers believed that the railroad companies were strangling away their profits
and the government was in favor of big business thus justifying their feelings of discontent. . The
farmers had every right to be upset about their situation because the government saw a need for
reform which alludes to the fact that problems existed, the railroads had a monopoly on shipping
which raised costs and affected profit margins, the value of crops had deflated, and big business
was hostile towards farmers.

Crops such as cotton and wheat, once the sustenance of the agriculture industry, were selling at
prices so low that it was nearly impossible for farmers to make a profit off them. Furthermore,
improvement in transportation made it easier for foreign competition to gain the upper hand,
making it harder for American farmers to dispose of extra crops that had accumulated. To do
this, many railroads offered rebates and drawbacks to larger shippers who used their rails. As a
result of the agricultural depression, many farm groups, most notably the Populist Party, arose to
fight what farmers saw as the reasons for the decline in agriculture. The railroads regularly used
rebates and drawbacks to help win the business of large shippers, and made up this loss in profit by
increasing the cost to smaller shippers such as farmers. However, in many ways, the railroads hurt
small shippers and farmers. During the last twenty years of the nineteenth century, many farmers in
the United States saw monopolies and trusts, railroads, and money shortages and the loss in value
of silver as threats to their way of life, though in many cases their complaints were not valid.
Finally, years of drought in the Midwest and the downward spiral of business in the 1890 s
devastated many of the nation s farmers. Thus, the farmers of the late nineteenth century had a
valid complaint against railroad shippers, for these farmers were hurt by the unfair practices

Rural Community Assessment
Rural areas are disappearing as we know it. With the population raising villages becoming towns
and towns becoming cities. With rural, it is described as a place that has more of an countryside
than a town. Evening technical is a population that has less than 2,500 people in that location,
anything over 2,500 is considered urban. The townthat I pick is Tampico village located in Illinois.
The town is rural with only 790 people. With the rural urban continuum classification, this village
would be considered non metro area due to the fact that it is not adjacent to an area with a
populationless than 19,999. Then with the rural influence codes, it would be classification as a non
core adjacent to a micro area and contains a town of at least 2,500 residents. Now between the two
different classifications, the rural influence codes measure the ruralness of this town.
Sense 2010 the population of this town was at 790. After the past 6 years after that in 2016, the
population has decreased to 621. This is a total decrease of 169 over the last 6 years. It has also had

Essay on The Sixties, by Terry H. Anderson
The Sixties, by Terry H. Anderson, takes the reader on a journey through one of the most turbulent
decades in American life. Beginning with the crew cut conformity of 1950s Cold War culture and
ending with the transition into the uneasy 70s, Anderson notes the rise of an idealistic generation
of baby boomers, widespread social activism, and revolutionary counterculture. Anderson explores
the rapidly shifting mood of the country with the optimism during the Kennedy years, the liberal
advances of Johnson s Great Society, and the growing conflict over Vietnam that nearly tore
America apart. The book also navigates through different themes regarding the decade s different
currents of social change; including the anti war movement, the civil... Show more content on

This thematic standpoint in return provides ground for a second major theme; the 1960s was home
to the birth of civil rights movements and forever changed the American idea of the status quo. To a
large extent, it is agreeable that that the 1960s serves as the era that led to activism in the US.
Anderson is able to confirm and strengthen his standpoint by the fact that it was during one of the
greatest milestones of the 1960s, the Vietnam War, that for the first time in the history of the US,
the government was subjected to criticism and attacks against their ways . This can be evidenced
by the fact that Americans, which were majority college students, took to the streets to protest
government action. At the time, the policies and actions put forth by the government were seen to
be very secretive and wrong. Citizens were hastily informed about the need to stop the spread of
communism at the expense of capitalism. Not only were government policies seen as corrupt, the
government had kept the American society in the dark concerning the actual situation in Vietnam.
There seemed to be no cost that was worth retreating from Vietnam. Draft calls were constantly
increasing and the war itself began to result in federal expenditures, deficits, and inflationary
pressures ( Anderson 90). For some Americans, the war not only damaging, but unfair. Mexican

Importance Of Indian Cinema
Cinema is a great source of promoting culture, values and norms of the society, it shows how
exactly the people of that specific region are and how they live, think and do their activities.
Indian movies are very much popular in our country and movies are very much seen in Pakistan.
Bollywood is a largest showbiz industry in the world and one of the main reasons of great
influence of Indian cinema in our society and culture is because of downfall of Pakistani showbiz
industry. Pakistani cinema is going down and working poorly.
Indian cinema is promoting its culture through its movies and dramas, which are totally based on
Hindu folklore. they are influencing our culture and values by showing us their dramas and
movies which are totally based on their false believes and they are catching attention of our people
by showing so much fantasy , colors and glitters in their movies and dramas. In this way they are
spoiling our people s thoughts and also moving them far away to watch their own country s cinema.
It is believed that if you want to rule on a nation, you should capture their minds and through
propaganda cultivate your own culture in their lives by showing them your culture with strong
believes.
No doubt, it is the fault of our directors and producers who are not making good movies, there are
no solid concepts seen in new movies of Pakistan. Our youth is educated and know more about the
issues. They want to see good movies based on good scripts and well working cast.

War on Coal
War on Coal President Obama is responsible entirely for the closure of that mine and the loses of
these jobs , Robert Murray CEO of Murray Energy Corporation told CNN after 239 men were
laid off because an Ohio mine had closed. The current war on coal is not one of just and fair
reasons. Coal has several positive benefits that greatly outweigh the negative environmental effects
that some say it causes. The main benefit of coalis the hundreds of thousands it employs annually.
However, with the strict regulations being put on coal mines these days the tradition of coal mining
may be one our children will never know. It is our responsibility as Americans to beat the Obama

As election time draws near, the Romney Campaign is looking for ways to appeal to the coal
miners, coal truck drivers, railroad workers, and others affected by the coal industry. it is a
narrow group of voters you re looking at, but in those areas it is a big deal because it affects
entire communities. It really is their whole livelihood. People who work in the coal industry and
their family and friends will become single issue voters this year , says Kristen Kukowski,
secretary for the Republican National Committee. She is right. The coal industry is a livelihood,
and had been bringing people together for centuries. Coal towns stick together, so if Romney gets
in good with one small coal town, other towns are sure to follow. His approach to attract miners
has had a positive effect and will continue to do so as long as Obama pushes his strict regulations.
Jason Hayes, communications director for the American Coal Council says the industry over
the past few decades had invested over $100 billion in cleaning up emissions and it s already
been effective. All of the important noxious pollutants have decreased markedly over the last 30
to 40 years. We ve been doing all of this on top of dealing with everything else. Coal may not be
green, but it is a source of energy American needs. It is cheap and efficient. Without coal, America
wouldn t be anywhere near where it is today. The coal mined here isn t just used for energy.

Civic Vs Honda Research Paper
You have narrowed down your options to just two cars. Now, you have to decide on an answer.
Honda Accord versus Civic: Which is Right for You? Depending on the driver s circumstances in
life, needs and price range, the answer to this question can vary. While Honda Accords and Honda
Civics are grouped together as sedans, there are actually a number of differences between the two
vehicles.
Size Matters
The most obvious difference between an Accord and a Civic is the size. In 1982, Honda
introduced the Accord as their first vehicle in the Untied States. While both vehicles seat five
passengers, the Honda Civic is a compact car. The Accord is a mid size sedan, which gives it more
leg room for passengers. Since the Accord weighs about 500 pounds ... Show more content on

The Honda Accord gets 27 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles on highways. Meanwhile, the
Honda Civic gets 31 miles per gallon in the city and 42 miles per gallons for highway driving.
Due to this, the Civic is an ideal vehicle for commuters who have to drive long distances to get to
work every day. The continuously variable transmission and responsive steering make it easier to
navigate through traffic.
For extra room, choose the Accord. This model is ideal for car shoppers who want to have
comfortable seating and a lot of space. The lower gas mileage makes it less suited for commuting,
although it would be extremely comfortable to drive in over long distances. The Accord is also a
better choice for moving items due to the extra space in the interior of the car and the spacious
trunk.
For Power, Choose the Accord
While the Honda Civic is the best for gas mileage and commuting, the Honda Accord has much
more power. Currently, the Accord has 185horsepower, a torque of 181 lb ft and a 2.4 liter
engine. Meanwhile, the Civic has a 1.8 liter engine with 143 horsepower and 129 lb ft of torque.
This means that the Honda Accord has more power and a better hauling capacity than the

The Nursing Career
Nurses entering this specialty must highlight not only their clinical skills, but also their critical
thinking, advocacy and analytical abilities. Communities are dynamic, and nurses must adapt to
and be able to provide patients with whatever care is needed. (Meadows, 2009). The PHN uses
clinical knowledge along with an ecological viewpoint. A public healthnurse can practice in clinics,
healthdepartments, faith based organizations, mobile vans, homes, correctional facilities,
occupations, community centers and hospitals. There is no setting that a public health nurse cannot
practice to deliver a community focused intervention.
Delivering a successful intervention can be challenging but with learning competencies and skills,
the PHN can achieve results. At all times the focus must be on the health needs of an entire
population including imbalances and the unique needs of sub populations. A PHN must be
analytical by defining a problem and use data to determine an effective solution. A PHN must be
able to communicate effectively, and understand how the media delivers information.
Of great importance is the role of cultural competency in public health nursing. Cultural competency
is the ability to effectively consider the worldviews, healthcare practices and preferences of people
from diverse, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. The PHN must put an
emphasis on prevention and focuses attention to multiple determinates of health. The skill of

The Soviet Union and Sputnik
On October 4th, 1957 the Soviet Union launched a metal sphere, called Sputnik, that intermittently
transmitted a radio signal, into orbit. This event does not seem very impressive now, but when it
happened it had a massive political and psychological effect. It spawned the idea that the United
States might be eclipsed by another world power in technological might and proved that the Soviet
Union could make a missile that could reach the United States. As part of a broad response to this
event the United States government created the Advanced Research Projects Agency, ARPA for
short, which is now known as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency or DARPA. The
mission of this new agency was to foster advanced technologies and systems that create
revolutionary advantages for the U.S. military (Van Atta 20). Much of this advanced technology
eventually made its way to the civilian market. Without Sputnik, technology that most people living
in modern countries take for granted, such as the Global Positioning System, the Internet, and
modern computer operating systems, would, possibly, not exist yet. The development of the Global
Positioning System, GPS for short, was accelerated by Sputnik in more than one way. When
Sputnik launched, Guier and Wieffenback were able to measure the doppler shift in the signal that
was broadcast from Sputnik and successfully estimate the location of Sputnik. After telling their
Laboratory s Director about their discovery they were granted

Reflection On Ponics Lesson
Phonics Lesson Reflection
15 points
As a future teacher, you will be self reflecting on your teaching and the activity that you had the
class complete as part of the lessons. By reflecting on what you presented in class, you will learn
how to and what to modify in future lessons which will help you become a stronger teacher (Ed
TPA). Please answer the following prompts (honestly) with a minimum of 4 sentences for each
section.
1. How do you think the lesson went?
I personally think that my lesson went pretty well. It seemed like many people were engaged and
they participated. There are things that I could have done to make the activity more challenging for
the consonant digraphs and consonant blends, but overall I think the activity was fun. I felt like the
students payed attention to when I was speaking at the beginning and the end of the activity, which
was ideal for any lesson.
2. What were the strengths about the presentation (lesson and/or teaching) and why?
The strengths of the lesson in my opinion was the fact that the students could play a game while
also participating with consonant blends and consonant digraphs. Even though throwing buttons
into a cup is fun and the lesson involved competition, it still made the students think about
consonant digraphs and consonant blends. I also think that it helped the students realize how many
words are made with consonant blends and consonant digraphs, which will help with their
phonemic awareness.

While this indicates an active interest on the part of world leaders to protect children, it has not

In Mexico, all young men of the age of 18 or older must serve in the military for one year,

Rhetorical Analysis: The Glass Ceiling Hurts Business Too
In Sarah Bianchi Sand s article, she details the glass ceiling, or an unofficial boundary that prevents
women and minorities alike from reaching their highest potential. Her work is meant to persuade
readers that the glass ceiling isn t a myth, but a real and serious problem. Being the Chair and
Executive Director of the National Committee on Pay Equity, Sarah has plenty of reason for
wanting to persuade this topic. Her thesis effectively starts this process by laying out what is
happening. This theory is circulating widely among the press perhaps because it is controversial
and contradicts what has become rather boring to the media but what remains are the real life
experiences of women and people of color no real change in the wage gap and no improvement in
the glass ceiling (Bianchi Sand p.306). This thesis opens the door for Sarah to talk about and
persuade her readers that the glass ceiling is no myth. By using ethos, pathos, and logos our Author
persuades her readers that the glass ceiling is hurting business but can be raised.
Sarah Bianchi Sand began her career path as an advocate of equal pay for equal work in 1969
when she took a job as a stewardess for United Airlines. Appalled by the inequalities she saw there,
she ran for and won a seat as president of the flight attendants union. Now Chair and Executive

The Dehumanization Of The Superstructures By Denice Frohman
Denice Frohman also criticizes the superstructures that suppress the Latinx community,
specifically the undocumented community. Denice Frohman recites, Ana Maria is now 16. Her
father works 18 hour days as a dishwasher. Her mother cleans houses she ll never get to live in so
that Ana Maria can sit in a college classroom and say, I am here. But her guidance counselor tells
her she can t get financial aid or the instate tuition rate because of her status. She says it like an
apology. Ana wonders if her familyever crossed the border, or if they are just stuck inside another
one, aggravating it like a soul. Her guidance counselor stands in front of her with a mouth full of
fences (). Denice Frohman narrates the structural hardships that undocumented families usually
face. The arduous labor that is accepted from undocumented immigrants and their families but not
their full acceptance into an exclusive society. The dehumanization of immigrants who are here to
work towards a better life, but work so hard and never actualize their dreams. Moving across one
border to be faced with another border. A border full of limits that forgets about the humanity of
those it ousts. The performances by Zachary, Ariana, and Denice are not just critical to the

п‚—It can be concluded that use of the Six Sigma DMAIC approach was successful in identifying
the problem, improving the process, and controlling the defects
(10). Minimization of Casting Defects
п‚—There are 9 experiments conducted using Taguchi s DOE by changing the selected variables
and different results, from very bad to good, were shown up. The shrinkage defect was precluded
starting the first experiment since it can usually be corrected by proper design of the gating systems
.
п‚—In fact, much more experiments were needed to determine the clear causes of gas defects as
such causes are so many in number. Any ways, if the matrix of the variables that produce good
result can be applied by ABMI, there will obviously be a substantial saving in the cost of production.
п‚—Gas defects have a number of different causes which are sometimes unique to a certain
environment and working conditions.
п‚—Increasing the number of parameters and variables would give more accurate results and
enables to know the effect of any individual variable on the defect scenario but, it costs is high.

During Rule Of Emperor Justinian Of The Eastern Roman Empire,
During rule of Emperor Justinian of the Eastern Roman Empire, a cycle of recurring plagues
started in the year 541 A.D. This plague cycle would disappear and reappear in roughly eleven
year cycles. The last strike of this plague cycle was in 747 in Naples. This series of plagues were
called the Justinian plague named after Emperor Justinian s rule and it is also referred to as the
early medieval pandemic (EMP). The severity of this plague was high being that Procopius of
Caesarea, a Urban Prefect of Constantinoplestated that the plague fell upon the whole world, yet
just as many people escaped as had the misfortune to succumb either because they escaped the
infection altogether, or because they got over it if they happened to be... Show more content on

It may seem like an outlandish claim by Procopius to put the blame for plague on Justinian however
he is not far from the truth. Justinian was not a demon in human form however his expansionism
did opened a large area of the Empire and increased internal travel distance allowing for the plague
to spread throughout the Mediterranean.
Justinian s rule before the plague was stable however during the plague the stability of his rule
plummeted. As stated before, during the plague Justinian drew blame from his people because
of the devastation. However the plague reduced population drastically, those on arable areas by
one half in fifty years and those in dry areas by a lesser amount. It created a great depression,
forced readjustment of population, altered relations among parts of the Empire, and created
conditions which were sensitive to accidents. The loss of life combined with a economic
depression greatly lowered the stability of the Empire however they were not the only factors
that affect the stability of the realm. To protect the economy Justinian order an edict that froze
prices and wages pre plague levels however As with all such wage and price freezes, Justinian s
edict served mostly to exaggerate the problems they were intended to solve. Shortages of fuel, food
and most relevantly for an empire now fighting a two front war the

Education Biography
Countless leaders, revolutionaries, and scholars have discerned that only through the trials of
experience are we able to clearly identify an established pursuit. This prospect of a delayed
reward seemingly motivates us to continue in our endeavors. Finding little relevance in
experiences void of challenge or difficulty, we discern our interests largely through the upheaval of
current understanding. As we mature we realize that we must first embrace where we came from
if we hope to continue to develop, to adapt, and to modify and so we recognize that our past
experiences have all undoubtedly led us to here.

As the University of Bristol held no affiliation with my college, I was required to take leave of
absence from my university with the firm understanding that any coursework I completed overseas
would be null and void upon my return, rendering the completion of my degree nearly impossible
to attain within four years.
Aware that my program at the University of Bristol was only five months in duration, afterward I
would be no more a part of the university than when I first applied. As a visiting student, I would
need to apply to an alternative educatioal institution upon completion of my program overseas. A
traditional collegiate experience now looked highly unlikely. Fortunately, adhering to tradition has
never been as aspiration of mine.
In the Fall semester of my sophomore year I accepted the position of Public Programs Intern at the
Museum of Fine Arts in Boston Massachusetts where I served as a liaison between administrative
objectives and public interest. As an employee in the Department of Member and Visitor Services,
my colleagues and I worked to identify the demographic of our intended audience in order to attract

The Massachusetts Bay Colony And Virginia
Kassandra Payette
Mocarski
Academic U.S. History
29 September 2015
The Massachusetts Bay colony and Virginia had a sundry amount of differences as well as
similarities. Each of these colonies was founded upon different ways of living. Digging deeper,
there are many more differences about these colonies than there are similarities. Although both
colonies eventually experienced the help of the natives, each colony set separate rules and laws for
themselves. Virginiais more geographically spread out and more focused on obtaining gold for
personal profit, whereas Massachusetts is more of a united, small farmed colony that focused more
on the efforts for religious freedom.
John Rolfe was an English settler who based the voyage to America simply on the growth of
tobacco. Rolfe s crew, along with many other young men, traveled to Virginia in 1609 to search
for gold. When the ship reached on the shore, all that was seen was sandy beaches and swampy
marshes. Neither of which helped with the growth of the major cash crop. Even after the valiant
attempts to scrounge for gold, there was no success. With the large amount of crops that Virginia
grew, the colony needed to expand west into new land for more room to grow crops. At this time
Virginia was an underdeveloped colony that needed settlers to come live and work. Virginia
introduced the ever growing indentured servitude. Most of the indentured servants were possibly
single men of the lower class. The ship s list of emigrants

Hypnagogic Jerks
Alter sleep position: Some people may have success in altering their sleep position from supine
(on the back) to sleeping on the side or stomach. Sleeping on the back has been associated with a
variety of odd sleep experiences and phenomena. It should be theorized that altering your sleep
position may decrease likelihood of hypnagogic jerks.
Bed firmness: It should be considered that a more firm or less firm bed may influence brain
activity prior to falling asleep. Those on a less firm bed may receive less muscular stimulation and
thus feel as if they are falling or floating, which causes a jerk. Similarly those with extremely firm
sleeping surfaces may end up with overstimulated musculature, leading to nerve misfirings and
provoking a reflexive startle twitch.

Regardless of whether the stimulant is a pharmaceutical drug or legal drug like caffeine, these
agents may increase likelihood of hypnagogic jerks. If you want to decrease the jerks, you may
want to reduce, eliminate or consume stimulants only within specific windows of time (e.g. the
early morning).
Pharmaceutical drugs or supplements: In some cases, taking a pharmaceutical drug to help with
sleep quality may simultaneously reduce or eliminate hypnagogic jerks from your life. In other
cases, taking the right supplements may result in a similar effect. If you need medication for your
sleep or a supplement (e.g. melatonin), you may find that they decrease the jerking.
Regimented sleep schedule: By sticking with a regimented or strict sleep schedule, your circadian
rhythm should adapt. Those with variable sleep schedules may have a circadian rhythm that isn t
aligned with their sleep schedule, thus resulting in all types of physiological chaos. Decreasing this
physiological chaos with a good sleep schedule may also reduce the

Spotlight Film Analysis
How do you react after watching a movie? That was good, I wasn t a huge fan, and HOLY SHIT
THAT WAS AMAZING, tend to be my usual reactions. But as I left the theater after watching
Spotlight, my response was different. I couldn t shake the overwhelming thought that this movie
was important. Granted, the HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AMAZING response was still present.
Importance remained my number one takeaway from the movie though, and I soon learned its true
importance. Director/writer Thomas McCarthy and writer Josh Singer piece together the complex
and startling true story of how the special Spotlight division of the Boston Globe uncovered child
sex abuse within the Catholic Church. In many ways McCarthy and Singer act as the reporters...

McCarthy and Singer made clear they intended to display the greatness journalism can achieve,
and how the institution of journalism has seen better days. As Singer put it, We felt the best
way we could talk about that is: show great local journalism, you know, doing its thing. I think
Marty [Baron] said it last night Watergate was a local story, just two Metro reporters going after
a break in, right? And it turned out to be a national story. In regards to the Spotlight investigation
and Watergate, Singer says, We need more of this, not less. McCarthy followed this up by more
or less revealing his plan to help revitalize journalism, We need more young people like
yourselves to be inspired to realize just what an amazing profession it is, and how important it is.
Who would have guessed the story about pedophilia in the Catholic Church would be
inspirational? Not me. But once you begin to look at it as less of a condemnation of the Catholic
Church, and more as a celebration of exceptional journalism, the full scope of the movie comes to

Numerous Accomplishments of Johann Heinrich Lambert
Johann Heinrich Lambert was born 26 August 1728 in Mulhouse, present day Alsace, France.
His father was a tailor named Lukas Lambert, whose father was also a tailor. The family was not
well off and at the age of twelve young Johann Lambert he had to begin working for his father
which forced him to leave school. As he continued to work for his father he did not forgo his
studies. He filled his time in which he was not helping his father with reading and learning
scientific subjects on his own. He had a desire to learn and expand his knowledge that drove him
to study. Even without a formal education or teachers to lead him he learned on his own
beginning at a young age. At the age of fifteen he began work as a clerk to support his family and ...

In color theory Tobias Mayer was a big influence on Lambert. Tobias Mayer s color triangle was
first published in 1775. The physicist Georg Christoph Lichtenberg published the color triangle in
an edition called Opera Inedita . This was a suggestion of Johann Heinrich Lambert, who had used
the Mayer triangle three years previously. A colortriangle operates with the three basiccolors
cinnibar, massicot and azurite and gives all mixtures in which at least one twelfth of another color
is added to a basecolor.
Black and white are treated as the representatives of light and darkness, which in turn either lighten
or darken the colors.
In 1758 more than half a century after Newton s Optics had appeared the German mathematician
and astronomer Tobias Mayer (17231762) gave a lecture to the Gottingen
Academy of Science entitled De affinitive colorum commendation (historical system), in which he
tried to identify the exact number of colors, which the eye is capable of perceiving. He chose red,
yellow and blue as his basic colors, and vermillion, mascot and azurite as their representatives
amongst the pigments. Black and white was considered to be the agents of light and darkness,
which either lighten or darken the colors.
Lambert was an expert in science and math. He was not very interested in the arts until he was
trying to explain light in space. Lambert attempted to explain the structure of the universe in his
writings. About the time he was writing about his theories,

Crops such as cotton and wheat, once the sustenance of the agriculture industry, were selling at prices so low that it was nearly impossible for farmers to make a profit off them. Furthermore, improvement in transportation made it easier for foreign competition to gain the upper hand, making it harder for American farmers to dispose of extra crops that had accumulated. To do this, many railroads offered rebates and drawbacks to larger shippers who used their rails. As a result of the agricultural depression, many farm groups, most notably the Populist Party, arose to fight what farmers saw as the reasons for the decline in agriculture. The railroads regularly used rebates and drawbacks to help win the business of large shippers, and made up this loss in profit by increasing the cost to smaller shippers such as farmers. However, in many ways, the railroads hurt small shippers and farmers. During the last twenty years of the nineteenth century, many farmers in the United States saw monopolies and trusts, railroads, and money shortages and the loss in value of silver as threats to their way of life, though in many cases their complaints were not valid. Anderson is able to confirm and strengthen his standpoint by the fact that it was during one of the greatest milestones of the 1960s, the Vietnam War, that for the first time in the history of the US, the government was subjected to criticism and attacks against their ways . This can be evidenced by the fact that Americans, which were majority college students, took to the streets to protest government action. At the time, the policies and actions put forth by the government were seen to be very secretive and wrong. Citizens were hastily informed about the need to stop the spread of communism at the expense of capitalism. Not only were government policies seen as corrupt, the government had kept the American society in the dark concerning the actual situation in Vietnam. There seemed to be no cost that was worth retreating from Vietnam. Her thesis effectively starts this process by laying out what is happening. This theory is circulating widely among the press perhaps because it is controversial and contradicts what has become rather boring to the media but what remains are the real life experiences of women and people of color no real change in the wage gap and no improvement in the glass ceiling (Bianchi Sand p.306). This thesis opens the door for Sarah to talk about and persuade her readers that the glass ceiling is no myth. By using ethos, pathos, and logos our Author persuades her readers that the glass ceiling is hurting business but can be raised. Sarah Bianchi Sand began her career path as an advocate of equal pay for equal work in 1969 when she took a job as a stewardess for United Airlines. Appalled by the inequalities she saw there, she ran for and won a seat as president of the flight attendants union. Now Chair and Executive Director of the National Committee ... • 39. The Dehumanization Of The Superstructures By Denice Frohman Denice Frohman also criticizes the superstructures that suppress the Latinx community, specifically the undocumented community. Denice Frohman recites, Ana Maria is now 16. Her father works 18 hour days as a dishwasher. Her mother cleans houses she ll never get to live in so that Ana Maria can sit in a college classroom and say, I am here. But her guidance counselor tells her she can t get financial aid or the instate tuition rate because of her status. She says it like an apology. Ana wonders if her familyever crossed the border, or if they are just stuck inside another one, aggravating it like a soul. Her guidance counselor stands in front of her with a mouth full of fences (). Denice Frohman narrates the structural hardships that undocumented families usually face. The arduous labor that is accepted from undocumented immigrants and their families but not their full acceptance into an exclusive society. The dehumanization of immigrants who are here to work towards a better life, but work so hard and never actualize their dreams. Moving across one border to be faced with another border. A border full of limits that forgets about the humanity of those it ousts. The performances by Zachary, Ariana, and Denice are not just critical to the superstructures of society but are oppositional readings to the preferred labels put on the Latinx community. The shrinkage defect was precluded starting the first experiment since it can usually be corrected by proper design of the gating systems . п‚—In fact, much more experiments were needed to determine the clear causes of gas defects as such causes are so many in number. Any ways, if the matrix of the variables that produce good result can be applied by ABMI, there will obviously be a substantial saving in the cost of production. п‚—Gas defects have a number of different causes which are sometimes unique to a certain environment and working conditions. п‚—Increasing the number of parameters and variables would give more accurate results and enables to know the effect of any individual variable on the defect scenario but, it costs is high. This plague cycle would disappear and reappear in roughly eleven year cycles. The last strike of this plague cycle was in 747 in Naples. This series of plagues were called the Justinian plague named after Emperor Justinian s rule and it is also referred to as the early medieval pandemic (EMP). The severity of this plague was high being that Procopius of Caesarea, a Urban Prefect of Constantinoplestated that the plague fell upon the whole world, yet just as many people escaped as had the misfortune to succumb either because they escaped the infection altogether, or because they got over it if they happened to be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It may seem like an outlandish claim by Procopius to put the blame for plague on Justinian however he is not far from the truth. Justinian was not a demon in human form however his expansionism did opened a large area of the Empire and increased internal travel distance allowing for the plague to spread throughout the Mediterranean. Justinian s rule before the plague was stable however during the plague the stability of his rule plummeted. As stated before, during the plague Justinian drew blame from his people because of the devastation. However the plague reduced population drastically, those on arable areas by one half in fifty years and those in dry areas by a lesser amount. It created a great depression, forced readjustment of population, altered relations among parts of the Empire, and created conditions which were sensitive to accidents. The loss of life combined with a economic depression greatly lowered the stability of the Empire however they were not the only factors that affect the stability of the realm. To protect the economy Justinian order an edict that froze prices and wages pre plague levels however As with all such wage and price freezes, Justinian s edict served mostly to exaggerate the problems they were intended to solve. This prospect of a delayed reward seemingly motivates us to continue in our endeavors. Finding little relevance in experiences void of challenge or difficulty, we discern our interests largely through the upheaval of current understanding. As we mature we realize that we must first embrace where we came from if we hope to continue to develop, to adapt, and to modify and so we recognize that our past experiences have all undoubtedly led us to here. • 44. The Massachusetts Bay Colony And Virginia Kassandra Payette Mocarski Academic U.S. History 29 September 2015 The Massachusetts Bay colony and Virginia had a sundry amount of differences as well as similarities. Each of these colonies was founded upon different ways of living. Digging deeper, there are many more differences about these colonies than there are similarities. Although both colonies eventually experienced the help of the natives, each colony set separate rules and laws for themselves. Virginiais more geographically spread out and more focused on obtaining gold for personal profit, whereas Massachusetts is more of a united, small farmed colony that focused more on the efforts for religious freedom. John Rolfe was an English settler who based the voyage to America simply on the growth of tobacco. Rolfe s crew, along with many other young men, traveled to Virginia in 1609 to search for gold. When the ship reached on the shore, all that was seen was sandy beaches and swampy marshes. Neither of which helped with the growth of the major cash crop. Even after the valiant attempts to scrounge for gold, there was no success. With the large amount of crops that Virginia grew, the colony needed to expand west into new land for more room to grow crops. At this time Virginia was an underdeveloped colony that needed settlers to come live and work. Virginia introduced the ever growing indentured servitude. Most of the indentured servants were possibly single men of the lower class. The ship s list of emigrants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Hypnagogic Jerks Alter sleep position: Some people may have success in altering their sleep position from supine (on the back) to sleeping on the side or stomach. Sleeping on the back has been associated with a variety of odd sleep experiences and phenomena. It should be theorized that altering your sleep position may decrease likelihood of hypnagogic jerks. Bed firmness: It should be considered that a more firm or less firm bed may influence brain activity prior to falling asleep. Those on a less firm bed may receive less muscular stimulation and thus feel as if they are falling or floating, which causes a jerk. Similarly those with extremely firm sleeping surfaces may end up with overstimulated musculature, leading to nerve misfirings and provoking a reflexive startle twitch. Brainwave ... If you want to decrease the jerks, you may want to reduce, eliminate or consume stimulants only within specific windows of time (e.g. the early morning). Pharmaceutical drugs or supplements: In some cases, taking a pharmaceutical drug to help with sleep quality may simultaneously reduce or eliminate hypnagogic jerks from your life. In other cases, taking the right supplements may result in a similar effect. If you need medication for your sleep or a supplement (e.g. melatonin), you may find that they decrease the jerking. Regimented sleep schedule: By sticking with a regimented or strict sleep schedule, your circadian rhythm should adapt. Granted, the HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AMAZING response was still present. Importance remained my number one takeaway from the movie though, and I soon learned its true importance. In regards to the Spotlight investigation and Watergate, Singer says, We need more of this, not less. McCarthy followed this up by more or less revealing his plan to help revitalize journalism, We need more young people like yourselves to be inspired to realize just what an amazing profession it is, and how important it is. Tobias Mayer s color triangle was first published in 1775. The physicist Georg Christoph Lichtenberg published the color triangle in an edition called Opera Inedita . This was a suggestion of Johann Heinrich Lambert, who had used the Mayer triangle three years previously. A colortriangle operates with the three basiccolors cinnibar, massicot and azurite and gives all mixtures in which at least one twelfth of another color is added to a basecolor. Black and white are treated as the representatives of light and darkness, which in turn either lighten or darken the colors. In 1758 more than half a century after Newton s Optics had appeared the German mathematician and astronomer Tobias Mayer (17231762) gave a lecture to the Gottingen Academy of Science entitled De affinitive colorum commendation (historical system), in which he tried to identify the exact number of colors, which the eye is capable of perceiving. He chose red, yellow and blue as his basic colors, and vermillion, mascot and azurite as their representatives amongst the pigments. Black and white was considered to be the agents of light and darkness, which either lighten or darken the colors. Lambert was an expert in science and math.
